Got this idea from the 'creepiest place' thread.

Mine are Cape Cornwall, there is something about the way the little bays entertain you either side of the mount. And Breedon Hill, those folding meadows, ever increasing in height, broken by hedges replicating the pattern work of a turtle's shell as they rise and gently curve away. It would be awesome to live there, the views and sunsets must look amazing.

Rangali Island, Maldives. Had a house on stilts in the water and no neighbours.

It's my go to place in my head when I have to keep calm.

Babyroobs · 14/01/2018 19:45

Hahei beach, New Zealand. We were about the only people on the beach.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 14/01/2018 19:48

Another Maldives vote. House on stilts, perfect little private swimming pool and coral snorkelling below. Free food and drink. Best place ever.

BATu batu a tiny island in Malaysia. Just idyllic.

LineysRunt · 14/01/2018 19:50

The Dead Sea, at night. The smell, the silence ...

Radhanagar Beach on Havelock Island in the Andamans..... pretty special.

Or Mtunzini beach in South Africa, wild sand dunes cascading onto a pretty rough surf. Wild and unspoiled.

Pushkar in India. We’d just come from Delhi which is the opposite of relaxing.
It’s my favourite place on the planet.

pepperminttaste · 14/01/2018 19:56

Machu Picchu. Felt strangely, beautifully empty despite there being a crowd on the way in.

Felixandtheflippers · 14/01/2018 20:08

Maldives- the most beautiful, quiet and relaxing place ever.

ShinyMe · 14/01/2018 20:13

The roof of my parents' woodshed. They live in a very rural part of Snowdonia, and the shed has a nice thick slate roof with a slight slant, tilted towards the summer sun, and is above the garden. In the summer, you can lie on the shed roof in the sunshine, surrounded by honeysuckle and roses, with the only sound being birds, bees and the leaves (and the dog snoring on your lap). It's just lovely.

dottycat123 · 14/01/2018 20:32

Walking the high fells in the lake district around the Langdale pikes .

GrumpyOldMare · 14/01/2018 20:36

Chalice Well in Glastonbury.
A spot up on Pen Hill on the Mendips, the view and the peace is perfect.

Crunchymum · 14/01/2018 20:36

The Grand Canyon.

Have never known silence, peace and calmness like it.

Such a beautiful place but so soothing.

QueenStreaky · 14/01/2018 20:38

Countless places in Northumberland. It's heaven.

Shockers · 14/01/2018 20:40

A little jetty on a small lake in the NW. In summer, damselflies dance over the water and around your head as you swim. At sunset, everything is reflected in the water. It’s as though I’m the only person in the world.

Storminateapot · 14/01/2018 20:45

Sacre Coeur in Paris. I sat in there and was overwhelmed by the most amazing feeling of perfect peace. Never had it before or since, just wonderful.

travailtotravel · 14/01/2018 20:47

Tumilnaughts · 14/01/2018 20:50

I second Pushkar in India. So calm compared to the rest of India. Also Kawlaw in Burma- quiet mountain town. Bliss.

Stompythedinosaur · 14/01/2018 20:51

Galapagos islands. Just perfect.

Stormwhale · 14/01/2018 20:52

Letoonia in fethiye, Turkey. I wouldn't recommend it now as it apparently isn't as good, but when we went 2 years ago it was incredible. A private bay that you could swim across, incredible food, and dp and I got engaged under a beautiful statue of a man and a woman kissing. It was just perfect. Serene and beautiful.

LizzieSiddal · 14/01/2018 20:52

My garden.
We’re rural and have a Lake right next door to us. I love sitting and watching the birds, deers first thing and last thing at night and also a pair of swans who descended last year. Mind you, they are anything but peaceful when they land in the water. They flap, a lot.
