Saw the matinee this afternoon and honestly think it was the si god greatest cultural experience of my entire life and now all I want to do is talk about it forever Grin

OP posts:
BlondeB83 · 25/02/2018 11:56

I loved it but £200 (now £240) for a premium ticket is daylight robbery!

Str4ngedaysindeed · 25/02/2018 12:00

I genuinely thought it was about Emma Hamilton 😖

NurseButtercup · 06/03/2018 08:22

I just bought a ticket to see Hamilton in September - £37.50. it doesn't have to cost a small fortune to go. I'm really excited Grin

DeccaMitfordsEntryVisa · 07/03/2018 16:49

I am going this evening, I am very excited

AlexanderHamilton · 07/03/2018 16:54

It was phenomenal. The best piece of theatre I have seen for 30 years.

Mominatrix · 10/03/2018 13:41

Totally lives up to the hype, and exceeds it. Saw it last night and even DH, who normally hates musicals, was blown away. I want to see it again!

DeccaMitfordsEntryVisa · 15/03/2018 13:25

Probably the best thing I have ever seen.

I saw Girl From The North Country on Tuesday. 6 days after Hamilton. I think my expectations were too high as a result of Hamilton's brilliance! (Perhaps I should never go to the theatre again .......!)

drspouse · 27/03/2018 14:03

I saw it last night. It's amazing. Can I go again, I wonder.

Hisashiburi · 16/05/2018 17:39

This was incredible. Loved the music!

ElliePhillips · 12/06/2018 06:27

Bought my tickets, based on nothing but the hype, in January 2017 (registered for pre-sale in Oct 2016) and since then have felt rather ambivalent about the whole thing as I don't love musicals and am only a bit into hip hop.

Finally saw it last night (had to book dates 18 months in advance to get anything - I had row B 17 & 18 for £90 each) and it was...AMAZING.

OP is right. Even if you are not a musical person try to go. It is a beautiful show with clever lyrics and gorgeous music. I'm a convert.

LIZS · 12/06/2018 07:06

More tickets were released last week

BagelGoesWalking · 12/06/2018 08:29

I saw it a few weeks ago after waiting a year for the day to arrive. Know the songs/story very well as DD and I listened to the original soundtrack for months last year.

Absolutely fabulous Grin The cast is amazing. The dancing and staging are great and add such a lot. King George is wonderfully funny, as is Jefferson/Lafayette. Also thought the guy playing Washington had a beautiful voice.

Would go and see it again, no question. My son and his gf are seeing it tonight.

Triskaidekaphilia · 12/06/2018 09:55

Those who have been there, is it worth me buying tickets literally right at the back of the top circle or will we see nothing?

crow2018 · 12/06/2018 10:07

We sat a few rows from the back on one of our visits and we had a brilliant view

StruggsToFunc · 12/06/2018 10:46

@triskaidekaphilia there is a Facebook group called Hamilton @ West End with an enormous photo album of the view from pretty much every seat. You can also check Theatre Monkey.

peeseandchickle · 12/06/2018 10:49

Oooh I SO want to see it. It's so expensive though but yes you've made me want to re-mortgage and just go! 😜

Churrolicious · 12/06/2018 13:13

So I just bought two tickets in a box (our own box) for January for £37.50 each. It says restricted view but someone posted a photo on Reddit of the actual seats and they look pretty good to me (plus we can just move the chairs in the box if need be!).

There were 'slips boxes' tickets available on some dates I was looking for £20 each. I know they're not going to be the same as the £200 plus ones but I thought I'd mention it because frankly I'm pretty sure they're not going to be a tenth as good so might be worth a look for those not wanting to remortgage!

SO VERY EXCITED! It's a big surprise for DH. Now the question is, do I play him the soundtrack beforehand or leave it all so he goes in fresh...? He's an American politics nerd and loves musicals but this hasn't been on his radar at all.

ajandjjmum · 13/06/2018 10:50

I thought I wouldn't enjoy it so much, as I didn't know the music. I loved it - as did DH. Infact I've got tickets again for just before Christmas to go with some friends - more than £37.50 though!

Brilliant show.

CremeBrulee · 13/06/2018 11:03

I've just booked the Matcham box for DDs 16th birthday treat in December. She loves the music, knows the words off by heart. Hoping she will really love it!

saladfingers · 19/08/2018 13:45

Taking my OH for his birthday in December. He is the biggest hip hop fan. He proposed to me outside 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx NYC, the birthplace of hip hop. Does anyone have any hotel or restaurant recommendations as we'll be traveling from Wales and staying overnight?

MrsChollySawcutt · 19/08/2018 13:59

What's your budget and what kind of hotel do you prefer? I've stayed in lots of the hotel in Victoria and vicinity as my work has an office around the corner from the Hamilton theatre.

saladfingers · 19/08/2018 14:57

Mid range I guess although I'm sure he'd appreciate a bit of high end luxury. Smile Will need to look for a good deal I guess. I don't know London very well at all so any help would be greatly appreciated.

MrsChollySawcutt · 19/08/2018 18:58

Mid range hotels in the area:

  • Park Plaza Victoria
- Doubletree Hilton Victoria and also at Westminster - St James' Court is lovely but pricey, sometimes you can be lucky and get a reasonable price. - Reubens at the Palace, very traditional, popular with tourists

If you want to splash out on somewhere fantastic then I recommend The Goring or The Langham London.

If you want to stay a little further out, I recommend:

  • Pestaba Chelsea Bridge (lovely pool and spa)
  • Park Plaza Riverbank
saladfingers · 19/08/2018 20:32

Fab, thanks so much for taking the time to help. I will start looking out for deals. Grin getting excited now!

drspouse · 20/08/2018 22:24

I want to go again sob.
