Ditto. I thought it was bad enough trying to decipher peoples' facial expressions; now I find I'm even getting emojis wrong too (insert whatever emoji you think expresses a combination of frustrated, disappointed and resigned to another social fuck-up)

🤷♀ is the one that I hate. Wtf does it mean other than "don't ask me, I'm just a stupid woman"? And yet it seems so popular on here..

@blatblatblat sometimes I’d use that to mean “not a clue!” But most of the time it’s a “but what the fuck do I know” kind of thing!

I prefer 🙂 for a smile rather than ☺️😊😌 or whatever

I thought it was sweet smile but not with an embarrassing kiss

I'm surprised they haven't pulled me up if they think it means smug?

And medicinal I use that one as sort of a grimace as well

🙂 is definitely passive aggressive. It’s the emoji equivalent of “I said I’m fine.”

I really don't like the official emojis, especially the faces (flowers and hearts are OK).

The mumsnet emojis (and some on other forums) actually give off a sense of an emotion. Happy looks happy, angry looks angry, sad looks sad etc. But the phone emojis are weirdly emotion-less and don't make me feel anything IYSWIM. I really can't relate to them and I can never find one that really expresses what I want, so in texts I end up just doing the ones made up of characters.

like a proud smile i would say. as another op said, if someone thanks you. like an "im embarassed, gee thanks" kind of smile.

I often want to use or in texts but phone emojis just aren't as expressive as mn ones.

I get very annoyed that the MN isn't available on my phone sometimes - there are points when it would be very useful...

I don't think the one you've posted next to it is equivalent, Beyond. The MN one looks disbelieving, skeptical and sarcastic whereas the phone one looks a bit sad and dejected.

Yes the sceptical emoji is my most favourite one - so, so useful -and many many times I want to use it outside of MN and I can’t!

🤯 always looks like it’s wearing a shower cap to me. And is fairly distraught about it. Maybe it’s been interrupted in the shower and then through a series of unfortunate events has been locked out of the house.

It took me ages to see that it is actually ‘mind blown’...

Emojis pip MN smileys by having 🤢 so you don’t have to use (not envy). But MN doesn’t have 🧐 high I love but don’t use as much as I’d like, as I am rarely confused AND posh.

Can someone tell me how to do the new emojis on a keyboard, not a phone?

I prefer the MN emojis in general though. I was fecking delighted when appeared in Whatsapp!
