To cringe when people just x at the end of their post?

I’m from a place in the UK where it’s common to put x at the end of a text, card etc

But even I find it really cringey when a poster puts an x at the end of their post .., I’m seeing it more and more on here.

OP posts:

Xxx

sonjadog · 24/02/2018 20:55

Uneducated? Why would it be uneducated? x

beargryllshasabigrope · 24/02/2018 20:55

And some people come across as snobby and judgemental... xxx

JeReviens · 24/02/2018 20:55

Uneducated Grin Grin Now that is a bit rich Grin

Aurea · 24/02/2018 20:55

X

NooNooHead · 24/02/2018 20:56

I’m here for you OP... holding your hand.

I agree with others that it can be a kind gesture towards a poster who sounds very upset or distressed - nothing wrong with a bit of support or sympathy! Hmm

Here, have my first Biscuit and a xxx

VanillaSugar · 24/02/2018 20:56

Xxxx

Amanduh · 24/02/2018 20:57

Yes, a kiss at the end of a message is SO uneducated.
Suck on my phd etc etc.
Xxx

Vitalogy · 24/02/2018 20:57

I don't give my kisses away easily Grin
I just find it friendly if anyone does it though.

Mum2jenny · 24/02/2018 20:57

I always put an x in any communications with my dc or dh. Why not? I'm not immature or uneducated but I'd rather not post all my qualifications xxxxx

troodiedoo · 24/02/2018 20:58

I've seen a few such posts which are obviously accidental. Or if OP is upset then it's appropriate. Hardly an epidemic of hun-itus. Yabu.

MermaidTailUnicornHorn · 24/02/2018 20:58

It’s also embarrassing that people are still commenting “x” on this thread despite the other 10 people doing it ... thinking it’s an original hilarious comment. Confused ... nope you’re just an unoriginal twit Grin

OP posts:
sonjadog · 24/02/2018 20:58

We aren't doing it to be original, we are doing it to be annoying. x

usernameunavailable · 24/02/2018 20:59

troodiedoo · 24/02/2018 20:59

I now have save all your kisses for me stuck in my head. Very U.

MermaidTailUnicornHorn · 24/02/2018 20:59

You communicate with your dc and dh over mumsnet? Or you just couldn’t understand my original post.

HolyMountain · 24/02/2018 21:00

I don’t put x on anything other than Birthday cards to my children.

What with Hun, hubs and bubba I’ve seen on here lately it’s the lesser of those evils.

chandlersfraud · 24/02/2018 21:00

I've done it by mistake before, also on Facebook, then cringed at myself.

SinceWhenDid · 24/02/2018 21:00

Only one? They must be annoyed. Surely 2 is standard?

JeReviens · 24/02/2018 21:00

Well this thread is not original by a long long way so I guess that makes you, OP, a bit of a tedious twit who can’t even be arsed to use AS to find out if a subject has already been done to death.

MermaidTailUnicornHorn · 24/02/2018 21:00

But it doesn’t annoy me Hmm and I never once said it did.

I said it makes me cringe. But that would only be when it’s genuinely being used. Couldn’t give a toss otherwise.

TheNewSchmoo · 24/02/2018 21:00

I'm with you OP, not uneducated but definitely tacky.

Not as bad as "hun" though.... I hate that.

Yes I’m the first poster to ever post about something that’s been discussed before. Maybe next I’ll start a trans thread.

OP posts:
ilovesooty · 24/02/2018 21:02

I've seen some posters do it at the end of every post, however mundane, and I do think it's a bit strange.
