To be really suspicious of a MyHermes delivery?

ObiJuanKenobi · 25/01/2018 13:53

I was expecting a parcel today - kids bedding so nothing expensive.
I got an email saying Hermes would deliver it between 11&1 today and it requires a signature, great I'm home all day so not an issue.

I've not had a delivery, I've been here all day and not a single knock but have received an email saying it's been delivered to my porch (I don't have a porch) AND been signed for my customer (me).

They are saying it's been marked as delivered so must be somewhere around where a porch might be Hmm
Surely if I had signed for it as they claim, they wouldn't have had to leave it in a safe place? I would have signed it and taken it!

They can't get hold of the driver so said they'll get back to me but I'm not holding my breath!
AIBU to think this is really really shit and the driver has probably signed for it himself and left it on the street somewhere?

@Obi, I'm not 100% sure as DH was dealing with it (his parcel). The company we ordered from sent out a replacement and Lodged a complaint with Hermes I think.

womaninatightspot · 26/01/2018 16:23

Hate myhermes; try not to shop with places that use them and would rather pay extra for delivery. Gap for example, even when you pay for the two day service they still use them so I gave up shopping with them. I spent £170 in verdbaudet thinking they'd use a different courier as it was a lot of chunky stuff plus bookshelves but they still sent it via myhermes and three weeks later are refunding me due to failure to deliver. I get they are cheap but surely there must be a balance between that and lost sales?

XmasInTintagel · 26/01/2018 16:31

A friend of mine was told he was out when another courier tried to deliver (he'd stayed in all day especially..). He said no delivery was attempted, and they insisted the driver had taken a pic of his front door as proof they'd been. He asked what colour the door was...and they said a completely different colour than his door!
They did redeliver the same day, but if it weren't for the photo, they wouldn't have believed him and would have made him pick it up from a depot.
I think they all have good and bad drivers to be fair, I can't fault them where I live :-).

XmasInTintagel · 26/01/2018 16:35

Last Xmas some of my parcels were left outside the back door of a house 3 doors away, with no note of card through my letterbox. They were away for 3 days, and it was all in cardboard boxes, so by the time they found it and told me, it was all soaking wet. Company I ordered from were not remotely interested in feedback, so lost my business.
I still wonder about the logic of leaving stuff unsigned for, behind a different house then the delivery address!

Jessie06 · 26/01/2018 16:42

I also had a lot of hassle with Hermes a few years ago, they lost 2 Dyson Hoovers, luckily the company I ordered from re-sent out and I got it third time lucky. Still don't know what happened to the first 2!

Tiddlywinks63 · 26/01/2018 17:11

DD was sent a photo of her front door saying parcel delivered; unfortunately it wasn't her front door but one 73 miles away. Totally different address.
Bloody MyHermes then tried to argue it was her front door. Eventually she got her money refunded.

Chrys2017 · 26/01/2018 17:16

I haven't had this problem with Hermes but I had a very frustrating and similar experience with Yodel. Kept getting emails telling me deliveries had been attempted when I had been in all day! Eventually after two weeks they admitted they had lost the parcel and I had a refund from the seller. I will not purchase from any shop again that uses this company for deliveries.

Rumbaintheraindrops · 26/01/2018 17:22

We used to have an really good hermes guy but now the man who has taken over from him is awful. The last time I ordered something he pushed a note through to say it was the last delivery attempt dispite not having any cards pushed through previously. I rang him ten minutes after the time on the card (just got home) to say he had already sent it back to the depot, when I asked when his first and second attempt was he gave the day I ordered it!!!!! When I said this he said he doesn't speak good English (Eastern European) and put the phone down.
I don't order from anywhere now that use hermes

m0therofdragons · 26/01/2018 17:22

They messaged me this week telling me my parcel was in my shed - I don't have a shed but there is a play house. This means they came into my garden through the side gate and walked around 3 sides of my house to the furthest point of the garden. I can't put my finger on it but I feel really uncomfortable about the level of garden exploration.

RingARingOfRosies · 26/01/2018 17:24

@ObiJuanKenobi is there another street/apartment block etc near you with a similar name?

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago with another courier. I got an email saying something couldn't be delivered because I wasn't in, although at the supposed time delivery was attempted, I was home & actually outside the front of the house so I knew they hadn't come! The same thing happened the next day only they said it would be returned to the sender etc. I called to say that I had been in during both "attempts" & there was no way delivery had been attempted. The helpline centre called the driver. Turns out he'd gone to a similar sounding road & attempted delivery twice. Similar but not similar enough for this to be an acceptable mistake to have been made twice. (Along the lines of one is XY Meadows, and one is XY Grove). Hmm Could someone with a similar sounding street at the same house number have signed for your package?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 26/01/2018 17:41

I would suggest someone tweet the thread to Hermes, but I'm not entirely certain they care.

Anothergoodday · 26/01/2018 17:54

I had an email saying my Hermes parcel has been delivered and signed for. I called the company I bought goods from to tell them I hadn’t received anything. Turned out the delivery person had a specific time slot they had to deliver by in order to get paid and they had signed for it themselves and were planning to deliver the next day. Delivery person had a go at me for getting them into trouble!

Homemadeapplepie · 26/01/2018 18:31

Same experience here with Hermes-someone in the house all day, courier didn’t knock but pushed a card through stating the parcel had been left in the “secure porch”, we have no porch, the parcel was on the front door step. At least it was easy for us to find!

ObiJuanKenobi · 26/01/2018 18:41

I'm starting to think our 'porch' may be our door stop then and it's been pinched. Our road only has a few houses on but links to a footpath leading to a large business park so we get a lot of people walking through daily.

There aren't any similar sounding roads around here I'm afraid.

I've not heard anything back from the courier or the company I ordered through who are 'looking into it'.

I've learnt my lesson and won't be shopping with anyone who advertise the fact they use hermes for delivery Angry

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 26/01/2018 20:17

I do wonder if porch is code the nearest bus shelter and ‘we tried to deliver’ actually means ‘we were in the town down the road from you’.

But I might be wrong.

ObiJuanKenobi · 30/01/2018 17:47

Thank you all again for your help on this. I've finally heard back from Hermes (attached) but the store I ordered from are saying that Hermes confirmed to them it has been delivered Hmm

Attach that screen shot in an email to the place you have ordered from! I think the only way to get Hermes and the othe delivery services to get better is if the retailers get fed up of having to refund everyone!

MichaelBendfaster · 30/01/2018 17:58

Send the screen shot to where you ordered it from and ask them to figure out how both things can be true.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 30/01/2018 18:02

I'm not sure what they are saying.

haven't they been unsuccessful in locating the parcel or in locating the
courrier and the parcel.

It's quite unclear from what they've written.

ObiJuanKenobi · 30/01/2018 18:03

I've sent them the screenshot (without the blocked out names) and asked for a full refund.

Will the company charge Hermes for the costs? From what I've heard I think their drivers get treated pretty abysmally so I don't want someone to get sacked over kids bedding!

I had this argie bargy with LaRedoute in the run up to Christmas. Email said it had been delivered but it hadn't. They eventually refunded the cost. MyHermes are tragic and I have told LaRedoute that I won't use them while they use MyHermes.

BashStreetKid · 30/01/2018 18:11

I'm on Day 4 of trying to get a Hermes delivery.

Now Day 9. Several messages left, absolutely no response and no package. I've emailed the people who sent the parcel and they haven't replied either. I'm getting severely pissed off.

ObiJuanKenobi · 30/01/2018 18:17

@BashStreetKid I only got a response from Hermes using the online chat thing, they promised a report within 28 hours which only came this evening!! I told them I'd report them for fraud if they couldn't explain why it's been marked as signed for by me yet put in a safe place because I wasn't home.

I bought something from Ted Baker once, it was delivered, signed for but not to my door. The delivery company confirmed it was delivered and if it was not for the lovely woman who lived in the same village to chap on my door and bring it to me i probably wouldnt have been refunded. They delivered to her which was a good 10 min walk from my house and nothing like my address.

kaytee87 · 30/01/2018 18:27

Hermes delivered my next door neighbours fresh flowers to the side of my front door one day (no card through either their or my door) and I didn't speak to any delivery drivers saying that I'd take a neighbours delivery.
We use our side door most of the time so the flowers were outside overnight in Scottish stormy weather, totally ruined by the time they were noticed.
They're shit.
