To cringe when people just x at the end of their post?

I’m from a place in the UK where it’s common to put x at the end of a text, card etc

But even I find it really cringey when a poster puts an x at the end of their post .., I’m seeing it more and more on here.

I’ve done it. Some of the posts I’ve replied to, the OP is in some considerable pain and I guess that’s just my useless way of adding sympathy and to let the OP know I am thinking about them.

Had I known it would be so annoying to others on here, I would have done it more

To be fair sometimes when you’re texting and MN it can get confusing, I put ‘x’ at the end of most of my texts and I do sometimes do it at the end on my MN posts, luckily so far I’ve noticed before I hit post. I’m sure the day will come when I don’t though

Its either by accident or because a poster is genuinely trying to empathise with someone going through a tough time.

I don’t think anyone is doing it in that mindless, ‘yeah hun, you totally know best, say strong yeah? X’ way. And if there were they’d be ridiculed enough on here without you needing to start a stressy thread about it.
