Wtf is this programme? It's so awkward and ridiculous even my baby looks confused. I googled the presenters and they seem to be children's tv royalty yet they are so cringey together! There's no real AIBU except AIBU to physically cringe each time it comes on?!

Most of the things on CBeebies annoy me. My eldest are 10 and 8 but now I have another little one so have it on again sometimes. Forgot how awful Mr Tumble is uggh. He likes tele tubbies

Enidthecat · 16/01/2018 07:41

I cannot bare it and usually do not have to endure it because ds isn't usually up that early but we've had to watch it this morning. Give me hey dougie any day of the week.

GreyMorning · 16/01/2018 08:15

Love Dougie, Go Getters and Ocotnauts.

Cannot stand Little Roy, Katie Morag or Topsy and Tim.

DS thinks Tim is his best friend and keeps asking to go to his house 🙄

CurlsandCurves · 16/01/2018 08:31

Just watched the rainbow thing, whatever happened to Boogie Pete?

My kids are older and not watched CBeebies for years, but I still found myself singing ‘Can you do the kangaroo’ whilst tidying the kitchen last night...

Elledouble · 16/01/2018 08:38

Oh god, of course, Chris was the Anorak! He definitely hasn’t aged since I was a kid. Definitely got a portrait in the attic, that one.

pastabest · 16/01/2018 09:41

Have to say that although I'm not a fan of Mr Tumble I LOVE gigglebiz. I always think it's been done with the parents in mind as much as the children.

Waybaloo freaks me out but it has a weird calming influence on DD who is usually a whirlwind.

MrsHathaway · 16/01/2018 09:46

I grew up near the author of the original T&T books. One year for some bizarre reason there was a special birthday party for children who shared T&T's official birthday* and as I did indeed share it I was taken along.

  • the tv series gives them an early September birthday which is not consistent. I was quite young so may have details confused but I'm absolutely certain that it was to do with sharing a birthday with T&T.
Cath2907 · 16/01/2018 09:48

Show me show me your funky moves! Haven't watched this in years (DD gre out of it) but I'd still get up and boogey if the tune came on!

Hortonlovesahoo · 16/01/2018 09:51

Since the new program changes, I’ve really not liked it. Show me, show me just annoys me with the little fake voices.

candypanda · 16/01/2018 09:58

They definitely don't hate each other! Chris is god father to Pui's DC.
Also I love love love it and so do my 3 kids, it's so good for teaching them!

HebeMumsnet · 16/01/2018 10:01

I love Pui! She just seemed normal and nice and like a friendly adult that wasn't crying or asking for rice cakes.

When my kids were tiny and I never got to leave the house, there was a lot of bleary-eyed Show Me Show Me. I always thought Pui looked like she was giving me a 'special look' through the telly that said, 'I know you're better than this, don't worry. One day we'll leave all this behind and sit in a pub beer garden together in late summer and drink Pimms and laugh about it. Hang on in there, love.'

I really don't think that was just me imagining that.

Grin Yes, there's a definite air of "I'm doing this because the children like it, but fucking hell" whereas some other presenters are acting their socks off pretending they actually want to try to find a carrot hidden in the house.

See also: when Grampy Rabbit offers to sing a song and all the adults say no and all the children say YES so he does. Cracks me up every time.

Oh and that reminds me that in original Teletubbies, when Laa Laa sings, the flowers all squeak variations on "What's that terrible noise? Ugh what a racket" while the narrator says "Laa Laa is singing a lovely song."

HebeMumsnet · 16/01/2018 10:48

YES, MrsHathaway! I definitely get The Special Look from Daddy Pig, too. He KNOWS.

HottySnanky · 16/01/2018 11:23

Ah see I get the special look from Mummy Pig. When she's being all PA with Daddy Pig I can just tell she's longing to smash the fourth wall and say "Fuck this for a game of soldiers, let's go round to Grampy Rabbit's and drink gin? NOT YOU PEPPA. You stay here with Daddy and George."

Agree that Show Me Show Me is weird but I have a grownup's view of it so what do I know.

There should be more of Robert the Robot on CBeebies. He is wasted in Justin's House.

Also, Mr Bloom. I can't decide if he really, really annoys me or if I really, really fancy him....

HebeMumsnet · 16/01/2018 12:00

I don't know about Mr Bloom either, Hotty. I once had a filthy dream with him in it. I think if he broke the fourth wall with me I might go all unnecessary. I haven't the energy.

You know where you are with Pui.

peachypips · 16/01/2018 12:11

We used to mess with the lyrics (DH and I)

Show me show me a great fat arse
Show me show me a swearing Mum
Show me show me this shitty programme

Etc etc. Makes it more bearable.

Shufflebumnessie · 16/01/2018 13:29

I couldn't stand the programme when DS started watching it however over time it's grown on me and now I actually quite like it - particularly the episodes that are outside! I really need to get out more...

LadyMarmyLard · 16/01/2018 14:50

particularly the episodes that are outside!

Yes! It always looks sunny and warm. I need to get me some of that vitamin D.

MrTrebus · 16/01/2018 16:18

OMG mumsnet HQ commented on my thread 3 times!! Does that mean it gets to go in classics? 🤔 I feel like a celebrity 😎

I totally forgot about Mr Bloom he is so annoying especially that weird walk he does, it's offensive to farmers/landscape gardeners/whoever he's supposed to be!

How dare you speak ill of Chris and pui. They are amazing. Allowed me to drink my coffee in peace, it’s a 20 mins show. Fabulous.

I have met them, twice. I love them.

I did thank them for allowing me to have a cuppa in peace whilst it was hot. I think they understood me.

Chris and pui work together for loads of things, they wrote old jacks boat, Justin’s house. Loads of CBeebies Stuff. Chris does the stargazing live.

They are good friends IRL. Also Chris has very twinkling eyes. Both are quite tiny people.

MrTrebus · 16/01/2018 18:18

Haha tiny people! Random ending to your very thought-provoking post there!!

I used to shout at the tv when Mo Mo's rainbow song was on because they got indigo and violet the wrong way round.

HottySnanky · 16/01/2018 19:00

I've figured it out, @HebeMumsnet - he really, really annoys me when he opens his mouth, and I really, really fancy him when he's not talking. It's that fake twisty-mouthed northern accent he's got going on and plus he's quite patronising towards the kids "Heeeeey, tiddlers! Who can tell me what this is??!!!" (when it's quite clearly a fucking carrot or whatever)

MustBeThursday · 16/01/2018 20:50

DD1 loves Show Me Show Me. I quite like it Blush the tunes are really catchy...

TheWeeMacGregors · 16/01/2018 20:52
You have to check this out for sexy Mr Bloom
