To ask what car you have and whether you like it?

Following on from my previous thread about haggling (which I'm utterly rubbish at - point proven today upon purchase of car), what car do you have, what year is it, and do you like it?

I had absolutely no interest in cars until about three years ago, and now I love reading about them, finding out what's reliable, what's good value, what's fun to drive, etc.

Please indulge me on a quiet Saturday eve Smile

Vw Passat - third one I’ve owned had 2 jettas before but needed more leg room as DC got older
DP has a vw golf and a Saab
DD has a vw polo
DS has a vw golf

JaceLancs · 06/01/2018 22:51

Forgot to say it’s done 230,000 miles and still runs like a dream

Twalva · 06/01/2018 23:01

Audi Q3 Auto. It’s a fabulous car. Love it

littlebunnyhophophop · 06/01/2018 23:01

Nissan qashqai got it brand new in September it's an absolute dream Grin

ZenNudist · 06/01/2018 23:39

New BMW 2 series gran tourer sport. Its a 7 seater but quite compact. Only got 2 dc but its proving very useful to fit more people in.

Its an automatic which im loving. Its very nippy not that im arsed about that as i just drive round town, still nice its got a bit of oomph. Heated leather seats also a winner.

Loved my old passat and think theyre great cars but not sure id go back to one as it didnt seem to move at lights etc.

Am surprised no one on this thread got one as its a really good mum car!!

Northernmum12 · 06/01/2018 23:40

Toyota Rav 4. Comfortable, plenty of room for the dogs, prams, car seats etc. Has some serious oomph and handles the road really well and fuel economy is great. The automatic wipers are a bit unpredictable but I absolutely love it, especially after having a god awful Vauxhall Insignia.

DH has a Renault Megane, our second one and apart from the electric windows tending to die they are the cars that just keep on giving

hollowtree · 06/01/2018 23:42

Pergeot 108, 5 door 4 seats, 2015. A squeeze with the car seat and pram but we manage! I love that car. She's called Penelope because she's purple.

TricksyLiesmith · 06/01/2018 23:44

Discovery sport - which I love ❤️

Awks · 06/01/2018 23:52

Citroen c4. Bought it in a rush as I had a new job and had to hand back my beloved Skoda Fabia company car.

I hate the Citroen, it's noisy, has poor visibility, nothing is in the tight place, none of the storage bits are remotely useful and it's rubbish on fuel. Saying that, it's never gone wrong and I abuse the poor car relentlessly because I don't like it.

SexandDrugsandaNiceCuppa · 06/01/2018 23:54

Ford Ka, (2012). Nicknamed Poppy by DD. Absolute little star of a car. Cheap to buy, tax, insure and run. Never had a moment's trouble with her, only had to replace a couple of tyres in 3.5 years. Unfortunately she's getting traded in when the PCP ends, (May), as we need something bigger for camping - we'll probably get a Kuga. I will miss Poppy though, hope she goes to a good home!
DH has a 1999 MGF which he adores. It's a pain in the arse, constantly getting things wrong with it, but he loves it.

Frillyhorseyknickers · 06/01/2018 23:59

Range Rover Sport autograph. Love love love it, but absolutely not worth the money I paid for it, and it is identical to the disco/disco sport interior, with an extra £20k price tag. I’m hoping to swap in the next year and I’ll go for jag f pace sport.

Giggorata · 07/01/2018 00:01

Small brightly coloured van, which is perfect for my needs, comfortably taking dogs, drums, stuff and occasionally, me camping. Fuel economy and speed excellent.
The only issue is giving more than one person a lift. I miss the days when people used to pile into the back, but that is dangerous, I know, and no longer legal.

AhhhhThatsBass · 07/01/2018 00:02

My DH loves cars so we have two (despite being utterly pointless where I live). Range Rover Sport which I love (like being up high) and Porsche Carrera 911 which I hate (mainly DH’s), would sell it without another thought. Hate being that low down, getting into it takes some skill.

Actually on reflection although I love my car I’d probably not bother with it if it were up to me; they get driven about once a week. I’d stick with public transport and save a fortune, road tax alone on each one is £535.

blaaake · 07/01/2018 00:07

I've got an Audi Q7 and it's, well, alright. It feels nice and I feel safe in it, but I just don't love it. I think I'll go back to a Range Rover for my next one, or a Porsche Cayenne. The neighbours must think we're drug dealers

teenybean · 07/01/2018 00:16

We have a 67plate vw tiguan, which is good, & practical, I've also got a 1967 vw beetle, slightly less practical, but oh so cool & I love it! 😊

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 07/01/2018 00:19

Freelander 2 2010. Love it. Nice to drive, nice high up position, never let me down and not bad on the fuel consumption. Only thing I don’t like is the boot, it’s a bit on the small side. Am coveting the Disco Sport so nice to see people think it’s great.

JakeBallardswife · 07/01/2018 00:30

I’ve got a mini , 66 plate. I utterly love it!

ChristinaParsons · 07/01/2018 00:51

Loving that every Subaru owner brings them out in the bad weather. Yep that’s us driving like nothing has happened while you are doing 30mph on the motorway.

MotherofaSurvivor · 07/01/2018 00:54

66 Plate Jeep Renegade Auto.

Not overly impressed but don't hate it. Looks good at front but not at back in my opinion. Fairly big boot. In car entertainment is ok.

Mine isn't 4x4 as I just needed a vehicle that was higher up so 4x4 wasn't necessary.

Has little Jeep images hidden all over the car nodding to it's heritage. It's fairly solid and nippy.

Not the worst car I've ever had though, that's for sure! (That was a Vauxhall!)

Got my eye on the new VW T-ROC....'

MotherofaSurvivor · 07/01/2018 00:57

Jessie Jeep the Renegade

ChristinaParsons · 07/01/2018 00:57

I own a horse lorry which is worth more than 20 Porsche’s. I have to stand up to put it in reverse and it takes up 4 spaces in the supermarket car park. Have I won’? Cause this seems to have become a pissing contest

NotMeNoNo · 07/01/2018 00:58

follybodger how is your Venga for legroom. I am thinking of getting one as our 2nd car but we will need to all fit in it on occasions. DH is well over 6ft and teenage DS's heading the same way.

MrsFamily · 07/01/2018 01:24

I have a ford galaxy - old, high mileage and a real workhorse. Beginning to see its age now but it's been a great car with 4 DC,all in car seats - and drives like a car. We tried out the XC90 and Land Rover Discovery when buying it and both felt like aircraft carriers to drive.

Also have a Skoda superb which is fantastic so we will be looking at the kodiaq when the time comes to replace the galaxy. Had an Audi until 2 years ago and there's no difference at all.

I would love a Subaru - I grew up in the sticks and all the farmers had them - but they don't do a 7-seater. Although DH has just bought an old Suzuki jimny which is fab - very bouncy, slightly like driving a roller skate but not one for long journeys - so maybe it's one for the future.

StillMedusa · 07/01/2018 01:37

DH has a Peugeot 308 SW estate diesel, which boring as it sounds, is very comfy and the fuel economy is incredible... plus we can fit our camping gear in:)

I on the other hand have one of few remaining Smart Roadsters Finale editions...(07 plate as they stopped making them) a teeny weeny sports car with a tiny turbo engine, absolutely no space, and I have to fold my 6 footer youngest to get him in it Grin
It is SO much fun to drive... like slinging a go kart down the motorway, electric roof down and off we go. Utterly impractical and it may have to go soon as I have knackered discs in my back and find it hard to get out! My next car will be a mini cooper...

FrivolouslyFancifulFannie · 07/01/2018 01:50

7yr old Renault Megane, bought it as it had a good NCAP safety rating, feels very safe and sturdy but its really crap on petrol.
