Phew, just phoned Ticketmaster, they cancelled my booking and have re-booked the same tickets using dd's card. I transferred some money into her account beforehand.

Can't wait till her birthday tomorrow, she's going to be so excited! Smile

Winterfellismyhome · 30/01/2018 10:55

Just got tickets for November. Ridiculously excited!

BagelGoesWalking · 30/01/2018 10:59

LMM is a genius or pretty damn near to one!

Have been listening to the soundtrack for over a year since DD introduced me to it. She went to see it with a friend (the one who first told her about it and came over from Ireland with her family) a couple of weeks ago and LOVED it, of course. I'm going on May and can't wait.

King George is apparently fantastically funny and all the cast are brilliant.

Well worth getting the Hamilton app and trying in the daily lottery.

AlexanderHamilton · 30/01/2018 11:06

We will just St agree to forget 'Bring it On'

greatbigwho · 30/01/2018 14:42

Chimchar · 30/01/2018 16:08

Hi. I'm here now. Sorry Rebecca. Not had any joy myself! No response from emails or phone lines. Dh on hold now to the number just posted.
Will let you know if we get any joy. Hope you get sorted!

Gizlotsmum · 30/01/2018 16:10

Has anyone had the cheap seats? Is it worth paying more to get stalls?

Chimchar · 30/01/2018 16:11

Thanks so much greatbigwho for the number. We're all sorted. Full refund of the tickets that dh bought with a £3 total fee.
Thanks

RebeccaWithTheGoodHair · 30/01/2018 16:30

Thank you thank you greatbigwho - the duplicates are all cancelled now. Really appreciate your help and Chimchar I'm glad yours is sorted out as well.

Although I agree with the sentiment of selling everything you own to see Hamilton I'm rather glad to not pay twice!!

bruffin · 31/01/2018 13:19

Its a shame In the Heights has closed. I loved the Kings Cross Theatre setting, it worked so well for that show. I always meant to go and see it again. I dont think the songs were so memorable but it had so much energy and vivacity

bridgetoc · 31/01/2018 13:28

YABU......I've seen it, and while it was good, I was expecting something better given the reviews and hype. Some critics say that it's a groundbreaking musical....... It's not, it's a good musical.

In truth, I thought Billy Elliot, which was on in The Victoria Palace Theatre before Hamilton, was much better.

choirmumoftwo · 31/01/2018 13:39

Whether you enjoyed it or not bridgetoc, it is very definitely groundbreaking in it's use of musical styles. I also liked Billy Elliot but they're so different, they're not comparable. On the other hand, I cannot bear Les Mis yet others rave about it.
It's like art - you may not personally like it but your opinion doesn't alter its artistic merits. Horses for courses.

gillybeanz · 31/01/2018 13:42

I saw it on youtube and wasn't impressed tbh, seen much better and wouldn't go with free tickets, but each to their own.

PickleFish · 31/01/2018 13:52

How early did you get to the theatre in order to get through security/collect tickets etc, and not feel really rushed or stressed?

Any recommendations of good places to eat nearby?

Going in half term (with adults). MIght see what else is on that day to go down earlier in the day and make a day of it.

greatbigwho · 31/01/2018 13:55

We were in £37 seats the first time we went and had an amazing view - I loved being able to see all the action which you'd miss if you were in the stalls

bridgetoc · 31/01/2018 13:56

@choirmumoftwo........ Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it, and thought it was good, but not as good as the reviews suggested. Many of my friends who are all West End regulars felt the same way. Good, but not great. My DH thought it was terrible, but that's because he can't stand the music in it.

It is all subjective though, as you say.......

headintheproverbial · 31/01/2018 14:34

Also going later in the year. Can't wait!!

Gizlotsmum · 31/01/2018 15:05

I’m hoping dh took my not so subtle hints ( sent him a booking link 😊) and got me tickets for my birthday!

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 31/01/2018 17:28

I go to the theatre probably more than once a month on average... and I thought it was incredible and well worth the hype.

I booked to take my DD today, she loves it!

calzone · 31/01/2018 17:32

Got tickets for November.

Ds is very excited.

I know nothing about it.

PlectrumElectrum · 13/02/2018 14:46

On my way back from seeing Hamilton last night. It was even better than I'd hoped & my expectations were through the roof! It was just mesmerising & full on entertainment. Amazing.

PickleFish · 13/02/2018 15:06

Would you recommend listening to it first?

I'm seeing it soon and know nothing really about it, apart from the very basics of US history.

I was going to not listen/watch anything about it and just have the whole story/songs a surprise, but I know that with rap music, you often have to listen quite carefully to get the words, and if you lose concentration for a bit, you've missed something.

Do you think you'd gain more from knowing the words, or do you wish you'd been absolutely surprised when you saw it?

bruffin · 13/02/2018 15:32

Ds knew nothing about it and wss blown away, got retutns the next week to take his gf.

PickleFish · 13/02/2018 17:29

that's good; maybe it's better not to know, and just to pay attention and listen closely - and then go back for another listen!!!

PlectrumElectrum · 14/02/2018 00:20

I avoided listening to it, reading about it. I had a vague knowledge of the premise but deliberately kept it that way & was glad I didn't listen to it. I've since downloaded the broadway cast recording & it's the entire show so it would spoil the experience IMO. A few of the quips are lost without the visual performance.

I'm still humming some of the songs now Grin.

You will absolutely love it. It's simply the best thing I've seen performed live. We had the alternate lead & you wouldn't know as he was just brilliant too. There wasn't a single weak point in the entire cast. Whole audience stood up at the end & I've never felt that reaction from an audience before. It was electric.
