What's the most tranquil, relaxing and perfect place you have ever been?

Got this idea from the 'creepiest place' thread.

Mine are Cape Cornwall, there is something about the way the little bays entertain you either side of the mount. And Breedon Hill, those folding meadows, ever increasing in height, broken by hedges replicating the pattern work of a turtle's shell as they rise and gently curve away. It would be awesome to live there, the views and sunsets must look amazing.

Tibetian plateau... you feel so close to the sky that you could touch the stars

JennyOnAPlate · 14/01/2018 20:54

Saona island (just off the coast of the Dominican Republic).

bingbongnoise · 14/01/2018 20:54

Snowdonia.

MrsTerryPratchett · 14/01/2018 20:54

Ha Long Bay very early in the morning as all the people silently rowed their children to school. I was the only person awake on my boat. Misty, watery, magical.

ModreB · 14/01/2018 20:55

In my campervan, in a farmer's field. It could be anywhere, but it's the best sleep I have ever had.

ineedwine99 · 14/01/2018 20:55

Mahe, Seychelles, hotels all spread out, our hotel was on a lot of land so very quiet, calm waters and bird song 😍
After that Heleakala at sunrise (Hawaii)

PotatoesPastaAndBread · 14/01/2018 20:57

My bed!

bertsdinner · 14/01/2018 20:58

Bleaklow Head, Derbyshire and Black Hill, West Yorkshire, both cold, bleak and windswept. Not too many people, I feel alone up there, I love it, no sound except the odd bird.
I also love The Ferryman restaurant in Elounda, Crete. Really chilled out, Greek restaurant. Very relaxed, beautiful views, no rush.

Maelstrop · 14/01/2018 20:59

Haweswater reservoir in the Lake District. Silent, peaceful, bit odd in dry summers when you can see the spire sticking up. There is a pair of golden eagles about.

The roof of my parents' woodshed. They live in a very rural part of Snowdonia, and the shed has a nice thick slate roof with a slight slant, tilted towards the summer sun, and is above the garden. In the summer, you can lie on the shed roof in the sunshine, surrounded by honeysuckle and roses, with the only sound being birds, bees and the leaves (and the dog snoring on your lap). It's just lovely.

That sounds blissful.

mumpoints · 14/01/2018 21:00

ShinyMe Did your mum ever live in Leicester?

(Knew someone who lived there for a while and they had a place like that on the lower banks of Snowdon!)

ethelfleda · 14/01/2018 21:01

Can't remember the name of the place but it was a camp site just outside of Harare, Zimbabwe. It had a bird sanctuary. It was on the edge of a small lake and one afternoon I was sat on the grass in the sunshine watching the fishermen cast their nets... there were dragonflies buzzing around me and just behind me wandered in some white horses and zebra just feeding on the grass. I was eating the most beautiful, tasty ripe fruit at the time as well. It was just perfect. Would love to be there now.

Cleanermaidcook · 14/01/2018 21:03

Wastwater in the Lake District.

fourfuckssake4 · 14/01/2018 21:04

Loch Rannock in Scotland, blissful. My woodland area of my garden on a warm summers evening.

SavvyFishFinger · 14/01/2018 21:04

I have been to that restaurant in Elounda also berts.

Crete is a tranquil place mostly.

Mrsgrindah I've been to Rarotonga too - what a place! The plane drops you right to the airport door and there were locals playing music and dancing when we got off. We could see whales leaping out of the ocean from where we were staying too. Gorgeous little island...

surlycurly · 14/01/2018 21:06

A tiny island off the west coast of Sweden. The whole archipelago is gorgeous but this particular place felt like heaven.

fourfuckssake4 · 14/01/2018 21:06

Loch Rannoch in Scotland, blissful. My woodland area in my garden on a warm summer evening in candle light sigh

Primulas · 14/01/2018 21:08

Lundy Island! It's like a perfect little world in the past. You have to stay though, not just a day trip.

thewanderer03 · 14/01/2018 21:08

Lantau island Hong Kong, I find monastery's incredibly peaceful anyway but the look out at this one overlooking the tiny islands in the sea, I had such a calm sense wash over me, I had to tear myself away.

orangina · 14/01/2018 21:10

Panarea, one of the Aolian islands off the coast of Sicily. Blissful.

TheFaerieQueene · 14/01/2018 21:10

My home. It is where I feel the happiest.

Doreah · 14/01/2018 21:10

We visited New Zealand there are so many places that fit the bill. The most peaceful and calming place for us was probably along the Waikanae river. There were beautiful fields and woods to walk through, wild lillies growing everyone. It was a sunny but not too hot day and the sunlight was dappled through the tree canopies. I was lovely and quiet, no one else in sight so all you could hear was the babbling of the river and the birds tweeting. It was utterly serene and tranquil.

ShinyMe · 14/01/2018 21:11

Mumpoints: no, sorry that wasn't her! Snowdonia is a lovely peaceful place though (when the weather cooperates!)

TheDogHasEatenIt · 14/01/2018 21:13

@Primulas i second Lundy Island. We holidayed there a few times as children (about 35 years ago) and whilst on one hand i would love to go back, i am too scared of it not being as perfect as i remember it.

Astella22 · 14/01/2018 21:14

Silhouette Island in the Seychelles - beach villas are just paradise.
