The Scottish Government's consultation on changes to the GRA closes on 1st March 2018.

The rest of the UK will likely follow Scotland's decision, so this is your chance to make your views known.

For those who don't yet understand the risks to women from changes to the Gender Recognition Act, please read this document. It is pretty straightforward

Then please complete the Scottish Government's consultation.

You do NOT have to be Scottish or live in Scotland to complete it.

The brilliant Dr Nic Williams wrote a guide to the consultation

PLEASE complete it and pass to friends/family

Done.
Thanks OP, for this thread and others for their intelligent posts within it, I've had my eyes opened. Someone mentioned Emperor's New Clothes and that's how I've felt for a while when I've watched men exert that they are now women - because biologically that's impossible.

Wasn't Germaine Greer banned from a Uni for calling out the 'Emperor'? It's not a hate crime to state the bleedin' obvious, it's not transphobic, it's the truth and nothing is purer than the truth.
I believe that a man who transitions should be known as a trans-man because they remain male and all men need to learn to accept each other however they present to the world. This is a male thing, males should deal with it and stop foisting it onto women.
I wish I'd seen this sooner, but I'll drum up as much support as I can in the next couple of days.

Does anyone know how we find out about the results of the consultation?

I'm not in the UK but I've filled it out, feel very strongly about this and it really worries me. If this idea comes to my country I will take to the streets to protest against it if I have to.

ohtheholidays · 25/02/2018 21:44

Done OP.

SmurfOrTerf · 26/02/2018 11:50

Thanks Waddle, I'll do it now, and report back later Grin

ignatiusjreilly · 26/02/2018 12:27

Thanks for making me aware of the consultation. I've just filled it in.

If it wasn't for Mumsnet, I would have no idea about any of these proposed reforms or issues. No one I speak to seems to be aware of it. There definitely hasn't been enough debate on the matter. I am extremely concerned that these changes could get rushed through without enough calm consideration on both sides.

Spotted the link on another thread and completed.

Lost count of the amount of times I wrote Sex and Gender are not the same thing. Even explained the difference at the end!

Don't get me started on trying to legalise 'Non-Binary'.

SmurfOrTerf · 26/02/2018 12:57

Well Waddle that took a bit longer than I thought. And halfway through I thought I was going to loose the will to live.
Pity I didn't do it in the evening I feel I deserve Wine

Jux · 26/02/2018 14:15

Bump. LAST FEW DAYS!

BananaFronkle · 26/02/2018 14:21

Done. I must admit I found it very opaque and hard to get what I wanted to say in without feeling I'd slightly shoe-horned it in.

I also 'paraphrased' quite a bit off the two linked documents - both of which are far more coherent than me on this topic. Is that ok do you think? I have saved it to reread and submit later, to check it makes sense.

CecilyP · 26/02/2018 15:01

Lost count of the amount of times I wrote Sex and Gender are not the same thing. Even explained the difference at the end!

Yes, this seemed particularly relevant to the section on civil partnerships. 5.11 The couple cannot continue as civil partners because Scotland does not recognise mixed sex civil partners followed by a number of options in order to rectify this non-problem, as no-one has changed their actual sex!

Don't get me started on trying to legalise 'Non-Binary'.

I think I did get started on this one: no wonder the survey took me all morning to complete!
