To find this alarmingly sexy?

I am a 41-year old feminist who's done all the reading about socialisation and gender stereotyping and yadda yadda yadda. DH put a magnetic knife strip up in the kitchen yesterday and was looking all solid and competent whilst wielding a drill and wearing a jumper. I was overcome by a desire to shag him.*

I'm hormonal and it had been a while, so I'm hoping that that was what was behind it, rather than me contemplating a future where I am turned on by the sight of fortysomething men engaged in minor acts of DIY. Saying that, I've asked him to think about putting up some shelves

*Unfortunately we have friends, and they were on their way.

Did you find yourself involuntarily rubbing your thighs?

TSSDNCOP · 18/03/2018 13:19

Well hopefully they’ll leave early.

You could get quite a list of jobs done if you play your cards right.

Fruitcocktail6 · 18/03/2018 13:20

YANBU at all. I love it when DP does DIY.

SneakyGremlins · 18/03/2018 13:20

Was it like the music video for satisfaction? Grin

ButchyRestingFace · 18/03/2018 13:21

Was it an especially large drill?

Echobelly · 18/03/2018 13:22

I find it quite sexy that DH is actually fairly useful around the house (having grown up with a father who was hopeless at it!)

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 18/03/2018 13:22

If they bend down and show builders bum it normally puts paid to it.

mimibunz · 18/03/2018 13:23

Did you do the slow Jack Russell on him?

picklemepopcorn · 18/03/2018 13:39

I do like a competent looking bloke. I've seen historical enactors rehearsing sword play, and horsemen in a Wild West show. Oh and firemen running into your building. All have the same effect (and not much else does!)

AwkwardSquad · 18/03/2018 14:01

😂

Ginza · 18/03/2018 14:08

Is it wrong that my fantasy of DH doing DIY tasks is both more exciting and less believable than any of my sexual fantasies?

caroline161 · 18/03/2018 14:24

YANBU

"You could get quite a list of jobs done if you play your cards right."

I foolishly informed DH of the effect his drill-wielding had on me, so I expect the bribery will be all the other way. "If you want to objectify me whilst I'm putting in a rawlplug then I'll need something in return. Quid pro quo, Ivanova. Quid pro quo."

"Was it an especially large drill?"

More than adequate, and wielded with a certain amount of elan.

Nothing as sexy as competence, IMO.

Love the username Ivanova. Ivanova is God.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 18/03/2018 14:31
Grin General DIY doesnt do much but once he starts using a saw Shock fans self Grin
NomDeWho · 18/03/2018 14:33

It does it for me too, or when he puts his arm round the passenger seat to reverse the car.

I don't know why the disregard for the rear view mirror or basic DIY is such a turn on but I learnt to trade household jobs for sex a good while ago. The giddy heights of a long marriage...

Only downside is I can't go to B&Q but that probably a positive too.

Competence makes my heart swell. A friend of mine once referred to "competence porn" and I knew exactly what she meant. It's why I loved The Martian. (And the second book by the same author which is all about people being really good at welding.)

Saw the jack russelling thread this morning and it nearly undid all the good work done by the knife rack.

I do love a nice tool belt, and those chaps who climb the trees in the park, be still my throbbing ovaries!
