Frustrated with the multiple cars my neighbour has! (Title edited by MNHQ)

I am absolutely raging!

We live on a lovely little street which just so happens to be a dead end, we live right at the bottom of the street and there’s houses either side, the law of the land forever and a day has been the left hand side of the road is left clear whilst vehicles park on the right hand side of the road (outside their houses!).

A new family moved into a house half way down the street on the right hand side, and own 9 vehicles - yes that’s right 9 vehicles for just him and his wife!!

Now, this is where the problem starts...next to my property is a small area of unused land, where these lovely folk seem to park 4/5 of their 9 vehicles causing myself and OH not to be able to get our cars onto our drive as they park adjacent to our driveway.

We’ve tried various different ways to resolve the problem, we’ve spoken to them (they didn’t take a blind bit of notice!), I phoned the police as 2/4 vehicles are actually declared SORN so shouldn’t be there but as the land is owned by LA it’s not deemed as being a public highway so there was nothing they could do, I’ve phoned DVLA & reported it that way, I’ve spoken to the LA that own the land to see if they have permission to be parking the SORN vehicles on their land and to be honest I don’t seem to be getting anywhere fast!

Besides taking the matter into our own hands I really don’t know what else we can do? I’m so fed up! I’m beginning to hate living here & to be honest I just want to be able to put our vehicles on our double driveway - surely that’s not too much to ask?

Sorry for such a long whinge post but it’s just really getting me down! Please please please let me know if you have ANY suggestions as to how I can rectify this problem! I’m at the end of my tether!

I'd pursue again with the LA re the SORN vehicles. Are you in a position to buy this land?

MrsA2015 · 06/01/2018 09:34

Ok so if you think resorting to terrorist tactics will sort it then I don’t think you’ll get very far.

Can’t you put traffic cones up to block them parking outside of your drive, or plant pot than you’ll be able to move ? Yes you shouldn’t have to but sometimes that’s the way things are.

Divaroses26 · 06/01/2018 09:34

Oh good thinking! I wonder if I could buy the land, I should imagine we are in a position to buy it depending on price of course!

Mrs A - the Petrol bomb comment was said in Jest, as you can no doubt see I’ve tried to resolve the issue we are experiencing in a suitable manner but we are at a loss!

Well, clearly YABU because we need a diagram.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/01/2018 09:36

If the land is of no real use it tends not to be terribly expensive

AliPfefferman · 06/01/2018 09:37

I can’t believe it’s been 5 minutes and nobody has requested a diagram or made the most obvious suggestion: penguin bollards.

Divaroses26 · 06/01/2018 09:37

Also, traffic cones would be difficult as 2/4 vehicles NEVER move (as they are SORN!) so I wouldn’t be able to position cones suitably to avoid the problem.

Cross-posted with MsJaneAusten Grin

Divaroses26 · 06/01/2018 09:37

Shall I go one better than a diagram and give you a photo? If you tell me how I’ll do it!

OP posts:
Divaroses26 · 06/01/2018 09:38

Sleeping - I guess I probably won’t be able to afford the land in that case 😂😂

Efferlunt · 06/01/2018 09:38

How does it stop you using your drive? We need a diagram!

Cataline · 06/01/2018 09:38

A photo would be excellent!

Divaroses26 · 06/01/2018 09:39

Give me a moment to take a pic & remove the number plates from the image - won’t be long!

Oooh yes. A photo. Are you on a mobile? If so, can you see the paper clip just below the comment box? Click there and you can add photo or diagram.

ForalltheSaints · 06/01/2018 09:39

Any chance you think they may drink and drive or have drugs on the premises? Police might act a lot quicker then.

Divaroses26 · 06/01/2018 09:41

I have the pic, just going to add my own doodles to it so you can understand better - hope that’s ok x

Don’t waste the police’s time with false reporting.

Bluedoglead · 06/01/2018 09:43

Petrol bombing is not funny. Please don’t jest about it again.

Saz1995 · 06/01/2018 09:43

Sorn cars cannot be on public road they can only be on private land or in your garage/ property.

Divaroses26 · 06/01/2018 09:44

Saz - it is private land as owned by LA/HA.

Ok in this image you can just catch my driveway, and 4 of the 9 Cars we have the issue with. But not only do they park there; they also park where I’m about to show you in my next image!

metro.co.uk/2017/12/14/third-person-charged-murder-house-fire-kills-four-children-7158526/ That better report - 4 children died.

Please don’t joke about petrol bombs.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 06/01/2018 09:46

Did you ask the people if they are planning on keeping the cars there long term? You might find they will be gone soon anyway, most people don't keep random unused cars for long as they just loose value.

Failing that is there a way the cars can be parked in the land that will allow you to access your drive? You can work this out then visit your neighbours with a diagram, they might be willing to move the cars a bit.
