Got this idea from the 'creepiest place' thread.

Mine are Cape Cornwall, there is something about the way the little bays entertain you either side of the mount. And Breedon Hill, those folding meadows, ever increasing in height, broken by hedges replicating the pattern work of a turtle's shell as they rise and gently curve away. It would be awesome to live there, the views and sunsets must look amazing.

Gigha....but not if the feral cows are after you! It's just lovely otherwise.

and Lunan Beach, but not if there are Other fucking People there...I am quite possessive over that beach! And once I did actually see other actual fucking people Shock ....never have I been so glad for the dog's excellent recall! he was agog with curiosity :o

Symmonds Yat. Either evening or first thing in the morning (it can get really busy at certain times)
I still remember the sense of calm sitting on the balcony drinking my morning coffee on my honeymoon. Such a beautiful place!

@maelstrom I was at Hawes Water this weekend. I visit often. A cold and clear January day, no people and very few birds as most are migrated. Eerie and peaceful.

Artic National refuge in Alaska. Pretty much untouched, no other humans, no pollution, near silence.

The birch forests are what I would class as perfect.

The Applecross Peninsula, in Wester Ross. Achingly beautiful, even in the rain.

On a bench outside a hotel on the Isle of Skye. It was about midnight, clear night, no streetlights or anything. I have never felt more at peace looking up at the stars.

So many to choose from but one of my favourite places ever was the rose garden at a National Trust property called Trerice. They are my favourite flowers & it was just beautiful. Sadly the chap who tended it died & nobody took over 😥

I second the Isle of Skye. The view from Elgol beach across to the Cuillins is my all time favourite place.

Although Bamburgh beach in Northumberland runs a close second. At sunset. I stood on a sand dune while the sky turned red and looked out across miles of deserted beach towards the castle. My poor brain couldn't take the overwhelming amazing-ness and I just kept saying 'Wow!' 'Oh...just...wow!'

I like beaches obv. Grin

I can think of a few but probably my parents old house. 300 yards off a single track road, stunning views where you can see for miles and not see a single house just woods and fields and nearest neighbors a mile by crow on the other side of the hill.

Silhouette Island in the Seychelles had our honeymoon there. AMAZING

On the terrace of a hotel at the Nambiti game reserve in South Africa. it overlooked a watering hole. You could just lie on the sofas all day and watch warthogs and giraffes and kudu come down for a drink - it was magical.

Lake Hãwea, New Zealand. I was there on a beautiful sunny crisp winters day and the only sound was the ground slowly thawing. Breathtaking. I ache to go back.

Our favourite place is the Maldives, we have been to 9 different islands and they are so peaceful and relaxing. snorkeling around an island with your head just a few cm's in the water looking into a tropical fish tank with 1,000's of multicolored fish and corals beneath you, turtles, eagle and manta rays, then dine on fresh fish and steak and seafood,
. after dinner walk on the beach in the moonlight watching the fruit bats swirling around, miniature crabs scuttling away from your bare feet on talcum powder sand, sleep with a fan above your head listening to the waves gently lapping on the sand.
wake up naturally to birdsong, walk around the deserted island to breakfast overlooking turquoise waters.
sheer bliss.

Mewslade Bay on the Gower.
Just a beautiful day spent there in the sun on the rocks, waiting for the tide to go out a bit before swimming.

Atop a hill in Westray (northern Orkney island), lying in beautiful sunshine, and complete silence!

LimaLimo Lodge in the Simien Mountains in Ethiopia. At the lodge, looking down at the Simien Mountains engulfed in the shape shifting clouds, I felt completely at peace, and literally like I was on top of the world. Even the thought of that memory makes me want to take the first flight back.

Ginandplatonic · 23/02/2018 06:28

Tonga - so many deserted beaches with white sand and turquoise blue water surrounded by towering cliffs.

Also Tengboche monastery in the Everest region of Nepal. I've never seen so many stars in the night sky, they felt so close you could touch them. And absolute silence.

SeaWitchly · 23/02/2018 06:42

Rainbow beach and Double Island Point in Australia.

I looked down from a cliff into crystal blue water to see a mother humpback whale and her baby swimming directly below.

Magical place!
