Saw the matinee this afternoon and honestly think it was the si god greatest cultural experience of my entire life and now all I want to do is talk about it forever Grin

@speakout alright Hmm just trying to help since you were confused.

@Chimchar they are releasing more tickets in July! The more reasonably priced ones (£35-£80) should be available then. Good luck!

@QueenAravis have an AMAZING time!

@Trashboat I'm hoping so too so we can go again! I'm sure it will once it's established a bit as it's so popular!

Very jealous! Simply can't afford tickets. They've been playing the songs on Encore radio for about a year so I'm au fait with the "main" songs, determined to learn "Satisfied" (??) all the way through without tripping over my tongue Grin

Would also love to see LMM lead it.

KathyBeale · 17/01/2018 07:16

We went last week and it was amazing. I genuinely think it might have changed musical theatre forever.

Also, what is Encore radio? Is it all musicals?

supersop60 · 17/01/2018 07:21

A friend of mine is in the band at Hamilton and he is a direct descendant of one of Hamilton's closest friends.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 17/01/2018 07:29

I've got tickets! Going in a couple of weeks! DD got them on the first release and is so excited.

peachgreen · 17/01/2018 07:30

I've listened to the soundtrack about a thousand times over the past year or so and had tickets to see it in FANTASTIC seats but had to give them up as I got pregnant and couldn't fly over! Gutted. Can't wait to see it though - planning on going around Christmas this year.

bluebells1 · 17/01/2018 07:31

No Thank You! I

toomanykidstocount · 17/01/2018 07:32

Will it be on for years and years (like Les Mis) so we will all get to see it eventually do you think?

JemAppelleLafayette · 17/01/2018 07:44

Went to the second preview and it was better than I’d ever imagined. We were in the back row and still had a fabulous view. Was lucky enough to get a glimpse of LMM at the stage door!

LyraPotter · 17/01/2018 07:46

@toomanykidstocount I think it probably will be! And once this first buzz has settled a bit it will be much easier to get tickets.

@supersop60 that's very cool!!

Everyone who is going have a bloody fantastic time then come back here and tell us what you thought!

Posted too soon. I am not paying stupid money to watch this. Someone will eventually make a movie or record it for youtube. Also, I am not American and care nothing about their founding fathers.

Chimchar · 17/01/2018 07:48

Fab! Thanks Lyra.
Will keep and eye out.
How do you know about the tickets btw? Where should I be looking for info? Smile

Notso · 17/01/2018 07:49

YABU

lookingforthecorkscrew · 17/01/2018 07:58

Bought tickets a year ago, went last week. Didn’t have to sell my house to afford them either! Grin

AgentProvocateur · 17/01/2018 08:01

I’m going in May. I’ve had my tickets since last January. I’m beyond excited.

lookingforthecorkscrew · 17/01/2018 08:01

I’d def recommend a listen to the soundtrack before you go, I know it pretty much by heart and it didn’t detract at all from the experience of seeing it performed, I still felt very much that I was seeing it for the first time.

Shakey15000 · 17/01/2018 08:05

KathyBeale yes! All musical songs. ALL day. I listen on an app as it's only available dahn sarf or DAB

KathyBeale · 17/01/2018 08:05

Bluebells, it’s about the American Revolution so it’s our history too.

Shakey15000 · 17/01/2018 08:06

I'm getting the slight hint that Bluebell is not really a fan WinkGrin

juliesaway · 17/01/2018 08:08

All seems a bit emperors new clothes to me - for American-ophiles....Would we get so rapt at a musical about our own history or is it just because this is London/New York cool and the Zeitgeist? What’s so amazing about it? Is it anti-Trump or something?

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 17/01/2018 08:13

People have been filling UK theatres for decades to watch Les Mis and it’s not because they’re really really interested in the 1832 Paris Uprising. It’s about the quality of the songs.

lookingforthecorkscrew · 17/01/2018 08:17

It’s amazing because it changes our whole perception of what a Broadway/West End musical can be. It uses a broad range of eclectic musical styles to give each character a unique voice - in a similar way to how Shakespeare used iambic pentameter/blank verse to define characters and establish status. It takes a very white American history and retells through pretty much all non-white actors - giving the message ‘this belongs to us all, we are all responsible for building our country’s future’

AntArcticFox · 17/01/2018 08:23

Possibly YABU, I need more information.

Op do you normally like musicals?

I'm a bit dubious after the rave reviews of Lala land.

lookingforthecorkscrew · 17/01/2018 08:27

Try not to think of Hamilton in the same way you might think of We Will Rock You or Grease...

AntArcticFox · 17/01/2018 08:31

I was thinking more Cole Porter / Leonard Bernstein from the hype.
