Well this thread got weird.
Anyway, I came on to suggest that any poster here who genuinely cannot see why this issue is so important, or is worried about being on the wrong side of history, go and give "She's beautiful when she's angry" a watch. It is on Netflix.
It is about the 1960's women's movement. And throughout it there are women on film at that time, saying they didn't understand the need for it. They liked cooking and cleaning, they didn't see the problem.
They didn't see the problem. Just as so many women (and men) today don't see the problem. But the problem today is the same problem that so many brave women stood up against nearly 60 years ago. Men believing that their feelings, rights and sexual urges are more important than women. That women should accept whatever they are given. That women should shut up and move over and accommodate men in whatever they request. And if women don't? Men will intimidate, rape and abuse them into submission.
Think that is extreme? You only have to look at the treatment of women who have spoken out on twitter to see that it is the reality today, just as it was then. Rape threats. Meetings being shut down. Women being scared to put their names to an online petition in case it puts their job at risk. Women carefully considering whether to share gender critical posts on social media for fear of being labelled transphobic or worse.
There is a problem. If you JUST DON'T CARE then click away. Get on with your life. Enjoy the privileges that other women have fought for, and are still fighting for, on your behalf. Just don't come on here and tell them to stop.
