Trump: If a potential “sicko shooter” knows that a school has a large number of very weapons talented teachers (and others) who will be instantly shooting, the sicko will NEVER attack that school

This has to be a new low. Even for Trump. It's absurd.

OP posts:
Cavender · 22/02/2018 14:35

Yes well he’s an idiot. He’s listening to the NRA not to public opinion.

almostgotfreemilk · 22/02/2018 14:35

He's a fucking idiot and he should just get in the sea.

Clandestino · 22/02/2018 14:36

TBH, this sounded like the ultimate insanity. Strangely, there were people in discussions who actually agreed with that. I lost my faith in humanity. It's good we are doomed.

TheArtOfNoise · 22/02/2018 14:37

He's nuts! But we all knew that anyway Sad

Roussette · 22/02/2018 14:37

He was worse last night lamenting the end of the days when there were mental institutions to put people in yet not listening to very eloquent people begging for help with mental services for troubled teens.

ohfourfoxache · 22/02/2018 14:38

So the solution to the gun problem is........more guns

He’s a dangerous fucking wankstain Angry

Clandestino · 22/02/2018 15:27

A friend was in the US on a business trip recently.
He was disgusted with the general obsession with military, weapons and heroism which only comes with a weapon in hand.
After the shooting he only said: I lost any compassion after the recent visit. I fully get what happened and why but I can't feel sorry for anybody because they will never abandon that culture and will always want to keep weapons available to everybody, no matter how many lives it takes.

TemporarySign · 22/02/2018 17:35

It's Trump. Once more unto the wind-up from the country that brought you ' a visionthing'.

Newsthump have got the only possible responses to his incredible levels of stupidity. newsthump.com/2018/02/15/america-horrified-as-object-designed-to-kill-human-beings-is-repeatedly-used-to-kill-human-beings/
and
newsthump.com/2018/02/20/teacher-with-dream-of-nourishing-young-minds-fortunately-also-quite-keen-on-learning-how-to-kill-people/

You've almost got to admire America for the depths of the lunacy offered over there. Thanks for the daily reminder that, at least in the UK, we're not American.

SersioulycanitgetWORSE · 22/02/2018 19:10

Good link temporary Grin it's so bizarre I can get my head around it.

Pengggwn · 22/02/2018 19:15

It really annoyed me that he spoke for the sports coach who was killed, saying if he had had a gun he would have shot and ended the incident. Says who? What if, instead, gr had chosen to never pick up a gun and leave a teaching rather than be charged with killing - potentially - a disturbed child?

No place for guns in schools. The only way to ensure they don't get into schools is to stop handing them out like sweeties.

SpringHen · 22/02/2018 19:19

What if the sicko IS the teacher. Or a recently fired teacher who knows where the teacher guns are stored.

I had a teacher in school who had a break down and lost it, REALLY lost in in class. If they'd had a gun rather than just stuff to throw god knows what woulda happened?

Pengggwn · 22/02/2018 19:22

SpringHen

Very true.

AngelsSins · 22/02/2018 19:30

Has he even considered that some teachers may not want this horrific responsibility to be added to their job descriptions? I can't get over how thick this guy is.

John4703 · 22/02/2018 19:31

If Obamacare had been funded and continued by Trump maybe some of these disturbed young people would have got the help they needed and would not have felt the need to kill.
The problem is that the mentally ill do not have millions of dollars to donate to a fund to help anyone run for president but the NRA has those millions.

Pengggwn · 22/02/2018 19:31

AngelsSins

Exactly. It's not something you can reasonably ask another person, who got into education to discuss and teach people about the subjects they love, to do.

HairyBallTheorem · 22/02/2018 19:33

ABC news did a fascinating piece several years back (in fact 2009 - I just checked the date) showing that carrying a concealed weapon, even if you'd just been on a weapons training course, even if you shot regularly, would not help you in the slightest in the event of encountering a nutter with a semi-automatic. You wouldn't even get it out of its holster/your handbag before you were shot. It's well worth a look (I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but still, great piece of documentary making).

LakieLady · 22/02/2018 19:33

Trump's idiocy knows no bounds.

It seems even worse compared to the dignified and moving speeches made by so many young people in favour of gun control.

ScipioAfricanus · 22/02/2018 19:37

I’ve read Naomi Klein’s book ‘No is not enough’ and it gives an illuminating assessment of his character. She basically says, as a reality tv star/self-advertisement, his main motivation is saying the most absurd or controversial thing as that keeps him in the eye. This makes the most sense to me when trying to understand his insane ramblings.

If we considered the idea as an actual idea, another big problem is that teachers would be worried about firing on a pupil and then being sued and prosecuted for using excessive force (not that that stops all police in the US, but still) - and emotionally, would it really be that easy even if you were trained etc to fire on Ben from period 3 science? But different when it’s someone you know and you’re in a caring profession. But beurgh, I can’t believe I’m even bothering to think about Trump’s idiocy.

BarbarianMum · 22/02/2018 19:44

Oh I think it's an excellent idea. And then, when a few teachers have lost it and gone on the rampage, then can arm the kids. And after that, who knows? Maybe chemical weapons?

SunnySeaShell · 22/02/2018 19:47

There are literally no words for the new low that this is, what an utterly ludicrous suggestion Angry

Fekko · 22/02/2018 19:50

So 1) my sister is a 60-something, very short teacher in the US - not a hope, Trumpy
2) as someone else pointed out - that will make teachers the first target of shooters
3) guns, good - more guns fucking fantastic! Doesn’t really compute
4) the man’s an idiot
5) I wonder what he’d say if the school was one that one of his family was attending?
6) he had crib notes like a small child narrating the nativity play at school (see point 4)
7) didn’t the NRA give him shit loads for his campaign - so a blatant issue there

mrsBeverleyGoldberg · 22/02/2018 20:06

I was a teacher and taught a child who couldn't be around even rulers because they'd be used as a weapon or self harm in class. I'd worry about having a gun in the room, even with neurotypical children who'd accidentally shoot someone while pissing around with the gun.
I can't even begin to understand Trump. Just when you think the man can go no lower...

geekymommy · 22/02/2018 20:15

Sicko shooters are well known for being rational in planning where they're going to shoot people. Particularly teenage sicko shooters, because teenagers always think things out completely before they do them.

geekymommy · 22/02/2018 20:18

To Clandestino's friend: it's not all of us, or even most of us. Most households in the US don't have guns. A lot of people who do have guns have them for something like hunting and don't intend to use them to shoot at people. It's a very visible and very odious minority.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 22/02/2018 20:18

Teacher with gun.. Gotta get the gun out.. Aim it and fire at the one right target...

Person with gun.. Be shooting at whoever.. Like said probably the teacher first. There is no logic to this. Who wants to be in a classroom where this is the done thing. Who'd want that responsibility as well.. Madness
