What areas of Manchester are nice to live in? Minimum 3 bed, family style life

How close to the city centre do you want to be? South Manchester is nicer but more expensive - wilmslow, alderley, didsbury, prestbury are all nice.

Sorry, posted too soon! Cheadle/cheadle Hulme and poynton are nice too and a bit cheaper

Within 20 minutes but looking as cheap as possible so will be reasonable with regards to location. It has to be safe and have greenery to play on locally

South Manchester- Disbury, A34 coridoor.

The nicer areas of manchester within 20 minutes aren't cheap. Maybe Old Trafford or Umston which are slowly moving upmarket. But even then for a 3 bed you're looking at close to 300k

Prestwich. Family friendly, Heaton Park, being gentrified but safe and has amenities, 15 mins on tram to town.

You'll not get much greenery close to Manchester.
From the East Lancs side the houses are cheaper.
Salford, Moorside, Kearsley, Swinton, Worsley, anywhere around here is cheaper than the dizzy high prices in Cheshire.

20 minutes is just an ideal, I appreciate for our budget we'll have t compromise...no where near 300k. I haven't heard of Umston though, I will google

Try these, within 5 miles of city centre.

North is cheaper than south as a rule. Maybe Bury? Its about 25 minutes on the tram into the centre of manchester.

Levenshulme is up and coming and still pretty cheap but houses are getting snapped up there in hours and the market is growing quickly.

Urmston is lovely and nothing like Old Trafford mentioned upthread! Affordable housing, great schools, some good bars and restaurants, great transport links

Salford Quays is just gorgeous

Wilmslow, Alderley and Prestbury aren't Manchester either, they are in Cheshire and all pretty expensive

The Quays ARE gorgeous but it's all flats isn't it?

We're commutable in Wigan, check out prices in Winstanley - close to M6 and one of the nicer areas of Wigan, but still cheaper than a lot of places

Ah ok - well, it won't meet your commute criteria, but just as a wild card, you can get a hell of a lot of house and Yorkshire scenery for your money in places further north like todmorden, ripponden etc.

Whitefield, prestwich are nice too.
