Indeterminate sentences were abolished in 2012. Because of over crowding, the system has been looking to release who they could. Since 2016 the Will has been there to release all offenders on indeterminate sentences. Some concerns are the poor MH/suicide rate of those serving Indeterminate Sentences. It wasn't some masterminded trickery on TB part.
I agree that Rape is treated as something Girls/Women just have to learn to live with.

Life Sentences are around 16 years and we serve half the sentencend, so someone getting life, generally serves around eight years.
I like the Chinese system of sentences done in years. So a two hundred year sentence with possible parole after eighty years.
There have been groups calling for benefit fraudsters, shoplifters etc to not get custodial sentences. But generally Domestic Abusers, sex offenders, including those who have child abuse images are spared Prison.
