Buy the detectives office . And spend Christmas afternoon building it . It’s very therapeutic building Lego .

SistersOfPercy · 22/12/2017 12:01

Do it!!! Ours has gone on a life-size Gremlin 😂

Blonde0nBlonde · 22/12/2017 12:05

Wowzer! Just ordered myself the fishing store Grin That'll add to the Ninjago (or whatever) boat and various other models that I've already bought myself for Christmas!!

southkenmom · 22/12/2017 12:08

You can NEVER have enough LEGO!!! Being an adult means making your own rules!!!

If you're in London you should drop by BRICKLIVE at the Saatchi Gallery for some nonstop LEGO action Smile Smile

I want the carousel Blush

user1471450061 · 22/12/2017 12:12

Get the Xmas train set. I got it last year and it's fab

NotCornflakes · 22/12/2017 12:15

Do it! I love Lego. I'm planning to buy Assembly Square and the diner set they are bringing out in January. And as others have pointed out, it's a wise investment so it's practically the same as putting the money into your pension. Wink

I pointedly casually informed DH in November, that this had 20% off for Black Friday. I also packed our Lego VIP card in his bag whenever he set off for work. He arrived home late that evening, with his briefcase rattling suspiciously.

nocampinghere · 22/12/2017 12:23

would you go out and spend that amount on a weekend away?

if so, then buy the lego and have lego-fest weekend.

SistersOfPercy · 22/12/2017 12:24

@Blonde0nBlonde Stripe. We already have a life-size Gizmo as well as a few other life-size bits including E.T, but I had to have this guy.

If you love Lego go for it. OTOH would you feel guilty about not spending it on house stuff? Think about the amount of pleasure the Lego will give you against the responsibility of the domestic items. The Lego probably wins hands down.

TheresTheFlyingFuckIDontGive · 22/12/2017 12:36

We have the Yellow Submarine and the set of three birds. My 18m/o keeps pointing at them and we have to say, 'No, they're Daddy's'.

There's a site where you can rent Lego sets, called welovebricks.com.

PizzaPower · 22/12/2017 12:38

Get it, get it, get it, get it, get it!!! I love Lego as an adult.

I’m very lucky DW bought me Tower Bridge for my Birthday and I think I might be getting an other surprise set come Monday. If the money was unexpected and your have no massive debts to clear enjoy it.

Kewcumber · 22/12/2017 12:41

in the olden days when I used to get a bonus I used to spend 1/3rd on something I really wanted (lego in your case), 1/3rd on somehting I needed for the house (paint, flooring etc) and save 1/3rd.

Always well for me but discuss with your partner. It's a bit unsettling to buy something you thinl someone will like to discover they've just blown twice as much on something similar but better!

MistyMeena · 22/12/2017 12:42

Yep go for it! I've rediscovered Lego as an adult and buy myself a big set every year, can't wait to build the fishing store!

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 22/12/2017 12:53

Not unreasonable at all! I have several of the expert creator series, shall be getting the Diner when it is released in the New Year. I have always loved Lego and I know several other adults who build Lego for a hobby - it's for any age.

FlouncyDoves · 22/12/2017 12:55

Buy it. Make a pros and cons list:
Pro - I really want it
Con - ...

MerryChristmasOneandAll · 22/12/2017 13:21

Had to name change as this pic is very outing.
But this is what DS and I built under our Christmas Tree.

Instead of an advent calendar I bought DS(6) the Santa’s workshop and made it in to 24 parts.

He got the bucket wheel excavator for Christmas last year.

Lime19 · 22/12/2017 13:32

Get the lego. We have the Disney castle Xmas Smile worth every penny

Shoppingwithmother · 22/12/2017 13:34

Definitely NU!

I am getting the Ninjago City set for Christmas - I know as I ordered it myself! I am so excited as it looks amazing.

Also have the townhall, department store, pet shop and French restaurant on display.

I like that fishing shack though, and I’ve always hankered after a Death Star or Taj Mahal.....

froomeonthebroom · 22/12/2017 15:00

I have found my people

Blonde0nBlonde · 22/12/2017 16:00

You’re all terrible influences!!!

I haven’t ordered anything, but mostly because I had to work so the temptation is tamped down!!

That gremlin is insane!! I love it, and the Lego railway!! That’s amazing!
