To be really suspicious of a MyHermes delivery?

ObiJuanKenobi · 25/01/2018 13:53

I was expecting a parcel today - kids bedding so nothing expensive.
I got an email saying Hermes would deliver it between 11&1 today and it requires a signature, great I'm home all day so not an issue.

I've not had a delivery, I've been here all day and not a single knock but have received an email saying it's been delivered to my porch (I don't have a porch) AND been signed for my customer (me).

They are saying it's been marked as delivered so must be somewhere around where a porch might be Hmm
Surely if I had signed for it as they claim, they wouldn't have had to leave it in a safe place? I would have signed it and taken it!

They can't get hold of the driver so said they'll get back to me but I'm not holding my breath!
AIBU to think this is really really shit and the driver has probably signed for it himself and left it on the street somewhere?

Don't even bother engaging with my Hermes or they are shocking contact the company you ordered it from that has always worked for me

Jonsnowsghost · 25/01/2018 13:55

I had this the other week, I was at work so not in to collect but had an email saying it had been received by me and been signed for by me...it was left under the doormat outside the front door Hmm I live in a block of flats but the front doors are accessible to everyone (there's no "front" door it's just all open) luckily it was there when I got home!

MyDcAreMarvel · 25/01/2018 13:56

It will be in your recycling bin.

ObiJuanKenobi · 25/01/2018 13:58

It's not in any of my bins or over my fence I've looked everywhere!! I'll email the company I purchased from then, thanks for that tip.

Why do companies use these delivery firms that have such awful customer service!? Must be money..

I had this with a Boden delivery once. It turned out that it was in my blue bin. They hadn't even bothered to ring the doorbell. Utter cowboys

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 25/01/2018 14:00

Cheap, that’s why everybody puts up with bad service.

iloveredwine · 25/01/2018 14:00

I had this. it was with a neighbour. I only found out as they dropped it over to me as there was no card or anything

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 25/01/2018 14:01

Oh Good God. Sorry OP, but if it's Hermes it could be anywhere or turn up at any time (or never at all). They are the absolute worst of any delivery company. We've had drivers claiming to attempt delivery at 11pm on a Sunday night which is clearly bollox as I work in a business park which isn't even open on a Sunday. Don't bother trying to speak to anyone, just cross your fingers and hope for the best! Good luck!

Alloftheboys · 25/01/2018 14:04

Had the Xmas wine delivery (2 heavy cardboard boxes) left outside the front door in full view of the road. Was obvious what it was as the company name was all over the boxes!

A previous year they left the cardboard box on the drive near the bins after it had rained. OH picked up the box, carried it inside and the bottom gave way smashing 2 bottles on the hall floor.

Also had deliveries where they posted a card through the door while I was in without ringing the doorbell.

ObiJuanKenobi · 25/01/2018 14:04

Fuck sake! I usually try and click&collect my online shopping but I have a few days off work so thought this would be less hassle Hmm

It really depends on the local agent. My local MyHermes guy is great, as is the Yodel woman. The local dpd person is piss poor and the guys that deliver for amazon are also rubbish in my area. Lost track of the parcels they've left in the pissing rain.

JJPP123 · 25/01/2018 14:14

MyHermes claimed to have posted a kingsize duvet through my letterbox. Their customer services are abysmal. Go direct to who you ordered from.

boydoggies · 25/01/2018 14:22

I have a fabulous Hermes delivery man. Yodel on the other hand....

tictoc76 · 25/01/2018 14:22

I had this with Amazon. What actually happened was the guy was late on his time slot and rather than ringing the bell and being obviously late he recorded it as delivered and then later left it under the car wheel. I didn’t notice it was there and complained and got a replacement sent free of charge. The next day I noticed it under car wheel!

MichaelBendfaster · 25/01/2018 14:24

TBF this has happened to me with Royal cunting Mail, so it's not just Hermes who are shite.

I agree with this and the same with our postie, I can tell when the regulars are off. Packages left in weird and wonderful places, no knock on the door etc.

(I work form home a lot so several neighbors & friends have me as their alternate address)

Marylou2 · 25/01/2018 14:28

I had this 2 weeks ago with a White Company order. Hermes said they had left in in my garage. They definitely hadn’t as it was locked. I did the online chat with them as you can’t seem to call them any other way. They said they’d investigate it. The next day a driver appeared with my parcel. I know they have a dreadful reputation but I’ve never had any previous problems and I order a lot of stuff from Bowden via Hermes.

BashStreetKid · 25/01/2018 14:29

I'm on Day 4 of trying to get a Hermes delivery. I've given them a wide range of times when they can deliver, yet they claim to have delivered it early in the morning which is, surprise surprise, one of the times when I've told them there will be no-one available to take the parcel. It's also ridiculously difficult to get through to them by phone.

JJPP123 · 25/01/2018 14:29

My yodel man is lovely as is my dpd lady

RedWineAllMine · 25/01/2018 14:31

Terrible, terrible company for deliveries. If I ever want to order something and see that Hermes is the carrier, it puts me off instantly and I don't buy it. I recently had a similar issue with a friend. She had emails saying it had been signed for & delivered, but it hadn't. It miraculously turned up with the courier 2 days later. He said there was confusion as to where it was getting delivered to. But why say it was signed for/delivered if if wasn't? Hmm

Tiddlywinks63 · 25/01/2018 14:32

Received an email early this morning saying my parcel had been delivered. God knows where it is because I can't find it, no card through the door and I can't contact a seller because I have no idea which one uses Hermes (and can't see on websites).
Totally confused.

I had this exact thing. Turned out they thought my next door neighbour's was the back of my house, or some sort of giant rear porch or annex Confused

Have you knocked at your neighbours'?

RedWineAllMine · 25/01/2018 14:35

She emailed the company she purchased the product from, not Hermes. Then it arrived, don't bother contacting Hermes. Go through the company who you bought the product from. They will be lots more helpful.

listsandbudgets · 25/01/2018 14:39

They once claimed to have delivered a parcel to my mother's conservatory (she does not have a conservatory)

Then they said that 40 minutes AFTER they delivered it she turned it away at the door because it was damaged!

The parcel never did turn up - useless company
