A mystery I would like to solve: What the heck was up with this New York Times story, published just 8 days before the election??
Investigating Donald Trump, F.B.I. Sees No Clear Link to Russia

sorry, @deanbaquet won't acknowledge
and yeah, NYT fired its public editor
and yes, she was fired after sharply criticizing NYT's Russia coverage during campaign
i wrote abt her critique here, almost exactly one year ago. so yeah, NYT editors have mum for long time on this;
www.mediamatters.org/blog/2017/01/23/ny-times-remains-embroiled-controversy-over-its-2016-coverage-russia-and-trump/215083
and guess what, she hit the NYT for sitting on the Russia dossier, which they had during the campaign and while they were writing story that there was not connection between Trump and Russia
mind-boggling stuff
i honestly forgot how completely fuked up this all was....the NYT confirmed the dossier during the campaign and refused to publish any of it.
What had the Times known for months? Spayd spells out that Times reporters knew about the dossier, they interviewed its author, knew he was a legitimate former intelligence officer, and could find no “significant red flags” while trying to fact-check the dossier. Despite all that, the Times sat on the dossier story.
they confirmed the dossier and then, 8 days before election, wrote a story abt how there was no connection between FBI and Trump
and you wonder why NYT editors no longer want to answer to a public editor?
this was ALL done bc nyt didn't think Trump would win
