As above (at the risk of sounding tin foil hat) and if we're not, what the hell is going on in the world, what's causing it?

OP posts:
lostinblankers · 22/01/2018 07:44

Op, I get that a lot of things are confusing and upsetting for you. But please take a breath.
As I said before, I'm a bit of a prepper. The biggest risk to you is seeing conspiracies at every turn. It affects mental health and the ability to think straight. It also affects ability to deal with actual problems that everyone comes up against and not fantasy deep state mind control stuff.

Sostenueto · 22/01/2018 07:53

Well I suggest you stop listening to the news for a bit and give yourself a break from all scaremongering and enjoy every minute you have with your family and friends, live your life to the full, and just chill! Everything that's happening is s change in political thinking by the masses worldwide, the big powers itching to test out their new toys, and an awful lot of fake news! No good worrying about nuclear war or germ warfare or covert experiments etc etc. We will all die one day. So just enjoy LIFE. After all that huge asteroid us coming.........Grin

k2p2k2tog · 22/01/2018 07:55

chemtrails, tap water a bit risky, etc

Step away from the David Icke forums.

CoteDAzur · 22/01/2018 07:55

"Also the world's population is already too large and unsustainable in terms of resources. What will happen in 20 years when AI has taken the jobs of many workers?"

What keeps people occupied, boosts economy, AND shrinks population?

War.

Falmer · 22/01/2018 07:55

Cote, it may be nonsense to you but I think a lot of people are thinking like me nowadays. When I first mentioned this a few years ago to dd and her uni pals, they all said I was crazy (in a nice waySmile) but now some of them are also questioning things. Besides, it doesn't hurt to question or we really would be the sheeple that the conspiracists say we are.

War.

Apparently, it's good for absolutely nothing.

k2p2k2tog · 22/01/2018 08:02

it doesn't hurt to question

Indeed. But don't keep your mind so open that your brain falls out.

InfiniteSheldon · 22/01/2018 08:05

OP you are cherry picking conspiracy theories to feed your anxietues. It's natural to wonder and sorry what sort of a world our dc are growing up in. It's natural to have fears and concerns but you need to temper these either by conversing , and listening to others with an open mind AND with your idiot radar switched on, or with some counselling. Voting for Labour btw won't cure all the world's iills some of the replies you've received are ludicrous.

lostinblankers · 22/01/2018 08:05

There's questioning and there's falling for conspiracy theories that would make a great movie. In my job, I get access to all sorts of "secrets". You would be surprised at how much of the world is due to people being a bit rubbish. Rather than being an omnipresent mind controller.

Lweji · 22/01/2018 08:07

It's why Trump is being given such a hard time as he tries to establish closer ties and communication with the likes of Putin and Kim Jong Un to bring back peace.

Have you been sequestered all this time?
Do Trump's tweets read like someone who wants to keep any peace with anyone?

I call bot. Nobody in real life can be this deluded.

makeourfuture · 22/01/2018 08:09

What keeps people occupied, boosts economy, AND shrinks population?

Educating and Empowering females. It works every time.

And it is cheaper than war.

whooptifeckindo · 22/01/2018 08:10

Fox News? That woman who slept with the stbx head of UKIP?
Don't be fooled by silliness, op.

CoteDAzur · 22/01/2018 08:13

"Cote, it may be nonsense to you but I think a lot of people are thinking like me nowadays."

There have always been people who lack the minimum knowledge required to tell information from nonsense.

If you are interested, research the answers of the questions in your head from credible sources (and not FB links and braindead conspiracy websites you read about chemtrails from).

By the way, "others agree with me" is a logical fallacy called Appeal To Popularity. It's worth nothing at all that other people with insufficient knowledge are confused about the same things as you.

CoteDAzur · 22/01/2018 08:14

"Educating and Empowering females. It works every time."

Not every time, sadly. See OP.

whooptifeckindo · 22/01/2018 08:16

Cote has it.Grin

whooptifeckindo · 22/01/2018 08:17

Being at uni doesn't make you a critical thinker.

Elendon · 22/01/2018 08:17

I suppose there is some concern given the rise of Trump, who has always had political aspirations and Brexit, which was always a thorny issue, but this essay is worth a read:

A SEN statement is a legal document and parents make a contribution to it.

I really enjoyed the clear blue skies over the UK when air travel was suspended post the Icelandic eruption.

What I did find spooky and apocalyptic was the red sun recently - scary stuff.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 22/01/2018 08:18

If THE NHS made mistakes, then you should vote for the party that will fund it
did you vote at the last three elections ?

That would be the Tories then? Increased funding by £2m per year in real terms.

To question whether we are actually in the midst of a New World Order?

Eltonjohnssyrup · 22/01/2018 08:19

Being at uni doesn't make you a critical thinker.

It probably makes it less likely IMO. University students are massive sheep.

Elendon · 22/01/2018 08:22

Oh and I sometimes find that my drinking water smells of chlorine though my children can't smell it. However talking to a friend, she said the same thing so I wasn't imagining it. The water board does sometimes add chlorine if the bacteria rises but in non harmful measures.

I remember people started using bottled water in the 80s and 90s because they believed, probably wrongly that the drinking water was contaminated. No wonder we have a plastic problem now.

makeourfuture · 22/01/2018 08:25

That would be the Tories then

That is the trend you see in that chart?

ragged · 22/01/2018 08:25

Gosh, not so lovely dismissal of human race there.

Sure we have a new world order going on.
There was cold war, then post cold war, then rise of BRICs.
At the moment we're teetering on ridgeline of populist policies in 'western' countries. If Trumpism & similar prevail, then US is accelerating it's own economic decline by encouraging more automation (since they don't want to encourage immigration any more), and China is stepping in to fill the leadership void on world trade and quite a few other global issues. Just at same moment when UK chose to step back from wielding global influence by implementing Brexit.

World has always changed.

echt · 22/01/2018 08:27

What keeps people occupied, boosts economy, AND shrinks population?
Educating and Empowering females. It works every time.- makeourfuture

Not every time, sadly. See OP - Cote

Well there is correlation between female literacy and fewer children, though it would be good to see data about the other two.

Not sure what your point is, Cote, do you think the OP is thick/undereducated/has not taken advantage of her education/is not gainfully employed/has bred like a rabbit?

University students are massive sheep - Elton. Do you mean, like really really big sheep? Or do you mean in the main, sheep-like in their behaviour? I really hope you weren't at uni because your point is ill-made and a ludicrous, unsubstantiated generalisation.

Falmer · 22/01/2018 08:30
