To think that La La land is awful

Just that. We've put it on Netflix.
I wasn't desperate to see It, but you know, heard good things.
40 mins in and..well, I'm posting about how shit I think it is in here.
Do I need to give it more of a chance, or put Friends on?

I made it about 15 minutes in. Which is longer than I managed with Mama Mia.

Loubymoo27 · 27/01/2018 21:42

The ending is awful. Totally ruined the film for me. Wasn't worth all the hype!!!

TheHobbitMum · 27/01/2018 21:43

OP I agree! I absolutely hated it and turned off after 20mins, I thought I'd love it as I very much enjoy musicals Hmm I'll never watch it again and seem to be in the minority by hating it

Putyourdamnshoeson · 27/01/2018 21:47

It's off.
I lasted 1 hr 1 min.
Friends is on now.
I'm stunned. I thought it would dazzle me.

You did better than me OP
, I managed about 30 mins last week.

I’m baffled because I don’t mind a bit of schmaltz but I was bored by this.

MajesticWhine · 27/01/2018 21:50

I really enjoyed it at the cinema. My friends were a bit nonplussed I think. I wouldn't watch it a second time I don't think.

toriatoriatoria · 27/01/2018 21:51

You managed more of La La Land than I did!

YellowLily · 27/01/2018 21:52

Immediately became one of my all time favourite films. I love it and have seen it about 4 times and I adore the ending. Each to their own though. DP watched it at the cinema the first time and someone walked out at the planetarium scene. BlushGrin

TheRebel · 27/01/2018 21:52

I didn’t even get through the first song, and I have watched some crap in my time!

maddiemookins16mum · 27/01/2018 21:54

I liked it, but didn't love it (and really wanted to). The Greatest Showman is far better.

lottiegarbanzo · 27/01/2018 21:55

I thought it was ok, nothing more. The opening scene was really good.

I liked that they are both dedicated to their art - and, despite otherwise being a bit of an arse (pushing her the first time they met ffs) - he did the right thing with regard to her art.

maddiemookins16mum · 27/01/2018 21:55

Oh and the ending was shite, ruined it for me.

wheeltrims · 27/01/2018 21:56

I watched it last week and cringed my way through the first thirty mins but as soon as the love story kicks off it lifted it for me and I really enjoyed it, spent the last thirty minutes blubbing pathetically (may have been pre menstrual). I generally just switch off films that don't start well but was genuinely glad I stuck with this one.

arethereanyleftatall · 27/01/2018 21:57

Loved it. Such a happy film (most of it).

Awww, your heart is a teeny tiny chip of ice.

Watched it at a friend's house. Nodded off halfway through. Only just salvaged the friendship!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT especially the music. Often listen to the soundtrack on Spotify.

AntArcticFox · 27/01/2018 22:02

I saw the " iconic " scene on YouTube last week and was shocked at how underwhelmed I was.

Just watch Fred and Ginger clips op.

Kitsandkids · 27/01/2018 22:02

I watched to the end. Don't get it. Don't like the ending. Don't get the hype. And I love all sorts of films!

bobthebuddha · 27/01/2018 22:03

Lasted 15 minutes, tops. Worst film since Moulin Rouge, which made me want to chew my own hand off.

They're two of the most slappable people on the planet.

RedialCallHold · 27/01/2018 22:03

It's a truly awful film. It's a musical....of course the actors should be able to sing! God was it shite.
