Just watched the clip of Jacob rees mogg at Bristol university, when a few momentum activists try to cause havoc and stop him from talking

Whatever anyone thinks of this man, I have to say he was pretty gutsy going up to them, considering they are all hiding behind Balaclavas and scarves and there wasn't any security there.
Most politicians wouldn't have gone near them, let alone try to talk to them

I like him. Yes his views are controversial and I don't agree with some of them, but at least he stands up for what he believes in

LifeBeginsAtGin · 07/02/2018 07:24

OMG Poo I was going to say the same thing!!

OK, here's mine...

Soundbite cupboard open early today Make

makeourfuture · 07/02/2018 07:58

The stock market turmoil pushed the comms team to a code yellow. Bottom line, in early.

PiffIeandWiffle · 07/02/2018 08:14

That's Labour in a nutshell - death of aspiration.

Yep, totally agree...

Tory in a nutshell:

Give contract to friend's company to audit benefit recipient. Take away their support to meet profit targets. Take profits as bonuses then crash the company. Taxpayer picks up tab.

Call it aspiration.

makeourfuture · 07/02/2018 08:22

Aspire all you want. Don't make the poor pay for it.

makeourfuture · 07/02/2018 08:26

The thing is Rufus, I have a dental appointment at noon and I know damn well they will wander over at about eleven and start in about commitment.

makeourfuture · 07/02/2018 08:30

I hope you are reading this. It's been on the books for three weeks.

makeourfuture · 07/02/2018 08:34

Up yours Simon.

PiffIeandWiffle · 07/02/2018 08:49

Aspire all you want. Don't make the poor pay for it.

If nobody aspires we're all poor & there's no-one paying into the system....

I'm going to have to agree one of make's points here.

The business of handing out contracts to friends should strike fear in any conservative's (small c) heart. It's a dirty business. Mind you, corruption was rife under Labour.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 07/02/2018 09:12

And it was Labour who introduced most of the contracting out, including in the NHS. The Tories have actually done a bit less of it. And the 'friends' thing is a left wing myth. It's a case of look as hard as you can to find the most tenuous link.

If corruption was happening in the way the hard left claim they would have been able to make something stick and they haven't.

'Giving contracts to their Tory mates' is just a slogan.

makeourfuture · 07/02/2018 09:17

And the 'friends' thing is a left wing myth

Private Eye does a good job of tracking this sort of thing.

It's rife.

Justanotherlurker · 07/02/2018 09:30

Private Eye does a good job of tracking this sort of thing.

And as Elton said, they point out that it is across the political spectrum

makeourfuture · 07/02/2018 10:12

And as Elton said, they point out that it is across the political spectrum

Yes but a care worker in Wolverhampton doesn't have the same effect as an Etonboy on a banker's board.

Justanotherlurker · 07/02/2018 10:20

Yes but a care worker in Wolverhampton doesn't have the same effect as an Etonboy on a banker's board.

I see your just out for political point scoring and being selective as usual.

Carry on

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 07/02/2018 11:17

The politicians on the left are also fully immersed in the friends/nepotism thing.

Quite a few pals of & offspring of are engineered internships & opportunities that a care-worker in Wolverhampton can't access - hence the large number of family connections across labour politicians & political jobs.

For the few! Not the many!
Champagne socialists are the biggest of hypocrites.

user1471450935 · 07/02/2018 12:00

Morning faith.
I agree with you.
Too many hypocrites in power on the left. Though there are better ones.
Hope are well

BrownLiverSpot · 07/02/2018 12:31

Ok so the left are all hypocrites... Now that that's settled we can all move on to what the current government have done and what they are proposing to do.

All I'm seeing is an expensive brexit mess, wages not growing with inflation, not enough housing esp social housing being built etc. What are they doing now that they hold the power to improve things? I'm not sure even they know.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 07/02/2018 12:40

wages not growing with inflation, not enough housing esp social housing being built etc

Problems with wage stagnation and housing are never going to be solved until we get a proper handle on migration. But the left go full on ape shit and cry fascist if anything other than open borders is suggested so we're never going to get those problems solved. In fact they would get significantly worse under Labour who would reverse modest reforms the Conservatives have made.

makeourfuture · 07/02/2018 12:52

and cry fascist

Look, if you find your views aligning with those of fascists a lot. You may just be a fascist.

Just saying.

BrownLiverSpot · 07/02/2018 12:58

Elton, I think in the last election the government were promising to cut down immigration significantly and bring in better controls. I would have thought that combined with the brexit vote they would have already taken the chance to push through their policy. You seem to blame those on the left, but perhaps the government is taking the view that their manifesto lost them the majority in the last election?

Eltonjohnssyrup · 07/02/2018 12:59

Look, if you find your views aligning with those of fascists a lot. You may just be a fascist

Well if we're going to start labelling people fascists make, the leader of Haringey council proposed a motion condemning anti-semitism and Momentum protested against it and she was subsequently hounded out of her job. You've whitewashed antisemitism within your party and refuse to deal with it. You're also violently breaking up your political opponents meetings and denying them a free voice plus you've jumped on a fire (which turned out to be caused by something found in both Labour and Conservative council areas) and used it for your own political means.

The far left at the moment are following Hitler's fascist playbook right down to the letter.

You are fascists. Outright fascists. No two ways about it.

Justanotherlurker · 07/02/2018 12:59

Look, if you find your views aligning with those of fascists a lot. You may just be a fascist.

Ah, the old guilt by association, how does it sit that a lot of labour strongholds voted brexit.. Labour is the racist party then I presume going by your logic.
