The Scottish Government's consultation on changes to the GRA closes on 1st March 2018.

The rest of the UK will likely follow Scotland's decision, so this is your chance to make your views known.

For those who don't yet understand the risks to women from changes to the Gender Recognition Act, please read this document. It is pretty straightforward

Then please complete the Scottish Government's consultation.

You do NOT have to be Scottish or live in Scotland to complete it.

The brilliant Dr Nic Williams wrote a guide to the consultation

PLEASE complete it and pass to friends/family

Shove it on Facebook people. Keep it circulating on social media. The media has been not surprisingly very quiet about this.

misscockerspaniel · 01/03/2018 09:50

Mother Nature has given you a snow day. She wants and needs you to complete and submit this online consultation by 5pm today. Please don't let her down.

Kokeshi123 · 01/03/2018 11:53

Just submitted mine!

It took me about 12 minutes in total. It only has to take a long time if you choose to write lots and lots. I mostly just put down some shortish comments (and nothing at all in about half the boxes). I'd encourage anyone to whizz through it even if they are busy---it does not have to take very long at all!

Absofrigginlootly · 01/03/2018 13:37

Bumpity bump

SmurfOrTerf · 01/03/2018 14:35

There is still time

but not much

Catabogus · 01/03/2018 15:23

There’s still time to do this. If you just tick boxes and don’t add the “free text” stuff, I’d say you could do it in under 10 minutes.

MadMags · 01/03/2018 15:23

Last window of time!

Floisme · 01/03/2018 15:42

Done. I didn't add many comments as I wasn't sure how many pages there were and the whole thing took 5-10 minutes. Thanks for the reminder.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 01/03/2018 15:56

Eep just seen this now!

Stuck on question 10.

misscockerspaniel · 01/03/2018 16:10

Gentle reminder. (Goes to find cattle prod).

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 01/03/2018 16:11

(Can someone explain question 10 to me? Blush)

misscockerspaniel · 01/03/2018 16:21

PainiTheEar

fairplayforwomen.com/Scotland might be helpful.

Q10 relates to any changes to S.22 (prohibition on disclosure) ie privacy. The Daily Mail online is today carrying a pertinent article, please read. Essentially, judges are being told that trans are a special case - you need to read it quickly.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 01/03/2018 16:30

I've read the fairplay link but am still not sure what the framing of the question is suggesting.

not to abdicate all responsibility for my own critical thinking but please tell me whether to click yes or no because I have to pick the kids up and abandon the computer and am running out of time

winterinmadeira · 01/03/2018 16:36

Thanks for the bump. I’ve just completed it and realised that the impact assessments are missing a broad Health Impact Assessment. Something needed and which covers the impact of this proposed act on the physical and mental well-being of women

misscockerspaniel · 01/03/2018 16:38

Don't panic. In the comment box, reiterate that you are against self-ID. Complete the rest of the form. Submit it asap (by 5pm).

It says that you can go back and re-visit the form. So maybe, you can go back and do it. Sorry, from memory, Q10 was just a biased non-question. But the article in todays Mail has given me some thoughts.....

Absofrigginlootly · 01/03/2018 16:40

Pain - I didn't understand that question properly either. I think I said I thought there should be amendments (based on the list of exemption examples they gave) and then in the comments section I put that I felt there were many situations where people had a right to know if the person in position of power was genetically male and in possession of a working penis - like in healthcare performing intimate exams, or rape centers, DV centres.

Maybe I completely misunderstood it, but I feel like my comments explained my reasoning

misscockerspaniel · 01/03/2018 16:44

Q10 how about:

Self-ID must not be allowed to be used as a way of preventing the press, police, courts etc from reporting the sex and former identity of a person who has chosen to change gender.

Time4adrink · 01/03/2018 16:49

Completed!

It’s still accepting responses.

Sevendown · 01/03/2018 17:21

Done.

Mymindblown · 01/03/2018 20:50

Oh no I missed it! So disappointed.
