I craved the Disney Castle but I wanted the original Princess version not the Mickey Mouse one and it’s no longer available. (Except for silly money on eBay).

There's a reason my ds isn't allowed to put grow his lego!
We currently have the lego train going around the bottom of our xmas tree with the artic set, train station and Santa's workshop that ds created. It has mini presents being produced and transported!

Respect to you lego people. I understand the joy of building things but get my kicks splurging on expensive yarn and crocheting.

Spend that bonus on Lego op!

Bought the detectives office!!! Whoop! I love how many Lego fans we’ve stumbled across!!

I got DS the detectives office, last Christmas. This year he's getting the Parisian Restaurant. I seriously considered The Death Star as I wanted him to have his dream set but he kept going on about the PR, so he's getting that. He has no clue either as I have been laying it on thick about No Big Presents this year so we can go on holiday next year.

MsGameandWatching · 23/12/2017 09:51

I've actually got an unopened Hogwarts Express Lego set...

Blonde0nBlonde · 23/12/2017 10:05

I’d love the hogworts exprsss! It looks epic

Taj Mahal looks amazing.

And the Disney Castle! OMG!

TakingtheLeap · 23/12/2017 10:35

Yes OP!! Great decision!

A few years ago I bought a secondhand LEGO Orthanc set, it was beautiful and so much fun to build. That's probably my biggest LEGO set but I have several a few others! Grin

I've been assuming sadly that my 16YO DD will "grow out of" Lego sometime soon, and this thread has given me hope.

I don't share the obsession but I do like arranging the characters in the Disney castle that DH spoilt her with last Christmas.

TunaStubbs · 23/12/2017 11:04

Lego Death Star was £299 at Smyths on Black Friday. I was gob smacked. Hardly ever see decent reductions on Star Wars (if not all) Lego.

Managed to drive into town and get one before they sold out. Joint Christmas present for DS and me. Many happy hours ahead.

SistersOfPercy · 23/12/2017 11:10

Now I've seen the Disney castle I might buy it for dd for her 21st next year. She'd cry I think as she cosplays princesses.

Rowgtfc72 · 23/12/2017 11:11

Somerville, dh is 37 and you should see the look of excitement on his face when he opens the box on Christmas morning and sees all the little packets of lego Xmas Grin

ijustwannadance · 23/12/2017 11:32

I'm getting lego for xmas too. Yay.

I bought the Lego Death Star for my husband a couple of years back. Who says you can't be an adult and still build lego? 🙂

AvoidingDM · 23/12/2017 12:54

Winter village train and station.

Lego isn't just for kids. I've ve got a cruising baby and no where to put my winter village it normally goes on the coffee table.Xmas Sad

I bought my dp the super star destroyer for £350 about 3 years ago and he sold it this year for £839 however the most recent star destroyer wasn't as detailed and long (his was nearly 2 friggin metres when built).
He used the money to buy some classic Lego sets from his childhood (pirate ship, castle) so he can build them with our ds when he's older. Love lego.

safariboot · 23/12/2017 13:24

Looks at Saturn V rocket and Destiny's Bounty ship

Not at all.

Lego seem to more large sets marketed at grownups than ever, especially in the Ideas, Creator Expert, and Star Wars UCS ranges.

Lego tends to hold it's value quite well too, you can sell it if you need to and get good money. Though I wouldn't count on big gains, I think the 'Lego investment' bubble is bursting.

Binkybix · 23/12/2017 13:28

This thread has opened a whole new, extensive world for me!!

Binkybix · 23/12/2017 13:28

Expensive!

SadieContrary · 23/12/2017 13:33

I'm desperate for my DD to be of Lego playing age cos then I'll be buying it guilt free

wasMissD · 23/12/2017 13:59

Do it!! I'm 33 and last year I had the Architecture New York set (much smaller but I love it!)
It's a bonus- spend it on something fun. And anything left you can use on house stuff if you wish to!
Lego is the best. Can't wait for my son to be old enough for it ha ha
