To think you probably can't get pregnant this way

Hi all, very long time lurker, first time poster because something is really playing on my mind.

Normally very very careful with contraception, but I'm worried because of what happened a week ago.

Me and DP were messing around and the long and short of it is he "pleasured me digitally" (snort) with "spermy fingers". God sorry for the TMI.

I checked the app i use to track my period and that was apparently in my fertile window.

Can you put my mind at rest - its unlikely for that to cause pregnancy, right? But how unlikely? Like super unlikely or just unlikely?

@MrsMaxwell
Correct, definitely too late for MAP, I will just have to wait and see.

Apileofballyhoo Which terrible parent told you that?!

GlitterUnicornsAndAllThatJazz · 09/01/2018 19:49

@Stitchit
Yes that's very true re sperm donors and plastic cup, I hadn't thought of that.

However:
"But it only takes one out of a possible 400 million available spermies to make an embryo. How likely is it that your vagina is an insurmountable journey for all of those 400 million swimmers, whose sole purpose in existence is to be the olympic champion of sperm?"

Well in that case, you're saying the fact that the sperm wasn't pushed very far up should make no difference to likelihood of pregnancy, compared to sperm ejaculated directly inside?

In that case, why are people saying its unlikely (although possible)?

Exactly a week ago? Coil works up to 5 days after apparently

MrsMaxwell · 09/01/2018 19:52

Good luck getting an emergency coil fitted Confused

OlennasWimple · 09/01/2018 19:53

Why would it not be possible? Unless you know that DH has problems with the mobility of his sperm or you have other fertility issues?

Bythebeach · 09/01/2018 19:54

For all those who try for ages, there are loads that don’t (see stitchit up thread..).
I’ve had unprotected sex 5 times in or near fertile window in my life.....took MAP twice.....have 3 kids. Recent conversation with my mum revealed she and all five of her sisters also all conceived at the drop of hat (pants!!). Perhaps quiz your female relatives!!Blush

GlitterUnicornsAndAllThatJazz · 09/01/2018 19:57

@OlennasWimple
I just thought sperm needed to be properly projected right up there and that even then it was a bit of a battle for them to fertilise so assumed whilst possible it would be pretty unlikely.

Bythebeach · 09/01/2018 19:57

But seriously, hope it works out okay for you. Would pregnancy be a real disaster?

GlitterUnicornsAndAllThatJazz · 09/01/2018 19:58

@TestingTestingWonTooFree
No, I'm past 5 days. But thank you, I didn't know you could do that

jaseyraex · 09/01/2018 20:00

Not everyone tries for ages OP. It depends how fertile you are I guess. Me and DH decided beginning of December to TTC, had sex twice in fertile window, and here I am 4ish weeks pregnant Grin

Sperm are persistent little buggers. I'd say it's a fair possibility you could be pregnant. Hope you get whichever outcome you're hoping for.

@Bythebeach
Thanks! I never particularly wanted children as part of my master plan, but neither would it bring my world crashing down if you get me.
Guess we'll see what happens. I'll update you because its nice to satisfy your curiosity and see what happens to posters, even if this is one of the most boring scenarios on AIBU 😂

See you back here in a fortnight 😉

Good luck Op!

steff13 · 09/01/2018 20:09

even then it was a bit of a battle for them to fertilise

The continuation of our species depends upon the ability to procreate. That vaginal area is designed to make fertilization easier, isn't it?

Makkapakkasbestfriend · 09/01/2018 20:21

Possible for sure. Hope you get the result you want

GlitterUnicornsAndAllThatJazz · 09/01/2018 20:23

@Stitchit
Yep. I get you. It was a stupid move alright.

I had an emergency coil fitted - relatively easily. Nice NHS lady found a walk in FP clinic for me that evening. I did however get pregnant while using condoms and I would never ever let ejaculate anywhere near my vag. Hope you get the outcome you want!

ExoticShorthair · 09/01/2018 20:25

You need to keep us updated Grin

SimonBridges · 09/01/2018 20:25

Yup.
Happened to my friend as a teen.

GlitterUnicornsAndAllThatJazz · 09/01/2018 20:26

@steff13
I thought the vaginal area was a tricky obstacle course to navigate, but now I'm properly reading up on the subject it seems as if it's only designed to be tricky so that the sperm that actually makes it is the one with the rock hard abs and high-paying job (in sperm land). I guess it's designed to ensure only the most resilient genes are passed on.

Bobbiepin · 09/01/2018 20:26

I love a thread like this. Good luck OP!

GlitterUnicornsAndAllThatJazz · 09/01/2018 20:27

@TeddyBee
WTF? You got pregnant with condoms having never allowed sperm near your vag? How does that work???!

OP posts:
shhhfastasleep · 09/01/2018 20:29

The "globs " don't need to go far up to get to work.
