Do you judge men who've changed their name?

As in, upon marriage to their wives (or husbands I suppose!).
Dh changed his name upon marriage (to my last name) he had his own reasons for doing it but I wouldn't marry a man willing to do it anyway.
Aibu to wonder, Do you judge men that do this/think it's unreasonable? If so, why?

I don't judge anyone willing or not willing to change their name. Male or female. It's their choice.

Well, I think in your case, the odds may well be against you, Trills. Which is kind of the point: yes, statistically speaking something may well be the most likely, but that doesn't mean you can assume it applies to any given individual situation. As others have pointed out, social pressure on women is just one of many pressures that may be affecting any one individual. Others may include racism/xenophobia, family circumstances (e.g. adoption), social status/aspirations etc etc. We are never just women: we are women in a social setting.

I’ve seen much more judging of women on these threads for changing their names than for any other choices.

I don’t think anybody except for a small minority of jerks cares what women or men do about their own names. Why judge anyone about how they choose to do their names?

If a man takes the woman’s name, so what? I truly don’t think anybody loses sleep over it. Same if the woman takes the man’s or both keep their names, or double barrel, or keep your own name and add the spouse’s to it like I did. Perfect for me. It’s nobody else’s business whatever people choose to do, it’s up to them period.

It's not common but uncertain wouldn't judge someone for doing so, in this day and age it's something I imagine we will see more of. I think fair play it's nobody else's business!

Gosh. I didn't know this was a thing to judge. I couldn't care less. And I'm surprised anyone cares.
