Got this idea from the 'creepiest place' thread.

Mine are Cape Cornwall, there is something about the way the little bays entertain you either side of the mount. And Breedon Hill, those folding meadows, ever increasing in height, broken by hedges replicating the pattern work of a turtle's shell as they rise and gently curve away. It would be awesome to live there, the views and sunsets must look amazing.

Oh, wow. Lots of places in Mull. Northumberland. Samoa... New Zealand.

Bananalanacake · 14/01/2018 21:19

RoRo. An island in Sweden. You get a free ferry there. Lots of walks round the island next to the sea. Horses roaming free. Very quiet but a few houses there. Other nice islands were Knipla and Hyppeln and Groto.

Maui

TheSconeOfStone · 14/01/2018 21:20

Iceland.

Wast Water, or pretty much anywhere in the lakes.

Coastal footpath in Devon/Cornwall/Pembrokeshire on a sunny day.

Kinderdiijk in the Netherlands.

Deserted Breton beaches in the heat of an Indian Summer on our honeymoon.

Cloud forest in Ecuador.

The Seychelles. I was on a work trip there (lucky I know!) and a few friends and I walked for a while and found a beach for the day. We were the only ones there all day long,it was paradise!

KiaOraAura · 14/01/2018 21:27

Lundy for me too, out of season so there are no day trippers. It's truly heaven on earth.

The second place I'm not going to say exactly where, but it's off a small Greek Ionian island. We hire a tiny little boat and moor in a little inlet by an even smaller island with nothing but a tiny church on it. We sling the anchor and sometimes spend all day there. The water is so clear you can see the sea bed. DH dives for sea urchins and I snorkel.

Two very different islands but both wonderful.

The Royal National Park in Sydney gets my vote.

Persephone31 · 14/01/2018 21:41

Brandberg - small village near Mayerhofen in Austria. Little church, the sound of cow bells, gentle slopes covered in wildflowers, tranquil and beautiful

Primulas · 14/01/2018 21:45

@TheDogHasEatenIt, you must go back to Lundy! I must confess I didn't go as long ago as that, but I can't imagine it's changed much - you get fined if you use your mobile in the pub Grin. I also second KiaOraAura's comment about out of season. Go on the helicopter in the winter. Heaven on earth indeed Wink

KTCluck · 14/01/2018 21:45

Ross Sands, the most beautiful, quiet beach just north of Bamburgh in Northumberland. It's a bit of a walk from the car park but so worth it when the sea suddenly appears over the dunes. Every time I've been it's been deserted. Probably shouldn't post this. I might have to share it next time

BlackPeppercorn · 14/01/2018 21:49

Nuns Valley, Madeira. I climb up to the top of the path and sit on the stone bench and just breathe. Life goes on, I am very small and just need to make a little path for myself through the world.

Wye Downs. Really good if I need to 'shout it out'.

Portreath beach, for the remembrance of a near perfect day, a bit 'the way we were'.

undertheradarplease · 14/01/2018 21:50

@queenstreaky there’s no place on earth as beautiful Flowers

Toddlerteaplease · 14/01/2018 21:53

The garden at the back of the old bishops palace in Wells. Just beautiful and so tranquil. Never been anywhere like it.

RockyBayEve · 14/01/2018 21:53

South Mavora lake New Zealand.
Beautiful, remote and totally quiet. I didn't see anyone there was not even a plane trail in the sky.

SheDoneAlreadyDoneHadHerses · 14/01/2018 21:55

Cathedral Quarries in Little Langdale - massive caves which are just magical.
St Michael's Mount
Giant's Causeway (if you can ignore the tourists)
West Sands St Andrews

fatbottomgirl67 · 14/01/2018 21:56

Alderney . Happiest childhood holidays there. Went back with my kids and had the most fabulous trip. Lovely unspoilt little beaches, friendly people and we could walk everywhere. It really is my heads happy place

ecosln · 14/01/2018 21:57

Tikehau French Polynesia. True Robinson Crusoe feeling. Bora Bora absolutely stunning but for tranquil and relaxing it has to be Tikehau

Great subject... reading all the replies took my mind off something and made me relax imagining all the places!

LightDrizzle · 14/01/2018 21:59

The coastline between Scarborough and Runswick Bay: Staithes, Robin Hood’s Bay and the like. A lovely walk along a beach or coastal path then staring into a fire with a mug of something warm or a glass of wine. It’s a magical place, particularly on bright autumn or winter days.

JustCallMeJanet · 14/01/2018 21:59

Whitsand bay, Cornwall. So beautiful. The calm before the stormiest time of my life.

SealSong · 14/01/2018 21:59

South Uist, Balranald bay, me being the only person there, surrounded by bird song and an incredible horseshoe shaped bay.

artiface · 14/01/2018 22:01

Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada
Bliss

SealSong · 14/01/2018 22:02

North Uist, Balranald, I mean.

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 14/01/2018 22:03

Hard to choose between these three places: Lake Minnewanka in the Canadian Rockies, Uig Sands on the Isle of Lewis and, as a pp said, Wastwater in the Lake District.

For me, total peace and relaxation means being near water and no-one else around. Mountains are good too!

eyesonme · 14/01/2018 22:05

Southwold in Suffolk, on the beach listening to the sea crash on the pebbles

WhooooAmI24601 · 14/01/2018 22:06

A beach on Kefalonia. We sailed around the island and swam out to the beach, ate supper, taught the DCs to snorkel and played in the sand. It was the most perfect, peaceful place I've ever been to.
