Before anyone says it Iโ€™m an absolute idiot for not buying from gumtree in the first place but ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„ I wanted a nice shiny new one!

For first baby we got loaned an ICandy as we thought we were only going to have the one dc.

Then got pregnant with dc2 and HAD to have a new pushchair!

We got an single to double as had two under 2 and eldest child not walking when dc2 came.

As Sodโ€™s law would have it, dc2 hated the buggy and refused to sit in it after 12 months.

The whole thing including cost us ยฃ1100 including car seat bits.

Iโ€™ve been trying to sell it in gumtree for ยฃ400 and not one enquiry apart from one cf who asked if he could borrow it๐Ÿค”

Iโ€™m going to have to give it away for next to nothing, arenโ€™t I?

I loved my iCandy Cherry and was a little sad to sell it. The new owner got a bargain - the whole kit for ยฃ150 and it was immaculate. I was surprised to get so much as I've seen them selling for as little as ยฃ70.

MuncheysMummy · 04/02/2018 20:49

Nobody is a mug for paying ยฃ1k plus for a pram if they can afford it then why not, lots of people like nice things and can afford them some don't or can't that's why some people drive Mercedes/BMW etc and some drive cheap cars! Literally a world of difference between cheap prams and quality ones both in terms of comfort for the baby and usability

TwinklyGiraffe · 04/02/2018 20:50

Itโ€™s the Apple to pear newest model.

I donโ€™t have the receipts, selling it was the last thing on my mind when I got it.

Iโ€™m just ignoring the gleeful mug comments ๐Ÿ™„

I think Iโ€™ll just reduce the price a little.

I donโ€™t mind waiting or if it never sells then so be it. As others said itโ€™s a case of waiting for right buyer.

Iโ€™ve seen them go for loads on eBay. I donโ€™t know if anyone actually bothers to pay and pick them up of course. If I had one to sell, I think Iโ€™d put it on eBay and offer delivery.

WhooooAmI24601 · 04/02/2018 20:54

Definitely go for eBay. We had a Stokke Xplory when DS2 was born and it cost the same as your iCandy, but I loved it and it was so pretty it made parenthood fun! I got ยฃ500 for it on eBay a year later which seemed pretty decent, although DH didn't agree.

ThisLittleKitty · 04/02/2018 20:55

I paid ยฃ350 for my icandy second hand and 100 for the carry cot second hand (only came as a single stroller) but that's because I wanted a certain colour.

TwinklyGiraffe · 04/02/2018 20:56

The problem is Iโ€™m in Northern Ireland so I think postage costs for eBay would be prohibitive

ThisLittleKitty · 04/02/2018 20:56

Oh mine was a peach I don't like the others.

sycamore54321 · 04/02/2018 20:56

Why did you pick the ยฃ400 figure?

Anyway you can make it more useful to you now? Would your youngest child sit in the other seat (I'm not sure how iCandy works but see does swapping the seating arrangements please them any more?). If you need to use a pushchair still, I'd be inclined to try to do whatever it took to make it more attractive to the objecting child - allow them some screen time when seated in it, or a tasty treat or something to make positive associations. Would save you having to sell it.

The problem with expensive prams, as opposed to expensive wedding dresses (another item people think about selling on when justifying the price) is that there is a massive selection of perfectly fine prams in the lower price ranges and so you have much more competition from the brand-new sector.

SuperBeagle · 04/02/2018 21:00

No chance I'd pay what you're asking for a second hand pram, regardless of brand. You can get something brand new for that price.

hungryhenryshouldeatelsewhere · 04/02/2018 21:00

You're not a mug. I paid ยฃ1000 for my pushchair because I wanted to have a new one. I know it's a lot of money but my twins were my first babies and I wanted them to have a shiny new pram Blush

Madcats · 04/02/2018 21:01

Possibly helpful, but not sure....

Definitely go onto Ebay and do an "advanced search" for the model of pushchair to include "completed auctions". That will give you an idea of likely selling price.

Also, if such a page exists on Facebook, ask to become a member of ICandy resellers page.

Having sold a Stokke pushchair on eBay and an Islabike via the F/B group for not too much of a loss of value, it is worth offering to organise a courier quote. Take lots of photos and highlight the most minor blemish.

Some brands keep their value, others don't (not sure what category your pram comes into...but it is worth bearing in mind as your children grow older).

namechangew4nker · 04/02/2018 21:02

Now you have said it is an apple to pear I can see why it's not selling, they don't hold their price as well as the peach.

f83mx · 04/02/2018 21:03

You're not a mug for buying new! but as with lots of baby gear the second hand value despite excellent condition is SIGNIFICANTLY and depressingly low - as others said, try local FB groups where people can come and see condition and/or offer some sort of delivery option.

TheLegendOfBeans · 04/02/2018 21:04

This may kill you but put it on for ยฃ300 and I bet it shifts. I paid ยฃ300 for a 1st gen Peach tandem and it's been choppy (weird peeling on the chassis) but on the whole I feel I got a good deal.

These things depreciate so hard but ๐Ÿ˜ to those saying forking out ยฃ1100 was madness. The thrill of buying that first pram is heady and if you can afford to its easy to go a bit mad and basically fail to future proof stuff (ie will the pram convert to a double in the event you have another baby within 36 months)

glueandstick · 04/02/2018 21:09

I hadnโ€™t thought that the issue might be that at ยฃ400 someone could get a whole new (no where near as good.. but new) system. Hopefully youโ€™ll find a buyer who wants a good quality pram rather than new/cheap.

Failing that just have another baby to use it again ;)

GoodMorning1 · 04/02/2018 21:11

I paid ยฃ99 for a second hand Silver cross travel system. Came with everything: pram, car seat, then pram converted into a push chair that can face either way. Also included a raincover.

I'd have paid up to ยฃ150 but no more. As people have said you get no warranty on secondhand.

We did have to replace one set of wheels at one point when they broke and I found someone on EBay who was selling the sane model as parts. I bought wheels, other people bought other bits and pieces. Perhaps a way of getting more money overall?

Nicknacky · 04/02/2018 21:11

TheLegend I bought my brand new icandy for my second child! Can't even blame first time excitement lol!

I new what I didn't like about my first one and what I did like so tailored my purchase from that knowledge. Didn't regret it at all!

pigshavecurlytails · 04/02/2018 21:11

The whole thing including cost us ยฃ1100 including car seat bits.

Shock

but then I just used a maclaren techno for both kids and don't understand why anyone would pay that sort of money on a buggy. facebook group or ebay might be worth a try.

Bigfatchips · 04/02/2018 21:12

Of course you are a mug for paying ยฃ1,100 for a pram, especially if it's worth a third of that second hand.

Wanting brand new for your pfb isn't any kind of reasoned excuse! You are falling for branding and hype so don't expect to make your money back - own it, you are a pram hun and having the best pram means more to you than having money in the bank (collective you, I mean, not OP specifically).

Nicknacky · 04/02/2018 21:13

bigfat Mine wasn't a pfb, does that make my purchase more acceptable to you?

And yep, I still have money in the bank.

Rebeccaslicker · 04/02/2018 21:14

Well yeah. I work to put money in the bank precisely so I can spend it on whatever I like. That's what it's for!

BroccoliOnTheFloor · 04/02/2018 21:14

Check what aimilar condition ones are gling for on eBay so that you can price it right!

Crunchymum · 04/02/2018 21:16

We paid about ยฃ1k for our pram and it's now on DC3. It's been used everyday for over 5 years and will probably sell for a few hundred when we're done.

Does that make me a mug?? Shock

glueandstick · 04/02/2018 21:16

This is bringing out some really horrible comments. Who cares if someone buys something new or not? It almost seems a sport at toddler groups to out cheap people. โ€˜Oh I got it for a fiverโ€™ โ€˜youโ€™re such a posh stupid cow, I paid 50p 10th handโ€™ ๐Ÿ˜’
