Just that really... I've made a complaint about this image. It was served to me as a Facebook advert and it just really got to me.

@WhoDoDatLikeDat

The bigger issues is that fugly fanny coloured dress for £98. Who'd pay nearly £100 to look like a dildo?

RedDogsBeg · 11/01/2018 17:56

That dress doesn't have a 'massive A-line skirt' and quite frankly if it did it would highlight a large bottom rather than conceal it.

MarshaBradyo · 11/01/2018 18:06

It’s not flattering and even the models don’t look that great

speakout · 11/01/2018 18:08

She looks fine to me.

We must be careful not to normalise obesity

PuddleOfInk · 11/01/2018 18:11

We must be careful not to normalise obesity

Yes, that's the next logical step up from this model isn't it 🙄

Tanaqui · 11/01/2018 18:13

Is it the one in front of the black door where she looks thin? I think it is just the angle of the photo.

I wish they took a few “real” people and showed which clothes suited them- eg, “this is Tanaqui, she is 5’4 and 63kg, has no waist and short legs, and here she is wearing the mumsnet skirt and AIBU top”.

I also remember the “real” people they used to use, and the little interviews by each pic! I do find the pictures a bit more boring now.

speakout · 11/01/2018 18:14

PuddleOfInk not what I suggested.

I think it's sad that some of us view this model as too thin.

Many of us are now wearing "fat glasses".

rcit · 11/01/2018 18:16

Depends which model. 2 models are modelling the same pink dress. The model with darker skin and hair looks fine and most of the pics are of her. However one pic (a big pic, possibly the main one) is of a slightly lighter skinned model with brown hair and a navy bag with tan strap and that model has been the victim of dodgy photoshop on her arm (the arm that’s over the bag).

hibbledibble · 11/01/2018 18:19

Yabu. The model looks like she is a normal, healthy weight.

Ita somewhat disconcerting that a healthy weight is now considered too slim by some, due to the obesity epidemic.

MrsPear · 11/01/2018 18:27

Yet another example of people seeing fat as normal. It is not.

Viviene · 11/01/2018 18:31

I think there is a general problem with obesity in the U.K. where size 16 is average dress size for a woman, I think. So we see slimmer people as too thin whereas in reality, they are just healthy weight.

And I write this as a very much overweight 5'6 size 14 :-)

And I live the U.K. I live in a country of stick people and have to import all my clothes.

BuckysRoboticArm · 11/01/2018 18:33

These models are absolutely fine.

In fact they look twice the weight of models I see on catwalk pictures. I'm surprised you've targeted the Boden site for this discussion.

Your perception of what is normal is skewed if you think these women are underweight.

Also my wrists and forearms are tiny, as are my ankles and calves. I carry my weight on my upper thighs/hips and chest, I'm a healthy size 8-10. I guess my body is out of proportion? People must think I've been photoshopped as I walk down the street Confused

FluffyWuffy100 · 11/01/2018 18:41

They look nice. Not too thin at all really.

KiaOraAura · 11/01/2018 18:41

She just looks very tall and slim and normal to me shrugs shoulders

DS's partner is a model. She is a very similar build, long slender arms and legs. She has a normal appetite, is fit and healthy. It makes me sad to think that someone like the OP might complain about her body.

WatchTheFoxes · 11/01/2018 18:44

I'm not asking for H cup boobs on a model but would be nice to see a larger breasted one who wasn't also a size 16.

That’s because having natural larger cup sizes like Hs on a slim frame is very rare, so it wouldn’t appeal to sell to hardly anyone.

I think it’s shocking that the model is thought too thin, it shows you how warped the view of weight is if they view that model as too thin when she is a perfectly healthy weight.

Do you really think Boden will want to pay for multiple models in all different shapes and sizes to model each outfit? Even then there would be limited variety of sizes, and someone’s size would be “left out”. I view a slim model as more neutral as it shows the garment at the best it can be, as it were.

Also agree with pp I’ve never seen someone aged 30 wearing Boden!

Backingvocals · 11/01/2018 18:44

If people can't see the photoshop problems in these images then we also have a normalising of photoshop.

I agree the first photo didn't strike me particularly but the photoshopping in the other photos is glaring. No matter how tiny your own wrists...And also these women are closer to 6ft than 5. They are going to be rangy with long bones including their hands.

I think in France (??) they introduced a rule that the non-photoshopped image should also be made accessible so that people could be aware. I think it's a very good idea.

scrabbler3 · 11/01/2018 18:44

I think she looks really lovely. I am 5'7" tall, a size 14, and overweight. I'm envious of her but I need to eat less and walk more, not complain to Boden.

endofacentury · 11/01/2018 18:46

£98 for that granny dress! Horrible .. and no she doesn't look too thin, just slim

Placeboooooooo · 11/01/2018 18:49

She looks perfectly healthy to me, I’ve seen much thinner.

The dress is fucking hideous though!

Sheeeesh · 11/01/2018 18:50

Both models look normal. Like all the Boden models in the catalogue.

Whichschool2020 · 11/01/2018 18:53

YABU. She looks slim but healthy. We have got so used to seeing overweight as normal.

PuddleOfInk · 11/01/2018 18:59

That’s because having natural larger cup sizes like Hs on a slim frame is very rare, so it wouldn’t appeal to sell to hardly anyone.

It definitely isn't, I come across it all the time.

festivedinosaur · 11/01/2018 19:04

I think some of the angles in the photos give the appearance she is thinner than she is.
It's also a very flattering dress.

She's not by any means under weight.
She's still got a healthy looking face and boobs and there aren't any bony bits on show

zeebeee · 11/01/2018 19:10

Really? She looks slim but totally fine - healthy. Can't believe you wrote a complaint about that! Clearly your idea of normal and healthy has got a bit warped somewhere if you think that is too thin.

foxyloxy78 · 11/01/2018 19:14

Pretty standard model tbh
