Still kick myself for not getting R2-D2 a few years back. It was £150, but is now double that. Lepin might be the way to go as it'll just be for display. I've got Wall-E who is brilliant. I've also got the original Beetle model, but falls apart a lot lol

ijustwannadance · 05/01/2018 14:21

I almost bought R2D2 when argos sold them off for around £80-90.

I'm not a Star Wars fan so left it. Regret it now too!

I will be saving my pennies for the giant Hogwarts set.

Why the fuck not Grin

5foot5 · 05/01/2018 17:37

My DH was 60 a few days ago.

Got him this for his birthday Lego Saturn V Rocket

He has built it already. You are never too old for Lego!

5foot5 · 05/01/2018 17:38

Sorry about link. Try this Lego Saturn V Rocket

Rowgtfc72 · 05/01/2018 18:12

5foot5, that's cool!
My dh loves the technical stuff and that's not a bad brick count for the price!

MistyMeena · 05/01/2018 22:59

Just read on a Lego FB group that there is soon to be a ship in a bottle. It's 'coming soon' in the new catalogue. Eek!

ijustwannadance · 06/01/2018 00:18

I think the ship in bottle was one of the lego ideas sets.

mirime · 06/01/2018 00:36

@ceeveebee Bricklink is dangerous. Just bought my DS Zane and Nya minifigs, despite the amount of Ninjago Lego and assorted merchandise he had for Christmas. I think he's after a full set of Zane's!

I'm eyeing up some of the classic space Lego for myself, Benny and his spaceship from the Lego Movie really reawakened my love for it.

Blonde0nBlonde · 06/01/2018 19:31

I’m going to just fill my Pinterest with Lego themes!

What did you all buy as a result of the thread?! My bank came today but I’m far away from it so won’t see it until tomorrow 😁

Lego ship in a bottle sounds amazing! I’m gonna be broke this year. Maybe we can postpone the wedding

Did you watch the Inside Lego at Christmas programme?

We still have all the Lego that we bought the dses when they were little - though I did lose the will to live, building Dumb, edore’s office, and had to be revived with a very large sherry by my mum! I think that was ds3’s present that year, and ds2 got the Hogwarts Express, and ds1 got two of the smaller HP sets, but I am not sure which. I had to do most of the building - and I did enjoy it, apart from the problem I had with Dumbledore’s office.

I did NOT want the dses to take the models apart to make other things.

MistyMeena · 06/01/2018 20:51

I saw that programme, was great! I also struggled a bit with Dumbledore's office, towards the top.
Daughter built the Knight Bus, might have to sneakily take apart so I can have a go 😀
She also recently built the winter toy shop and women of NASA, which is fab.

I need to brush up on my Harry Potter sets! It’s my friends 30th this year and I feel like she’d appreciate a Harry Potter Lego...as much as she’d appreciate any Lego I suppose 😂

OP posts:
Blonde0nBlonde · 08/01/2018 15:58

Unpacked my bank and it seems to have quite a few missing parts, but was under £40 so I think I’ll still get plenty of value out of it.

My friend wants a cushion for her new house instead of Lego *sigh

My secretary at work was saying today that her son was cleaning out his room and found his box of Lego and that she’d said he should sell it on since he’s too old for it now...I’m supposed to be a professional...how damaging would it be for me to bags first refusal on his bricks?! 😁

I've been holding off buying a set from LEGO because I've been waiting for this set to become available to be automatically added to my order:

brickset.com/sets/40290-1

It should be available at the end of this month.

By the way, if you're interested in LEGO, www.brickset.com is a useful site. It even has a chat forum attached. It's kind of like the Jedi, light side, when compared to the Sith, dark side, of www.brickpicker.com/.

Ooh look!

mirime · 08/01/2018 22:00

We ended up buying DS the Fire Mech from the Ninjago movie on the weekend. DH was very keen as he wanted to build it. Luckily DS was very keen as well Grin

I want the Temple of the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon, to go with Benny's spaceship, the TARDIS and Ecto1, miscellaneous Star Wars Lego and odds and ends of classic space Lego.

We may need a bigger house.

Blonde0nBlonde · 09/01/2018 11:38

The ship in a bottle looks epic!

I'm on the hunt for a TARDIS now.

Haven't been able to start my bank yet due to work, but hopefully tonight is the night!! Can't wait.

PizzaPower · 09/01/2018 16:23

Fingers crossed you get to start on the bank tonight.
I’ve just started on The Simpson’s House (Christmas present), having built Kwik E Mart (sp) last year.

On a separate note, has anyone bought or used a lighting kit? They seem really good but expensive. Shame they are third party and not manufactured by Lego.

Blonde0nBlonde · 09/01/2018 16:31

I haven't bought any of the kits, but I have an LED strip of lights that you can stick onto stuff, was about £5 from a DIY store. I had bought it for under unit lighting in the kitchen and had left over. Works ok, but if you look on youtube you can see some of the proper kits working.

Anyone want to share their lego storage tips? I have sorted by colour into clear freezer bags, but want to sort things into more specific groups now and store it better or at least more compactly someplace.

We have containers similar to this one for smaller parts. Have about 10 or 12 of them stacked up.

The larger bits are inside takeaway plastic containers stacked up in the box my DF made for my Lego when I was a child. We still have some that is unsorted as well.

ceeveebee · 09/01/2018 18:27

We have these for my DC although the boxes are a bit small for the more popular colours
