Before anyone says it Iโ€™m an absolute idiot for not buying from gumtree in the first place but ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„ I wanted a nice shiny new one!

For first baby we got loaned an ICandy as we thought we were only going to have the one dc.

Then got pregnant with dc2 and HAD to have a new pushchair!

We got an single to double as had two under 2 and eldest child not walking when dc2 came.

As Sodโ€™s law would have it, dc2 hated the buggy and refused to sit in it after 12 months.

The whole thing including cost us ยฃ1100 including car seat bits.

Iโ€™ve been trying to sell it in gumtree for ยฃ400 and not one enquiry apart from one cf who asked if he could borrow it๐Ÿค”

Iโ€™m going to have to give it away for next to nothing, arenโ€™t I?

It's a used pushchair with no warranty. ยฃ400 is wildly optimistic.

Tarraleaha · 04/02/2018 20:21

check the selling price of similar buggies on ebay to get an average. It's pure luck, some sellers sell 2nd hand ones for double or triple the price than others, for similar items. It must depends if someone is desperate for one locally.

Shenanagins · 04/02/2018 20:23

Our single Concorde travel system only sold for around ยฃ150 but it had done two babies so a very fair price. However our double mini city jogger really held its value.

The other thing is that Iโ€™m not sure Icandy are in fashion anymore so that might impact its resell value.

McTufty · 04/02/2018 20:23

Nothing wrong with anyone spending however much they want to and can afford on whatever pram they choose.

RandomMess · 04/02/2018 20:27

I can understand why you are irritated and disappointed.

Hopefully you can sell it via ebay/Facebook

Ninjamilo · 04/02/2018 20:30

My iCandy peach was ยฃ750 - I would never have considered ยฃ400 for a second hand one to be honest.

I'm not fussed about resale value though, I get why people don't want to pay a lot the state some buggies get in to!

LaurenCooper · 04/02/2018 20:32

Do you still have the original receipt? I've seen quite a few Ebay listings with pics of receipts and I think it's a good selling strategy.

MuncheysMummy · 04/02/2018 20:33

What model is it Twinkly? Whether your price is fair or not depends on current averages,I'm a pram a holiday seriously I've had like 20 prams/pushchairs so far in 19 months! I'm on most of the Facebook pram groups and just sold my iCandy Peach 2016 (Butterscotch โค๏ธ) for ยฃ500 and that was only 10 months old and cost me ยฃ1k to buy but that colour is sought after. Prices currently for Peach 1 is around ยฃ75 the Peach 2 around ยฃ120 the Peach 3 around ยฃ200 upto ยฃ350 depending whether a single or double and what it comes with the prices are based on average condition used but no damage or stains etc. For ยฃ400 in needs to be chassis, seat unit, carrycot with raincover and a Peach 3 and in good condition and preferably with extras such as seat liner and footmuff or a double pram.

MuncheysMummy · 04/02/2018 20:34
  • pram a holic not holiday!
Liande · 04/02/2018 20:34

Hiya, I can sympathise - I had a new very good condition ICandy Peach 3 double (two toddler seats, no carrycot) which i struggled to sell. I paid approx ยฃ900 for it from John Lewis and for ages I just kept getting enquiries as to whether I had a carrycot to go with it even though the advert clearly stated several times I didnt..! In the end I sold it in two parts - sold the main buggy as a single for ยฃ450 to a friend who had left it really late in getting a buggy (thank goodness for me!) And then I sold the second seat to a nice lady from a local mums facebook group i'd advertised it on for ยฃ100. Stick with it and post it everywhere...! Use ebay as last resort as they do take a huge fee. I sold my Bugaboo Donkey on there and got a good price luckily but i lost 10% in fees. The problem with facebook groups is that most people want something in really good condition but for a bargain price and haggle you down loads...! Goodluck.

Bigfatchips · 04/02/2018 20:38

You were a mug to pay ยฃ1100 for a pram. Not anyone else's fault.

Twoo · 04/02/2018 20:38

I was so intrigued about what icandy prawns weโ€™re like, I googled. They are rather lovely looking arenโ€™t they.

Rather than sell it, display it proudly in your breakfast room as testament to your baby making years Grin

bobstersmum · 04/02/2018 20:38

I have never gone for these mega expensive prams, but if you can afford it I don't see why you shouldn't buy them.
If you can get a few hundred pounds back after you've done with it I'd consider that ok!

glueandstick · 04/02/2018 20:39

Stop having a go at the OP for buying a new pram. Plenty of people do. Their money, their choice.

I know it doesnโ€™t help, but there is so little interest in 2nd hand prams. 3rd/4th/5th hand yes- but 1-2 is where the real losses are.

Louiselouie0890 · 04/02/2018 20:40

ยฃ400 on a pram with 0 warranty 0 returns policy etc. I'd never spend that much second hand. Not because it's not worth but because it's a lot of money for something with no fallback.

Nicknacky · 04/02/2018 20:41

Why are people saying people are mugs for buying them?! If no one bought them new then there wouldn't be any second hand.

I could afford it, I liked it and I wanted a new icandy. No mug here.

glueandstick · 04/02/2018 20:41

And yes Iโ€™m one of those who spend 1k on a pushchair that didnโ€™t even come with a rain cover or cosy toes. It wasnโ€™t even a travel system. But I love it and grateful for it each time I use it.

PancakeInMaBelly · 04/02/2018 20:41

I bought my prams second hand. One was ยฃ20 the other was ยฃ40.

It doesn't matter what you paid, a used pram is a used pram and your used pram is way over priced.

Twoo · 04/02/2018 20:42

iCandi prams not prawns.

Rebeccaslicker · 04/02/2018 20:42

bigfatchips - why?

Lots of people pay that. We did. We researched loads of them and that was the price of what we wanted. It's easy and comfortable to push (when we use a cheap one on holiday, we really notice the difference), and it's been used almost every single day for 2.5 years so far. By the time DC2 is finished with it, it'll have lasted about 5 years.

What's "muggish" about finding something you like, can afford, enjoy having and use every day for 5 years? Confused

MuncheysMummy · 04/02/2018 20:42

Oh and I currently have a Bugaboo Buffalo true black chassis and petrol blue hood and footmuff and seat liner and I paid ยฃ400 for it second hand as it's immaculate and cost ยฃ1300 18 months ago and that was a fair second hand price.

Maybebabybee · 04/02/2018 20:45

What is the deal with those bloody icandys anyway - they're beasts. Can't even steer them one handed!

Nibblertron · 04/02/2018 20:46

I bought our twin buggy for ยฃ160 and sold it for ยฃ180 two years later. Thatโ€™s how itโ€™s meant to be done. Grin

Tarraleaha · 04/02/2018 20:46

Why are some posters so bitterly jealous and rude? Expensive travel systems are top quality, cheap ones not so much. It depends what you need them for, and how you use them. I had expensive travel systems, worth every penny.

Nothing wrong with reselling baby items. Just because you can afford them doesn't mean you should waste them and chuck them out when you no longer need them.

Nicknacky · 04/02/2018 20:47

maybe My icandy was light as a feather and I could swirl it one handed easily?
