The Scottish Government's consultation on changes to the GRA closes on 1st March 2018.

The rest of the UK will likely follow Scotland's decision, so this is your chance to make your views known.

For those who don't yet understand the risks to women from changes to the Gender Recognition Act, please read this document. It is pretty straightforward

leyaterra.wordpress.com/2018/02/06/gender-the-gra-and-womens-rights/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

Then please complete the Scottish Government's consultation.

You do NOT have to be Scottish or live in Scotland to complete it.

The brilliant Dr Nic Williams wrote a guide to the consultation

fairplayforwomen.com/scottish-consultation/

PLEASE complete it and pass to friends/family

Thanks OP, I'd have missed this if you hadn't shared and it gave me the chance to express my full support for the GRA, and for trans rights generally Smile

I completed this at the weekend. It will be interesting to see what the published results say. Especially as "TERFS are flooding the responses", according to one prolific twitter user: twitter.com/mimmymum/status/966017231867072512

Patodp · 26/02/2018 15:39

Really... Soc accounts and attacks?

I hope there isn't a frenzy encouraging TRAs to flood the responses fake sock accounts. That's their style.

AhhhhThatsBass · 26/02/2018 16:15

It worries me that men can self identify as women with no medical evidence and will have access to womens public toilets, all girls' schools/colleges, womens prisons and will be able to compete as a women. Surely there are all sorts of safety issues at play here.
I have signed the consultation.

SmurfOrTerf · 26/02/2018 16:35

That tweet its very quick maybe I did the wrong one. It took me over an hour.
Cecily I agree, when it got to the non-binary questions I wanted to stab myself in the eyes so I couldn't read any more of that shit

Soc - seriously they are too lazy to spell sock Hmm

Maryz · 26/02/2018 17:01

I suppose "it's very quick" is true if you just go through it merrily ticking the "it's all going to be fine" boxes throughout.

Even reading and deciding what the questions meant took me over an hour. And frothing took me about a week, before I summoned the will to go back and do it property.

SmurfOrTerf · 26/02/2018 17:06

Maryz I'm sure my blood pressure shot up. Surely some of the female Scottish MP's must think this is BS, are they all be forced to keep quiet ?

saivartelija · 26/02/2018 19:29

done... finally. It didn't take too long in the end, and the fair play for women site really helped get through it.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3180050-Invited-to-talk-at-the-House-of-Lords

There's an active thread atm about a trans murderer and rapist invited to talk in the House of Lords about about how life can be improved for transgender prisoners. Lord Patel who invited her believes Jones debt to society has been paid. It's bloody shocking.

Polynerd · 28/02/2018 00:16

BUMP - hardly any time left...

Just going to leave this here. More me, myself. Not literally me

Alternativefacts · 28/02/2018 00:44

Anyone able to suggest a link to a good brief overview of the issues to encourage people to respond to this consultation? was thinking of posting the consultation link to my Facebook feed but think lots of people won’t have been following the issues so need some kind of intro. No idea whether any of my FB friends are mumsnetters!
