To be really suspicious of a MyHermes delivery?

I was expecting a parcel today - kids bedding so nothing expensive.
I got an email saying Hermes would deliver it between 11&1 today and it requires a signature, great I'm home all day so not an issue.

I've not had a delivery, I've been here all day and not a single knock but have received an email saying it's been delivered to my porch (I don't have a porch) AND been signed for my customer (me).

They are saying it's been marked as delivered so must be somewhere around where a porch might be Hmm
Surely if I had signed for it as they claim, they wouldn't have had to leave it in a safe place? I would have signed it and taken it!

They can't get hold of the driver so said they'll get back to me but I'm not holding my breath!
AIBU to think this is really really shit and the driver has probably signed for it himself and left it on the street somewhere?

Hermes are terrible. I won't order anything from companies that use Hermes.

I was unable to get my parcel from them. They suggested leaving my parcel with a neighbour, I said yes - they didn't do it. Then they suggested leaving it in my shed, I said yes - they didn't do it. I spent a lot of time trying going round in circles on their web chat (they don't have a phone line). In the end they told me they wouldn't be able to deliver my parcel to me. They are completely useless. I think they want to keep parcels.

Queeniebed · 25/01/2018 14:40

Im forever catching these delivery men out in a lie - in for collection but they delivered it to Mrs X down the road who is actually Mrs Y and has not had the parcel. Refund please

Aki23 · 25/01/2018 14:41

I once had a parcel delivered to my 'porch' - I have a step open to the road and no parcel there

Sarahh2014 · 25/01/2018 14:42

I had this recently, apparently if haven't got time to deliver they mark it as delivered then its delivered the next day .not very good

longta · 25/01/2018 14:45

I don't understand why so many delivery guys tap quietly with their knuckles, when there's a perfectly good doorbell beside the door, or even a letterbox to rattle. There must be an advantage for them to do this, but what can it be?

Chowmum · 25/01/2018 14:46

I've actually had Hermes leave a parcel in the BLACK bin. Seriously. Why, when there's a perfectly good green bin right there?

NameChanger22 · 25/01/2018 14:46

The advantage is they get to keep the parcels if they don't deliver them.

Annonymiss123 · 25/01/2018 14:46

it's been delivered to my porch (I don't have a porch) AND been signed for my customer (me)

had an email saying it had been received by me and been signed for by me...it was left under the doormat outside the front door

Why would they leave it in a porch / under a mat if the customer was there to sign for it?! Hmm

Hope you get sorted without too much hassle OP.

Bumbumtaloo · 25/01/2018 14:47

We have had nothing but shit with myhermes deliveries. Twice the driver actually walked into my house - yes, our front door is normally locked but DH was doing the school run and left the door on the latch so he didn’t have to take keys. The school is literally across the road from our house. I complained after the first time and was assured it would never happen again, obviously it did. I now try and avoid using anyone who uses them but it doesn’t always work. They never get us to sign for anything but apparently someone has always signed.

Halfdrankbrew · 25/01/2018 15:07

They put my husband's delivery in the bin last week!! I couldn't read the writing on the delivery note and my husband was away, it was only the next day I found it in the bloody bin! Good job it wasn't bin day. I wanted to complain, but typical bloke, he said no.

extinctspecies · 25/01/2018 15:09

Amazon are just as bad.

Claimed to have delivered directly and handed to recipient at a time when I was at home, and knew it wasn't.

Parcel turned up the next day having been left on a neighbour's doorstep. They were away for the night & it got very soggy.

whiskyowl · 25/01/2018 15:11

Sometimes they take a picture to prove delivery - if you ask to see this you can work out where the hell they left it. My guess is the wrong house!

I once had a parcel left at an identically named road in another town!

Charlotte987 · 25/01/2018 15:11

I've had repeated issues with Hermes and now refuse to shop with companies who use them as courier. I think Hermes are the worst delivery company. Definitely dodgy.

witchhazelblue · 25/01/2018 15:12

I've had rude messages left by our local Hermes guy as he only attempts delivery during the working day when I'm out and won't leave parcels with my elderly neighbour who is always there (and happy to take them). Usually Hermes parcels end up going back after his 2 attempts. The only successful Hermes parcel I've had here was one he left in the recycling box that was half full of water - the parcel was soaked through when I got home but luckily the contents were undamaged despite being wet.

Unfortunately with a lot of companies you don't know who the delivery company is until after you've ordered and by then it's too late!

ViceAdmiralAmilynHoldo · 25/01/2018 15:19

What is this new thing about not ringing the doorbell? It's madness.

A plea to all delivery companies RING THE FUCKING DOORBELL. At least twice.

ObiJuanKenobi · 25/01/2018 15:23

I'm (sort of) glad I'm not the only one it's happened to but it's bloody annoying. Definitely not with my neighbours I've spoken with both who are home during the day. One said they had a Hermes parcel left behind the tyre of their car once Shock so I've checked mine incase I run it over but nothing there. They couldn't explain why it's been marked as signed for but also left in a safe space because I wasn't here they said it must be an error with the system Hmm

I've had this too - searched everywhere and couldn't find it. Contacted the seller direct, who said they would send another. Had to contact them again later same evening & tell them not to bother - man from next road, same house number, had found it lobbed over his gate. Hmm
They must lose so much stuff

DontLetMeBeMisunderstood · 25/01/2018 15:45

Argh, they’re hopeless. My last delivery myhermes sent me an email saying ‘sorry they’d missed me for delivery’ and would try again - except I’d ordered click and collect so it was meant to be delivered to my local supermarket (definitely open!). It said on myhermes website that it was being sent to a local courier all weekend, then on Monday they changed it to show it had been at their depot all weekend. The company is purchased from were equally hopeless. I just sent the purchase straight back, not interested in dealing with people like this.

Piffle11 · 25/01/2018 15:54

I think I must be in the minority as my Hermes courier is fantastic. However, over Christmas I ordered a large item from John Lewis. Got the email from Hermes stating when it was going to be delivered (timed slot) and ... nothing. Ended up getting another a couple of days later and ... nothing. Checked on the website and yes, item delivered and signed for. I ended up contacting John Lewis, who were brilliant and said they would chase it up. Eventually item turned up a few days later with a note on it stating something about the item being too large for the original courier: my guy delivers in his car, this was a large box that came in a van. So for some reason Hermes just kept putting scheduled delivery dates on their website and 2 'item delivered' notices even when I hadn't received it. All because the bloody box was too big to go in the usual courier's vehicle.

MichaelBendfaster · 25/01/2018 15:55

TBF my usual Hermes delivery guys are both really sweet. I realise I'm lucky and unusual though!

SwarmOfCats · 25/01/2018 17:17

Our local MyHermes guy is irritating. He simultaneously rings the bell and hammers on the door, but is still always halfway back up the path even if I’m right there and open the door instantly. Then he does a slow ‘looking me up and down’ thing that makes me so uncomfortable I make my boyfriend open the door to him now if he’s round.

I ordered a gift at the beginning of December. Tracking said it was with the courier three days later. I ended up contacting the company after Christmas as it hadn’t turned up, so they refunded me. Hermes delivered it last week.

Alloftheboys · 26/01/2018 11:20

Come back from school run and shopping to find a card from Hermes saying "over fence".
Parcel in back garden and must have been launched to get where it was.
Not sure what it is as OH ordered it (think it might be a valentines present so not opening it). Hope it's not broken.

PiffleandWiffle · 26/01/2018 11:25

I've never had a problem with any of the courier services - Royal Fecking Mail though!!

Nearly killed myself leaving the house once 'cos there was a 2 foot box "hidden" under my doormat!!

And don't get me started on the "you were out so please come to the sorting office on the 3rd harvest moon wearing 1 welly and a tiara" notes....

InsomniacAnonymous · 26/01/2018 11:32

"Nearly killed myself leaving the house once 'cos there was a 2 foot box "hidden" under my doormat!!"

Sorry, I know I shouldn't laugh, but ...... Grin

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 26/01/2018 11:32

piffle that just really made me laugh. Loving the image of people queuing with one welly and a tiara. Do you get turned away if it's actually a coronet? Grin
