Frustrated with the multiple cars my neighbour has! (Title edited by MNHQ)

I am absolutely raging!

We live on a lovely little street which just so happens to be a dead end, we live right at the bottom of the street and there’s houses either side, the law of the land forever and a day has been the left hand side of the road is left clear whilst vehicles park on the right hand side of the road (outside their houses!).

A new family moved into a house half way down the street on the right hand side, and own 9 vehicles - yes that’s right 9 vehicles for just him and his wife!!

Now, this is where the problem starts...next to my property is a small area of unused land, where these lovely folk seem to park 4/5 of their 9 vehicles causing myself and OH not to be able to get our cars onto our drive as they park adjacent to our driveway.

We’ve tried various different ways to resolve the problem, we’ve spoken to them (they didn’t take a blind bit of notice!), I phoned the police as 2/4 vehicles are actually declared SORN so shouldn’t be there but as the land is owned by LA it’s not deemed as being a public highway so there was nothing they could do, I’ve phoned DVLA & reported it that way, I’ve spoken to the LA that own the land to see if they have permission to be parking the SORN vehicles on their land and to be honest I don’t seem to be getting anywhere fast!

Besides taking the matter into our own hands I really don’t know what else we can do? I’m so fed up! I’m beginning to hate living here & to be honest I just want to be able to put our vehicles on our double driveway - surely that’s not too much to ask?

Sorry for such a long whinge post but it’s just really getting me down! Please please please let me know if you have ANY suggestions as to how I can rectify this problem! I’m at the end of my tether!

Their Vehicles also park along this verge - making it often impossible for me to get on the drive.

@Bluedoglead please step away from the thread if it's upsetting you. It was clearly in jest. You can use the hide function if you like.

Divaroses26 · 06/01/2018 09:48

Well, when I asked how long the vehicles would be there he just grunted at me, however, the vehicles have now been there for 9months. So that leaves a lot to the imagination, perhaps they will be ther forever and a day. Who knows?

I think I need a diagram as well OP. Wink

BashStreetKid · 06/01/2018 09:49

Any idea why they have so many cars? If they're trading you could probably report that to the council as presumably it would be a breach of the planning permission.

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 06/01/2018 09:50

I wonder if it's my family friend who has moved in... He's very nice but runs a car retrieval business and takes cars to scrap, therefore wherever he lives tends to resemble a mini scrap yard!! If they're preventing you from accessing your driveway can't 111 do anything? Or make friends with someone who has a tow truck and move the sorn cars onto a public road Wink

ToadOfSadness · 06/01/2018 09:50

Could they be car dealers, maybe running a business without planning permission?

Divaroses26 · 06/01/2018 09:51

Well, I do wonder if they are operating a business, as they also own the mini bus, but I mean who can run a business with SORN vehicles not moving?

I did tell the council I thought that may be the case in the hope they would investigate, I also explained that sometimes children frequent the area and I’m concerned that one day they may set alight to the vehicles causing a whole world of damage to the vehicles and everything else around them.

Are the ones parked on the verge SORN as well? Is the road private? Could you get some big rocks and put them on the grass verge (that's what people round here do, they also paint them white for some reason)

Divaroses26 · 06/01/2018 09:52

Tried 101 and was told as the vehicles aren’t on a public highway there is nothing they can do - shocking eh?

NINE cars??? The couple who live opposite my PILs have got 6 cars between the two of them, I thought that was some sort of record!!

lookingforthecorkscrew · 06/01/2018 09:52

Why on earth do they have so many cars? They’re not even particularly swanky cars!

Divaroses26 · 06/01/2018 09:53

The ones parked on the verge fluctuate but that’s a very good idea whilst the verge is unoccupied perhaps I could arrange for boulder type things to be placed there.

For heaven's sake. OP is clearly joking about petrol bomb. 🙄

rothbury · 06/01/2018 09:53

I like your thinking OP - petrol bomb the cars and blame it on the local kiddies - Wink

I lived in a cul de sac once - never again.

FluffyWhiteTowels · 06/01/2018 09:53

Buy the land if you can

Divaroses26 · 06/01/2018 09:53

Yes, 9!! No wonder half are SORN, who in the the right mind could afford the upkeep of 9 cars when they don’t even use them!

OP posts:
Tour · 06/01/2018 09:55

I can see why you wouldn’t want the cars there but can’t see how a car parked on a verge stops you getting on your drive

Are some of the houses owned by the LA. I’m surprised they haven’t done anything about it.

Tour · 06/01/2018 09:56

Is there a local neighbours association or similar?

Divaroses26 · 06/01/2018 09:56

I’m going to enquire about buying that little patch!

For those who have the issue with my Petrol bomb comment please do not think I would ever do that and intentionally endanger lives - I would not! It was said as a last resort kinda comment as nothing else has worked so far!

Take photographic evidence, keep a diary and call Citizens Advice.

Divaroses26 · 06/01/2018 09:57

Some are yes, but, not his or mine.

My pic isn’t great in reflecting how narrow the road outside my property is, hence the reason you prob can’t fully appreciate the problem x

OP posts:
Divaroses26 · 06/01/2018 09:58

No local neighbours association- however I know everyone is sucked off with the cars, but as it only affects our driveway we seem to be the only ones complaining!

Bluedoglead · 06/01/2018 09:58

Could you ask Mnhq to amend the title please? I find the title triggering and upsetting

Antigonads · 06/01/2018 09:58

I think a diagram is needed as I can't understand how they are preventing access to your drive.
