AIBU Trollhunting is ruining AIBU

I understand troll hunting if the OP is giving dangerous advice. However, increasingly every single poster is being grilled by troll hunters about every aspect of their post. It makes a thread hard to follow and really boring to read.

I don't understand why the troll hunters do it, there is an easy to use report button. I have read several threads in the last week where the OP was subjected to constant snide comments about the veracity of their post. I think if these troll hunters persist then people won't want to post at all.

I would also like to know more about the hamster casserole, we had one of the little buggers years ago

A hamster that is,, not a hamster casserole

Greensleeves · 31/01/2018 16:38

Fab, thank you Greensleeves, I'll get reading... Grin

Bigfatchips · 31/01/2018 16:41

I name change all the time now, daily, weekly, whenever I remember because I don't want to be picked apart on reddit.

Someone said earlier in the thread why would you read trolls on reddit if you don't like it to which my reply is: same reason lots of people who insist they hate mn are on here scouring the boards and wasting their time on a place they find ridiculous and pathetic.

Maryz · 31/01/2018 16:43

Does anyone see the irony of posters setting themselves up as MNtrollhunters elsewhere and then coming back repeatedly to troll MN (and boast about their trolling).

ShastaTrinity · 31/01/2018 16:46

I think the reddit trolls can be quite entertaining, they make the DM comments look twee in comparison

Caprinihahahaha · 31/01/2018 16:49

You can never go wrong blaming Hully to be fair

Talking about hamster casserole, that reminds me of what happened when my DDis went to stay at her then fiancé's house, and met his DS for the first time. She brought her Labrador Retriever with her. Unfortunately the dog ate the DS's hamster.

Thankfully he forgave the dog and his new stepmum. When the dog was put to sleep years later, he was devastated.

My DSis and her DH recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary. But that was a very rocky start indeed. Grin

We need a support thread for people with hamsters

Who from Reddit has been actually trolling over here? Please tell, you must have some super insider information!

Coconutspongexo · 31/01/2018 16:59

Also want to know who is trolling here.

I think it’s ironic there’s constant posts of pepiple hunting troll hunters

Coconutspongexo · 31/01/2018 16:59

Ah, people who need to get lives then, on both sides. Though if you think the people on Reddit hate MN, you’re quite wrong. The clue is in the title, no hate for MN, just hate trolls, goady fuckers, piss perverts and beggars. Sadly there just seems to be more and more of them these days. If the posters on Reddit hate all of MN, the whole forum would be subject to ridicule (as it is on other platforms).

Greensleeves · 31/01/2018 17:03

I've looked at that MNTrolls thing. It's as dull as fuck. There's about 4 people on it.

C8H10N4O2 · 31/01/2018 17:06

Again, I am not 'Pandy'

Its probably just the unfortunate coincidence that your styles looked very similar and Pandorasxbox's name disappeared shortly before your current incarnation appeared with no overlap.

Most groups of any size don't do NC because it causes more problems than it solves ata scale. A flag to denote a history is probably the only way around it if its deemed essential.

NC also carries a faux reassurance of a level of safety which simply doesn't exist. That alone is a good reason not to have it and the one which bothers me.
NCing to have a bitch or a goad rather than to something comedic for a joke is just a example of why its a problem at scale.

Yes that is something that puzzles me too.

There's about 4 people on it.

To be honest there’s only truly about that amount of people on MN forums. Half are trolls and the other is a sock puppet talking to itself.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 31/01/2018 17:12

Well, Greensleeeves, you're a bit of a minx, aren't you?

The hamster one I nearly fell for myself even though I knew it was a wind-up. I can't see that sort of thread working here now though, sorry. There are lots of animal lovers who would be very distraught at the thought of a breast-stroking hamster, dodging carrot and goodness knows what other obstacles, before meeting their sticky end as a meaty jus.

The cake one - I actually remember. I clicked on it, thought "That's what my husband would do and I wouldn't dare stand in the way of him and a crumb of cake", so I must have pondered for a second and backspaced out. The thread though has a hell of a lot of deletions so it's not quite as light and sweet as it was intended.

Know your audience, woman! Grin

You're still not one of the posters that I despise. I expect that messy house OP is skulking around somewhere. Her I do dislike, she's a louse.

SumThucker · 31/01/2018 17:18

Have the 'boasting trolls' been unmasked yet?
