Just that really... I've made a complaint about this image. It was served to me as a Facebook advert and it just really got to me.

She looks absolutely fine - slim, healthy, well-proportioned. Normal, even. Certainly well within the realms of normal.

The fact of the matter is - clothes look great on tall, slim people, and clothes manufacturers are in the business of selling clothes. So they'll market them to look as good as they can.

TheDowagerCuntess · 11/01/2018 19:27

If Boden put their clothes on a size 12-14 model say, and everyone thinks, 'hmm, that's really not a good look on her, no thanks', it's not going to do much for their profit margins, in all honesty.

Helpful for the customer, for sure. Not so much for them trying to flog frocks.

Lovely333 · 11/01/2018 19:29

Nothing wrong with the model, I cant see why you got so worked up tbh

zeezeek · 11/01/2018 19:41

I'm a size 22 and look good in Bowden clothes! Especially those dresses like the pink one with the fitted bodice and full skirt.

zeezeek · 11/01/2018 19:42

Boden even

BitchQueen90 · 11/01/2018 19:52

YABU.

Surely people know what clothes will flatter their figure and what won't? I don't need to see somebody who is my exact body shape wearing something to know if I want to order it or not. I'm short so I know something like that wouldn't look good on me!

This woman is a model. I'm not a model, I don't make a living on my looks so I don't expect to look like her at all. I'll never understand this issue.

WatchTheFoxes · 11/01/2018 19:57

It definitely isn't, I come across it all the time.

You come across lots of women size 8-10 with natural H cup breasts? That’s not my experience at all but I’ll agree to disagree.

SandyBabyToes · 11/01/2018 19:58

I think the models are too YOUNG.. Size, meh..

Few women in their early 20s shop in Boden - why can't they use women in their 30s?

I'm 20 and shop in Boden Smile

OP, these models aren't particularly thin really, but I have noticed that their figures are quite childlike. Especially the swimwear models. Perhaps childlike is the wrong word, maybe boyish? No real curvature where the hips are etc etc

PuddleOfInk · 11/01/2018 20:05

Yes, watch. I'm a bra fitter!

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 11/01/2018 20:15

I can't believe people are so insecure about their weight that they cannot recognise freaky photoshopped alien arms when they see them.

Either Boden employs lazy incompetent photoshoppers or 50% of their models have rickets.

Are you all really so desperate to insist wavy wrists are "healthy!! we should all look like that?!" USE YOUR EYES! I promise nobody will think you're fat.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 11/01/2018 20:25

Look at this healthy specimen of humanity! Boden brings us love! We should all look like this really of course.

Don’t send them a letter of complaint, OP. Send them a bottle of Vit D drops. It’s tragic that so many beautiful young women are experiencing osteomalacia.

AIBU to think Boden's models are too thin!
BuzzKillington · 11/01/2018 20:31

Madness! She is not too thin. She looks healthy and slim.

Our view of what is healthy looking is skewed.

Rainbunny · 11/01/2018 21:01

She looks slim but healthy to me. I do a different gripe with Boden though, I wish they made more dresses in styles that flatter women with boobs! Too many of their styles only look good if You're small breasted.

WatchTheFoxes · 11/01/2018 21:03

Puddle yes me too.

Estellanpip · 11/01/2018 21:05

She looks entirely normal and healthy.
You stated the image bothered you, and later, that you hadn't started your diet yet.
So you've body shamed a woman because you aren't feeling too good about yourself. Yabu, sorry.

ILoveDolly · 11/01/2018 21:20

I am a forty year old Boden customer, not particularly fit but have always been an 8/10 size person. It's true they could vary their model sizes a little but I resent the implication made here that
Few real Boden customers are that size, or are only skinny rich women so not really you know, actual humans. And anyway, thin people are all so body confident and perfect they don't dress like this. It's just nonsense.
And if you are a forty year old mother of 3 size 8 then you have saggy boobs and a rotten wrinkly tummy like most people so are unlikely to dress in skintight clothes.

Rainbunny · 11/01/2018 21:22

Puddle - "
I am a size 10, and 5ft 2. But I have H cup breasts. I never see any models with large breasts modelling clothes, unless they are specifically plus-sized brands. I am not plus sized. I am slim."

Me too! I'm a size 8, 5'3" and have 32E which look even bigger than they really are because I'm on the short side. It's frustrating trying to find flattering tops and dresses .

juddyrockingcloggs · 11/01/2018 21:25

I'm a size 16-18 and buy a lot of Boden clothing for both myself and my son.

I feel they fit well and look good.

The model you're referring to looks a perfectly healthy size and happens to look good in the outfit she is modelling however what I would like to see more of with Boden is a wide variety of different models of differing sizes, not just the slimmer models. We all come in different shapes and sizes and their models should reflect that especially with their recent 'mums' marketing campaign.

g1itterati · 11/01/2018 21:28

She looks perfectly normal to me - harldly a waif or gaunt Confused

wellhonestly · 11/01/2018 21:32

Ooh, I have written to Boden in the past about very slim models (but not that particular model).

As a pp says, catalogue models are often soooo slim I just can't imagine what the dress would look like on me (size 14 with fairly upfront boobs). It puts me off buying.

Kitsharrington · 11/01/2018 21:33

Wow YABVVVU.

C0untDucku1a · 11/01/2018 21:38

Ffs obesity has become so normal, slim women need complaining about?! Hmm

PuddleOfInk · 11/01/2018 21:38

I really don't understand why there is so much flat out refusal on this thread to see that models should not only represent one body shape (that is, tall and thin).

It's got nothing to do with glorifying obesity or losing sight of what a normal healthy weight is. A size 12 is perfectly normal and healthy. For example.

DecoysBitch · 11/01/2018 21:50

What CountDuck said.

ThisLittleKitty · 11/01/2018 21:53

I don't think obesity is seen as normal at all.
