Date movie.
It has alisonhannigan in and we thought it might be light hearted
It was dire. Utter crap. And I have a high threshold for crap, can watch most rubbish as long as its entertaining

When my son was still in his teens a dozen or so years ago, at Christmas, I bought him "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" not main pressie, stocking filler. It's one of a number of things he didn't take with him when he left home a couple of years ago to live with girlfriend. Maybe I should watch it, I don't think he ever gave me feedback. I think the name alone would qualify it Grin

GabsAlot · 08/03/2018 18:55

oh i love shallw hal but then thats my sort of sense of humour

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 08/03/2018 19:47

I liked Shallow Hal when it came out. I watched it again a few months ago and realised how horrific it was! Such a terrible message with all the fat shaming.

I'm embarrassed to say I love a few of the films mentioned here (Bridesmaids, Twilight).

Films like Cabin in the Woods, Drag me to Hell, anything with Adam Sandler/Will Ferrell are generally atrocious though Grin.

mrsBeverleyGoldberg · 08/03/2018 20:06

I loved Cabin in the Woods. I think it's funny. I also love Hot Tub Time Machine. I promise I'm not a teenage boy.
I thought Girl on the Train spent too long on the 'drunk woman is confused ' and not enough time on the interesting dynamic between the current wife, ex and husband.
I couldn't watch the film Raven. John Cusak being Edgar Allen Po. Five minutes in and a slicing machine... nope.

KichenDancefloor · 08/03/2018 22:11

@CoffeeAndCupcakes85 oh no now you've mentioned Will Ferrell, I've remembered Anchorman 2. I had managed to wipe that from my memory.

GabsAlot · 09/03/2018 12:51

i think the message was good hal realised it was personality that counts not looks he loved her whatever she looked like

HungerOfThePine · 09/03/2018 13:31

Starting to think I have poor taste in movies alot of the ones mentioned I have enjoyed Blush.

Current worst movie for me is Les miserables the musical version.
3 attempts to watch it where I switched it off after 10 or 20 mins I kept trying as most people loved it. 4th attempt I had it on in the background on mute with subtitles, still don't get it.

MinesaPinot · 09/03/2018 14:04

I haven't read the whole thread so apologies if this has been mentioned previously, but my most loathed film is Raging Bull. What a load of turgid shite.

And Rocky, and the Blair Witch Project.

Also, considering how much I love the stage show, I was quite underwhelmed with the film version of Les Mis - I think it was Russell Crowe that didn't do it for me - but I unashamedly love Mamma Mia and Moulin Rouge which were mentioned earlier in the thread.

AthenasOwl · 09/03/2018 14:05

Speaking of will Ferrell ..the one where he goes to prison Get Hard ..shite

YoloSwaggins · 09/03/2018 14:13

Passengers with Anne Hathaway in it (not Jennifer Lawrence) is AWFUL

Peanutbuttercups21 · 09/03/2018 22:18

I'm off to google that whoopi phone movie Grin

I am intrigued!

ItsMeUsername · 09/03/2018 23:05

Ooh, we love a good crappy film in this house, it's an actual thing we do. My submissions:

British 'gangster' films:
The Intent
Brotherhood
The Weekend

All absolutely AWFUL! You'll love to hate them.

Slightly weird but equally terrible:
No Way Out (Kevin Costner 80's)
The Guest

And most recently:

Kingsman 2. Not very good sadly.

And whoever said The Langoliers, you take that back!!! That is a 3 hour classic!

KaliforniaDreamz · 10/03/2018 17:23

Ive never watched Le Mis (on stage or film) but i did love Greatest Showman.
Find hte actress in MammaMa a little annoying. actually starting to find Meryl a bit annoying, too. overacting.
Moulin Rouge - no thanks. hire people who can actually sing.
I found Usual Suspects really dull.

I loved Clueless but the malem embers of my household do not agree.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/03/2018 17:30

My top few worst films are:

Mulholland Drive
Crash (the Lynch one, not the one with Thandie Newton et al)
Sin City

I’m sure there’s more, but I can’t think of them right now!

KatharinaRosalie · 10/03/2018 17:34

On a Mumsnet thread recommendation, watched Stepbrothers. 'Sooo funny, laugh out loud hilarious' it was supposed to be. If you're 7 years old and like fart jokes, possibly.

Pinkflipflop85 · 10/03/2018 17:44

Surely 'monster family' should be at the top of this list!

MickHucknallspinkpancakes · 10/03/2018 17:45

@gingergenius i was the same about Nicolas Cage but the only thing that saves his bacon for me is 8mm.

I have to give him that.

I was recommended City Of Angels after mentioning 8mm to a colleague.

I watched it last week. It was utter utter bolleaux.

MickHucknallspinkpancakes · 10/03/2018 17:48

@MinesaPinot YY to Blair Witch.

People are agog when I say it was utter shite.

If I want to watch someone dripping snot in an anorak for two hours I'll take DS camping in Derby in February. Hmm

NoWordForFluffy · 10/03/2018 17:48

I’ve recalled more reading this thread:

Vanilla Sky
Lost in Translation
Brokeback Mountain
Manchester by the Sea
Girl on a Train
Syriana (not seen it mentioned but dull as sodding ditchwater)

I turned all of these off relatively quickly, it has to be said!

NoWordForFluffy · 10/03/2018 17:53

I meant David Cronenberg's Crash; it's bloody awful!

MrsKoala · 10/03/2018 18:21

I liked Crash.

Andylion · 10/03/2018 18:24

On a Mumsnet thread recommendation, watched Stepbrothers.

Multiple posters insisted that Grease II was better than Grease.

They were incorrect. Criminally incorrect.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 10/03/2018 18:29

@carbuncleonapigsposterior the sequel to killer tomatoes has George Clooney in it..one film he doesn't seem to tak about much.

Foxylass · 11/03/2018 08:40

Brilliant thread!
1, La la land (what was that all about?)
2, The rocky horror picture show (turned off after half an hour)
3, behind the candelabra (turned off after 20 mins)
4, the dressmaker (pointless and not interesting)
5, cabaret (my DH was surprised that I hadn't seen Cabaret - I'm 43 years old and should have encountered it???. He really likes it so we watched it......meh - not impressed not offended. I don't think I need to see it again though).

I could go on.

Inside out!!
Cowboys and aliens
Paranormal activity

BattleaxeGalactica · 12/03/2018 08:50

I hate Blair witch first time round. Watched it again and loved it.
One of the most chilling endings ever.

I liked Brokeback Mountain but was hugely peeved to have to play the ending back with subtitles due to Heath Ledger's incoherent mumbling Angry

Have never risked La La Land. I hate musicals and musicals with twee names and promo pics leave me even colder.
