I was really shocked and depressed to see this. It feels like an epidemic:

He's said some things about hatred since losing his wife that were so right - but now this has come out.

It's hard not to think all men are the problem when these stories are so frequent, even though I know that's not true from the lovely men in my own life!! I'm trying to see it as a positive thing that more women are being encouraged to report these things and that's why it's in the news more, as maybe that will help younger generations of boys to grow up NOT thinking it's ok to assault women.

I bet Forsyth is leaving with a very nice ongoing financial package and the promise of future consultancy work etc.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 22/02/2018 18:24

It sounds like he was a serial sex pest at save the children and was only asked to leave when a few women got together and threatened to go to the police

It was 12 women. They didn’t go to the police or threaten to as far as I’m aware. But they did all put in formal written complaints around the same time. Not sure if this was organised or just a domino effect.

maladroit · 22/02/2018 18:38

Elton I remember seeing 12 but can't find a source for this anywhere now, do you have one?

12 isn't "a mistake", it's calculated actions that you think/know you will get away with.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 22/02/2018 19:04

The more I read the angrier I get frankly

Eltonjohnssyrup · 22/02/2018 21:47

Yes, I know someone who worked right at the centre of it who knows and filled me in...

Eltonjohnssyrup · 22/02/2018 21:48

And it was totally calculated. Apparently he tried it on with almost every woman at STC.

maladroit · 22/02/2018 21:53

Thanks Elton

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 22/02/2018 23:14

And a formal written complaint isn’t something someone does lightly . Or easily . They go down like a cup of cold sick with HR (for some weird reason)

GrimDamnFanjo · 22/02/2018 23:33

I worked in government with a senior civil servant who harassed half a dozen women in one area, even when the whistle was blown, nothing happened, he was just moved along to another area.
I'm not remotely surprised about the charity sector either, I've worked for 3 and found the hr function varied quite a bit.

Shimmershimmerandshine · 23/02/2018 08:15

Note - I think the vast vast majority of people who work in the charity sector are motivated by positive ideals and the desire to make things better.

Hmmm not sure I reckon most of them are motivated in the same way as people who work in the public or private sector. Working for a 'charity' (whatever that means) does not make you a morally better person than someone who works for a different type of organisation. A teacher who works at a 'charity' private school is hardly motivated by good more than one who works at an LEA controlled one in a large city.

remember, he was behaving like this during his marriage.
