I’m about to start my Ninjago City set. I’ve just opened the box for the first time and it looks amazing - it’s got 2 plain white boxes inside which are each the size of a quite large Lego set and have about 15 bags each, and a further 20 loose bags of Lego in the bottom of the box!

I am so excited 😆 - makes up for the fact that my DS (nearly 7) made his Fire Mech and his Temple of the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon all by himself without needing any help from me - sad and proud at the same time!!!

Loving the Lego Grin my 45 year old husband always gets a Lego Star Wars kit every year. I think it's time I asked for some Lego myself.

You need xkcd as well.

This one is for the OP.

Dh got the bucket wheel excavator last Christmas. This year he got the Claas tractor.
He really wanted the technic 40th anniversary 6x6 all terrain tow truck. It doesn't have too many bricks and in my opinion is overpriced so we're waiting for it to be reduced.

I think I might order the fishing village now instead of the detectives office 😳 (and instead of a washing machine 😂)

Have you seen the new diner? I'm feeling very sorry for myself today, perhaps it's just the thing to cheer me up!

Blonde0nBlonde · 01/01/2018 15:48

I was just scrolling through new sets and I saw the diner, I’m going to turn into one of those big bearded Americans who build Lego cities on their YouTube channels.

What's the Lenin stuff? Same kits but foreign instructions, cheaper?

Lego is relatively expensive for what it is when you look at it purely economically, but the quality is pretty good, and I think the chinese knock offs are not as nice. I have a friend who buys a lot of their stuff and from a distance it looks pretty good, but working with it I think you notice it just isn't as nice or as clicky :D

Have been scoping ebay from work all day looking for a bargain on a big set to justify the expenditure, but we also signed our contract for the house to complete on the 12th...so it's going to be harder to splurge now reality has set in!!

Anyone else got any cool christmas builds they want to share?

I've built both the campervan and VW Beetle over the last week both bought second hand from one of the Facebook Lego selling/swap sites.

Blonde0nBlonde · 02/01/2018 19:11

Any tips for good prices on second hand Lego? Have found a buy it now or best offer for a brick bank, which would make it £105? What do we recon?

I’ve started a lego architecture collection. Got the US Capitol, Venice, Berlin and Buckingham Palace so far.

DumbledoresApprentice · 02/01/2018 22:53

Oh- I thought I’d read the whole thread but I was only at the bottom of p2 it turns out. Blush

Blonde0nBlonde · 03/01/2018 05:07

The Lego architecture stuff looks really nice. Have you seen the Sydney opera house?

DumbledoresApprentice · 03/01/2018 10:17

I have. I really quite like the Falling Water one but I can’t find it anywhere except for £££££. I think perhaps it’s been discontinued and has become a bit of a collectors’ item.

ijustwannadance · 03/01/2018 10:41

That's the good thing about the architecture sets, most of the pieces are small and basic and beige/white which make them cheap to buy from bricklink/brickowl as deckoff said.

Blonde0nBlonde · 03/01/2018 15:07

The falling water one I think you can sometimes pick up for not so much on Ebay USA, but you'd have to find someone willing to ship it assuming you're UK. My friend got the Eiffel tower for Christmas...but it looked a bit boring to me. How do you find building in all greys or whites and creams? Still fun?

The thing with the creator modulars is that they look so sleek that it makes building freestyle so much harder because you want it all to still look nicely finished.

Blonde0nBlonde · 03/01/2018 15:10

...I take it back, I just googled it and it's pretty steeply priced all round! Have found an incomplete brick bank on gumtree which I am tempted by, although i'm not sure I would have many of the specialist little parts just kicking around in my spares box...
