To ask what vegetables you don't like?

I've always thought of myself as being a fussy eater and as someone who doesn't really like veg.

I know I am fussy in that for example, I like bacon crispy and gag if I get a big stringy bit of fat in a bacon sandwich. I can't stand getting gristle in a sausage or burger, basically I'm not a big fan of processed meat. I don't like unexpected bones in food.

When I really think about it though there is only one vegetable that I can think of that I dislike and that's broccoli.

I like all fruit I can't think of a single one I don't like. I'm not saying I'd relish a plate of sprouts, but I love salad and eat most veg if cooked and seasoned well. If I was to go round the fruit and veg aisle literally the only thing I wouldn't like to eat is the broccoli.

I wonder if I'm not that fussy after all.

Not a fan of potatoes unless they’re fried or crisp roasted (basically fried). Everything else is manna from heaven for this vegan. Everything.

I’m proper fussy about veg.

I love broccoli, carrots and onions in their various cooked forms. Not fond of cauli but I can force it down. Pretty much hate all others - peas and mushrooms being particularly hated! I also dislike most salad - for me, salad isn’t diet food because I have to disguise it with so much salad dressing. I just dislike the crunch of most raw veg and yes I wish I wasn’t as fussy!

Smother it in butter and seasoning and it's all good. (Not beetroot though, that tastes like soil)

Don't like sprouts or kale.

Bit over butternut squash.

Never been that much of a fan of sweet potato, I prefer normal potatoes.

Can't stand the taste of broad beans, but like other beans. Cauliflower and Brussels I find pretty dull. Will eat out of politeness. I used to hate courgette but like it as an adult. Don't like pineapple and not a big fan of passionfruit. Can't think of any others.

I think it's definitely a texture/sensory thing. That's why I hate broccoli because of its texture. I want to teach myself to like it though because I know it's good for you.

I seem to like a lot of unusual things that many people don't, such as mushrooms, celery and beetroot.

I hate broad beans, mushrooms, beetroot and raw carrot- it just turns to tasteless orange sawdust in my mouth.

I've just prepped tomorrow's lunch- thinly sliced raw sprouts, with roasted cauliflower and broccoli, and a sprinkle of Parmesan Grin

I am not wild about roast parsnips although I will eat them in a soup.
Other than that I think I like all veg. And fruit.

Sprouts and iceberg lettuce. I'm also not keen on cauliflower, but will eat it chopped up finely in, say, curries, or peas.

Lima beans, cooked cauliflower but I like it raw, tomatoes and bananas

Nothing pickled in vinegar like beetroot and onions. I thought I hated beetroot until I followed a baby weaning recipe and realised you can buy them without the vinegar and they just taste bland.
Love all fruit except pomegranate and lychee.

My mum has always said that I would "eat shit if it was infront of me" but DO NOT even think about putting peas anywhere near my plate. And cucumber.

Celery
Green peppers
Don't go out of my way to eat sprouts but I don't mind them
Don't like okra, it's slimy

Raw tomatoes are tolerable with something else I. E in a salad is fine, sliced raw on their own, meh

Cooked carrots (I love raw), parsnips, broad beans, beetroot and avocado (although I can handle small bits of avocado in a salad). I also hate coconut and watermelon.

Raw celery - tastes nasty.

And legumes in pods, so mange tout, runner beans and so on. Not so much the taste as the fact that I can't eat them without gagging because the texture is all wrong.

I have a mixed relationship with actual peas. I find them too round in my mouth and sometimes other tings on the plate, like ketchup, make them taste funny. I like them best smothered in gravy.

I hate and cannot eat because they make me gag carrots, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, turnip, courgette, sprouts, green beans, broad beans, beetroot, aubergine, avocado, leeks, bean sprouts, water chestnuts, and corn on the cob. All are vile.

I like everything that's been mentioned except kale and fennel.

Turnip is the only vegetable I dislike, but I’ll eat it if it’s put in front of me. I find the texture of okra disagreeable, but I like it’s flavour.

You fussy bastards! Wink

I like all veg, unless it's been massively overcooked. Mushy watery pappy yeuch.

I can eat any vegetable as long as it's not overcooked and seasoned correctly. But I can't eat Swede, reminds me of school dinners and overcooked swede. I've tried roasting it, sauteeing it and steaming it, cooking it in soup yuk yuk yuk yuk bleugh

AlecOrAlonzo · 18/03/2018 23:51

I am not fond of bananas, swede or baby sweetcorn. I'll eat them but there are better things to put in my mouth.

Broad bean haters - double pod them. You need to take their jackets off them once they're cooked. they are bright green inside. It's an oddly satisfying job.

Not keen on swede turnip and cooked cauliflower that's still hard.
While I like some fruit and veg more than others there isn't anything much I won't eat.
I'm having a salad of chopped up chard, carrots, cherry tomatoes and raw peas for lunch tomorrow.
