Are you the stage sets good.

I was let down by Chicago non existant one.

andpeggy1 · 20/08/2018 22:57

Me and my dh were lucky enough to see it 3 times within the first 3 months of London show being open. Needless to say it just got better every time we saw it!

Grosh · 09/10/2018 15:06

I'd love to take my two kids but one is a little sensitive. What is the violence that people keep taking about? Are their slaves on stage/any maltreatment? Thanks

LIZS · 09/10/2018 16:32

Shooting, bullying, flirting?

PrincessHairyMclary · 09/10/2018 16:42

I took DD when she was 8 and the youngest audience member I saw by quite a few years. She was familiar with the songs and storyline so followed it easily but there are a few swear words. The audience is more mature than other West End musicals so make sure any children you take can be quiet and sit still for the duration.

On a side note we were in grand circle in supposedly terrible seats but the view was good, leg room fairly non existent but we had the aisle the seats only cost £37 each. The cast are brilliant at the stage door and we're really good chatting to DD it isn't very well organised and we got photos of 8 or 9 cast members which was nice.

PrincessHairyMclary · 09/10/2018 16:43
  • is well organised
Grosh · 09/10/2018 16:48

Thanks guys..so there's no sign of chains and whips? Are there even slaves on stage or slavery is just mentioned?

LIZS · 09/10/2018 17:37

Slavery is alluded to.

Grosh · 09/10/2018 18:13

If nothing is seen on stage, that's brilliant. Thanks so much!

DancingForTheDog · 09/10/2018 18:24

I would love to see this. My DD and her boyfriend were lucky enough to see it before it became THE thing to see! It was so funny - their tickets were standard price but they had a private box with it's own ensuite toilet and A PERSONAL BUTLER, who asked them if they would like to order anything from the bar. Neither really drink so asked for pick'n'mix sweets Grin. They were totally blown away by the show

AuntBeastie · 09/10/2018 18:33

Slavery is alluded to but you never see slaves on stage, and no chains or whips. It’s very stylized - nothing graphic on stage.

I’m seeing it for the second time later this year - it is the cultural experience of a lifetime!

ginnybag · 09/10/2018 18:41

Saw it in Feb, having taken 8 yo DD. The tickets were her bday present.

It really is something else.

chaoscategorised · 09/10/2018 18:50

I'm so jealous, I've been saving for tickets/train and hoping I'll get some that aren't too far away time wise! I love it so much.

TanquerayTickles · 10/10/2018 20:10

We saw Hamilton 2 weeks ago having booked it 8 months back and were blown away by it! So much so we just managed to nab returns for tomorrow's matinee and managed to get Row A, we were not throwing away that shot! Grin

SO excited!

MrsChollySawcutt · 10/10/2018 20:37

Ooh can't wait to see it in December. I'm taking DD for her 16th birthday!

Lauren0rder · 10/10/2018 20:42

Going in November.

Booked tickets in January.

Ds is beside himself with excitement.

sidsgranny · 14/10/2018 13:56

Saw it yesterday afternoon Was absolutely amazing - have booked this morning to take DS in February!

Chimchar · 20/10/2018 09:10

Hi. Silly question....me and dd going for her birthday in December. Do people dress up to go, or are jeans ok to wear?!

LIZS · 20/10/2018 09:11

No dress code, usual smart casual.

PrimalLass · 20/10/2018 09:13

I'd love to go but it really is insanely expensive.

LIZS · 20/10/2018 09:15

We paid about £40 each which seems average for a lower category seat in WE these days.

Chimchar · 20/10/2018 09:19

Great, thanks Lizs

PositiveVibez · 20/10/2018 09:23

I bought tickets for Christmas for dd. We go in February.

She is going to be beside herself.

I can't wait either 👏👏👏👏

DevaDiva · 20/10/2018 09:37

I'm taking daughter, her friend and my niece to London in November. £100 a ticket, friend paid for hers DD and DNs were birthday presents.

I'm not massively excited, don't really know any of the songs but have very high expectations.

Especially after reading this thread

Hadjab · 20/10/2018 09:41

@DevaDiva if you don’t love it, you have no soul. I’ve been listening to the soundtrack for a good few months, so I practically peed myself with excitement throughout the performance.....
