Would I be very unreasonable to buy myself a Jo Malone candle? A few years ago my niece gave me one for Christmas and I lit it whenever I needed to cheer myself up. However I am in my seventies, on a pension and have to budget for treats and my dh thinks that any old scented candle would do. I really loved that JM candle though.
I have promised not to use savings but it is my birthday in March and I think I can save £50 by then. WIBU?

Thank you. I never knew!

thegreylady · 02/01/2018 15:01

Thanks to two lovely mnetters I have just ordered the candle from John Lewis. It will take about a week and I will post a picture when it arrives. I honestly never imagined this would happen.

Enjoy using it, I have the pomegranate noir perfume and love it

NickMyLipple · 10/01/2018 18:00

Oh wonderful news! Enjoy it!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 10/01/2018 18:03

Enjoy it! Sometimes you just really need something luxurious!!

SantaBaby1 · 10/01/2018 18:12

A little tip - you can get them at duty free at a lot of airports if you know anyone who is flying anytime soon. DH and I have got into an expensive habit of buying one whenever we travel ... which is a lot! But they do last forever and the imitations are just that - poor imitations!

OhBergine · 10/01/2018 18:17

@thegreylady I have a barely used Pomegranate Noir candle as I've gone off the smell (pregnant). PM me your address and you can have it!

OhBergine · 10/01/2018 18:19

Whoops, should have RTFT. Glad you got your candle!

thegreylady · 10/01/2018 18:20

Thank you Oh Bergine I have the new one now. You might find you go back onto the smell once your baby is born. It is a lovely offer though x

VQ1970 · 10/01/2018 18:26

Glad you bought it OP.

I want a JM candle now. My aid,t step daughter had some for Christmas and they smelled amazing. I'm going to have a look at the JM website Smile

VQ1970 · 10/01/2018 18:27

*adult stepdaughter!

LyraPotter · 10/01/2018 18:36

Honey, buy yourself the candle! If you can save up the money for it there is nothing at all wrong with buying yourself a lovely treat. You don't need to justify it - it's a lovely thing to have and you deserve to be treated now and then.

LyraPotter · 10/01/2018 18:37

Oh, I should have read the whole thread! So glad you bought it. Enjoy!

CatchIt · 10/01/2018 18:41

I got given a Jo Malone candle once. It was a treasured thing and then you know what happened to it? ‘D’bloodyH used it to light the fire! He lit the fire using my precious Jo Malone candle. The fire.

To say I was very upset is an epic understatement. What’s more, he refused to buy me a new one as they were so expensive. No shit. That’s why I was so pissed off!!

misscheery · 10/01/2018 18:44

Hi, Op! Enjoy your candle! ❤️

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 10/01/2018 18:50

What a lovely thread. Hope you enjoy your candle !

AmberNectarine · 10/01/2018 20:07

I'm delighted to see you got it. I know they're extravagant but I love really luxurious candles. Currently rotating a Diptyque and a True Grace with my bath.

My lovely little DS got me some JM handwash for Christmas (I already have a raft of the perfume and bath products), which is something I'd never treat myself to, because, well, it's handwash, but he knows I love the scent.

Life is for living and it's obvious you'll really, really enjoy that candle!

glueandstick · 10/01/2018 20:09

Just having a little lol because my husband is ranting about me buying one of those automatic Dettol soap dispensers so the boys don't make a huge mess with the pump ones. Yes I know it's an extravagance - I just bloody wanted it, and I work, so I bought it. Grin

Ellisandra · 10/01/2018 20:15

I like your husband Grin

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 10/01/2018 20:17

londonista make sure the sensor doesn’t get dirty otherwise it continuously pours out!

londonista · 10/01/2018 20:17
