To say I'm not your fucking mum?

Argh, fed up of seeing people say "you got this mama" or something along those lines on Instagram/FB!

Or answering a post and calling you mama/mumma

I'm not your Mum. You didn't fly from my Fanny flaps. Only my son gets to call me mum/mummy and even he wouldn't use a wanky phrase like 'mama'

AIBU?

I've never seen that, nor had it directed at me. Strange.

DrewBerry95 · 28/02/2018 21:50

Francis I'm he genuinely surprised you haven't seen it used

CherryMaDeary · 28/02/2018 21:50

DrewBerry95 · 28/02/2018 21:52

YANBU OP. It grates on me.

A child using the word doesn't bother me obviously.. it's adults that use it like you describe.

FrancisUnderwood · 28/02/2018 21:53

I don't associate in Kardashian style circles on social media. I assume it's a follow on from all that madness...

DrewBerry95 · 28/02/2018 21:53

Cows Thank you. I'm surprised people are saying they've never seen it used!

Goldfishshoals · 28/02/2018 21:54

It doesn't bother me online. In hospital for a week after giving birth when several nurses felt the need to call me 'mum' was pretty weird.

Especially as I am (wankily) 'mama' not 'mum' to my kids.

DrewBerry95 · 28/02/2018 21:54

Francis just seems to have become a very
popular word among generic Mum groups, for some reason

Mama is awful, as is Mumma.

I loathe hearing it.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 28/02/2018 22:02

Mumma is horrible. Fanny flaps is worse though.

KerplunkChampion · 28/02/2018 22:04

I'm in one nutso WhatsApp group (anti vax etc) and they say this ALL THE TIME, usually to comfort the person whose ebf 10yo won't stop hitting them.

gingergenius · 28/02/2018 22:05

Maybe get off social media then? 😬

acquiesce · 28/02/2018 22:07

When health visitors and the like are talking to you (especially in front of other adults) and go ‘what does mum think’?? Angry I DON’T KNOW GO AND FUCKING ASK HER

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 28/02/2018 22:10

Mumma is horrible. Fanny flaps is worse though

This ^^

That said, I've never seen it either.

WhiteRabbitWhiteRabbit · 28/02/2018 22:12

What's wrong with mama?

BiologyMatters · 28/02/2018 22:12

Some people get worked up over the most insignificant things.

AvocadoLovingMamaOfOne · 28/02/2018 22:13

Blush I never knew people thought mama was wanky Blush

Eilasor · 28/02/2018 22:13

It is odd hearing English people say Mama (sounds forced sometimes), but no need for it to enrage you.

We lived in Germany when my children learned to talk so Mama is natural. When in Germany I would refer to a child's mother as "Katie's Mama" but over here I would say "Katie's Mummy/Mum".

I've never seen mums calling each other Mumma/Mama, though - so perhaps I'm missing the point.

DrewBerry95 · 28/02/2018 22:13

White nothing, providing the person calling me it is my own child and not a grown adult using it as a wanly term of endearment
