30 years old and have got an unexpected bonus of £350...is it crazy to blow it on a big lego set?

It is I know...I just wanted a moment to dream
:( Adulting is hard.

DH and the DSs bought me the London Bus for my birthday in October. I had said that I would buy it for myself once I finished my CPD course as a reward (a Level 3 one, so quite a lot of work), but was thrilled to have it. However, I didn't build it until I'd finished my course - which I did three weeks ago (and I passed the course so am now a qualified Clerk!).

The bus is now parked on the unit in the sitting room!

WeirdCatLady · 26/12/2017 17:27

Where do we keep it?
My favourite architecture sets are on the living room window, my Star Wars collection, including the amazing Death Star, live in the kitchen, mostly on top of the freezer. Bb8 is on my bedside table cos he’s sooo cute 👍🏻 Dd has Arkham asylum and her batman collection on a bookcase in her chillout room. The Star Wars Star destroyer and atat are in the study.

The majority of our lego is in ikea trofast storage tubs, all broken up ready to play with.

When I win the lottery I always said I would have a Death Star, but now I’d like the large millennium falcon (£650)

Got a Lego creator tree house a little fire truck and the police station, have had a ball building over the last two days. Glad everyone else is enjoying their bricks too!!

My partner would have no problem at all with me spending my bonus on Lego...although he’s not the money brain in the relationship and tends to encourage me to do things for myself, so we’re pretty solid on that front. :D

Congratulations also to all who have been rewarded with Lego for working hard 😁

Most of my sets live in an Ikea billy bookcase with glass doors. Saves dusting. Had to buy extra shelves though.

Going to need another one soon. (Or 2!)

Bigger sets will go on top of the Ikea Kallax unit which doubles as storage.

So who went off and bought some Lego for themselves as a result of this thread ? Own up !

Degustibusnonestdisputandem1 · 27/12/2017 09:07

I've got the Disney castle, assembly square, pet shop (discontinued), detectives office and Parisian restaurant - I'm definitely a Lego addict! 😁

morningtoncrescent62 · 27/12/2017 14:07

Thanks for coming back with the update, OP. Lego's not my thing, but I've enjoyed reading about everyone's fabulous sets on this thread.

ElephantsandTigers · 27/12/2017 19:14

This thread has inspired me to play with some Lego once the kids are back at school. My kids haven't played with it for a good couple of years but if I get some out...

juddyrockingcloggs · 27/12/2017 19:19

My son got loads of Lego for Christmas! We're currently building the Minecraft Mountain Cave! It's brilliant!

Blonde0nBlonde · 28/12/2017 16:30

My detectives office order has just been notified as out of stock :(

All DS's (My) Lego ended up in a couple of boxes (and elsewhere) for a couple of moves and are now a mish-mash of LOTR, Star Wars, Halo bits. I have been carefully sorting out all the bits and am now attempting the rebuilds. It's a job I tell you.....

This year - only built the Lego Head (Jack Sparrow) - I don't even pretend anymore that it's for DS (age 16).

I'm 55.

Blonde0nBlonde · 28/12/2017 17:01

I ordered from my local toy store, trying to support my high street...but they’ve hit a little snag I guess. Means I’ll be back to work before I get more Lego’s *sad face!

I’ve been sorting my Lego’s into colours, but becoming aware that that’s not a great system 😂

I'm gutted I missed out on hogwarts/other Harry Potter sets. Anyone know where I'd get them?

trixymalixy · 28/12/2017 20:00

I have it on good authority that Lego will be doing more Harry Potter Lego in he near future.

I've rebuilt The Spider (LOTR 9470) - ok - I admit, with only 7 legs, hoping the bits for Leg 8 will turn up. I started to build Leg 8 out of other bits but realized without the final Claw piece it was futile.

So back to the Castle(s) bits....going for LOTR 9474.

Occasionally, I have to do other stuff too, like work, but I'm self-employed and although I could and should be working, I'm not.
Catching up with various other necessaries and:

building Lego....

MrsTaytodarling · 28/12/2017 20:05

They should do a big proper Hogwarts castle for £300.

Blonde0nBlonde · 28/12/2017 20:12

Unfortunately I am not near to there!! But that is a great bargain, maybe I will see if I can convince them to post it 😁

Hogwarts castle I would struggle to resist
