Cheeky Fuckers Of The Year Awards

After reading of the four year babysitting I think we need CFOTY awards. Who are your nominees?

OP posts:
DotDashBeep · 21/12/2017 19:15

Like previous posters, I disbelieve most cf threads. There's just too much ott detail, op is able to post real time updates with enough drip feed info to make people froth up into a wave of indignation, cheerleaders start to form and the op is carried away by a runaway train. Further threads are then almost mandatory for the baying hounds. If you can introduce a character (miss jolly, army dad, spangran etc so much the better)

Hmm
Aridane · 21/12/2017 20:08

What was Liftzilla?

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 21/12/2017 20:18

What was Liftzilla?

The OP's colleague expected lifts from her even though the OP had to go out of her way to do them. Started out genuine but the cheerleaders egged on the OP until she claimed that the colleague was being disciplined and maybe eventually fired (?). It was clearly made up at the end with all sorts of interesting twists and turns.

Aridane · 21/12/2017 20:27

Thanks!

MiltonTheChristmasCockroach · 21/12/2017 20:33

What was Liftzilla?

The OP of the thread got stuck in a lift at John Lewis. It was going to be 3 weeks before she was rescued due to local council cutbacks due to all the money paid out to CF immigrunts and single parents.

Fortunately a member of Special Forces was on hand and managed to squeeze a Tiny Ballerina (TB) between the lift doors. TB was luckily able to consult with medically trained relatives in order to deal with any health problems until she pirouetted so fast she blasted through the lift doors, like a midget tornado, and released the OP.

Much champagne and pavlova was consumed that night to celebrate the heroic rescue mission - HURRAH!

Or, what DailyMailReadersAreThick said.

HuskyMcClusky · 22/12/2017 00:06

I vote to ban the term 'cheeky fucker' or 'CF' instead. It's really tiresome now, as are the nicknames. Especially ones with zilla in them.

Yes please. ‘Tis all a load of shite.

GetOutOfMYGarden · 22/12/2017 00:35

Too many good ones, we need categories!

Supreme cheekyfuckery - 4 year baby sitter

Most tragic - The patio doors into OP's garden in the listed building

Comedy - The OP locking the CFN's kids in her garden that they shouldn't have been i

Best diagram award - www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2994946-it-s-a-bloody-parking-one-with-brass-necked-cfn-s

tampinfuminragin · 22/12/2017 00:43

The CF who expected the neighbour to watch her kids for free all summer and then went into a huff when she said no.

NewNameWhoDis · 22/12/2017 01:05

Hold on, the CF who wanted to bring her kid and DP to a hen party actually went through with it?? Can anyone link as I remember reading that thread thinking nah, she won't do it.

dentydown · 22/12/2017 01:15

I quite liked the one where the next door neighbor’s boyfriend thought it was ok to take a short cut through someone’s front garden, shuting windows, knocking children out of the way and spilling coffee down her do. No matter what was said he would still use her garden as a short cut. Queue armydad intervening. And it all depends I to chaos!

TheClaws · 22/12/2017 05:52

I’m with paxillin. I don’t think encouraging CF threads is a great idea when a good percentage of them are fiction already. They give trolls new codewords to use as an introduction for other troll threads, eg. “Just a NC here! Been here ages, you know, Workzilla, penis beaker, cancel the cheque ...” A standard CF thread usually follows such a worn, trite pattern that it should be quite obvious to posters that it is pure shite.

Coconutspongexo · 22/12/2017 06:41

Creative writing of the year award seems much more suited for this category doesn’t it?

It’s strange how the ‘cfs’ always have constant updates, so much is going on on these threads and those reply to them seem to hang on to every word cheering the OP on.. it’s all a bit much.

LazyDailyMailJournos · 22/12/2017 07:06

I enjoy a CF thread. Some of them are a bit OTT but some are genuinely interesting to watch unfold.

My personal favourite is the dog grooming CFers who were using a MNers drive for their client parking. Closely followed by the Isle of Wight penguin bollards thread.

I did enjoy Wattyy's threads but her last update was really upsetting. She's ended up in a completely shit situation through no fault of her own. Hopefully her insurance will kick in for the repairs and she'll be able to move back in soon.

WhatALoadOfBaubles · 22/12/2017 08:03

I've read some MN-famous "CF' threads over the years, some seem fairly plausible, but many I just haven't believed, including the tediously over-mentioned with dewy eyed affection even years later threads.
I agree with various PP that as they're now so popular many are at best embellished , at worst entirely fictional.

And to whoever mentioned shitting man above: how is using a toilet for its intended purpose CFery? He is being inconsiderate perhaps, nothing else Confused

AnnetteCurtains · 22/12/2017 08:34

What's span gran ? Never heard of that

paxillin · 22/12/2017 08:49

Perhaps her or Milton could start up a very interesting thread themselves discussing something they find riveting?

How patronising. It is a forum and I am not 5, neither is Milton I think.

JingsMahBucket · 22/12/2017 09:32

It's funny (not really) that people are troll hunting even on this thread. Unfortunately there really are a lot of CF in life and they really do crazy shit like this because they feel so entitled to do it.

The only difference is that people are willing to share and talk about it more now. 20 – 50 years ago everyone would have just rolled over and let someone get away with it while piously saying, "They'll get their due some day." But we've now all figured out that CF DON'T get their due unless someone actually stands up to them.

I think that helps explain why we're also seeing more posts about it. People are tired of this crap happening. Is that an opportunity for some people to be overly sensitive or to just completely make up stories? Sure. But, there has been a push in the 5 or so years for people, especially women, to stop letting others steamroll all over them. Hence, more CF call outs.

TheClaws · 22/12/2017 10:04

Isn’t it wonderful the medium of MN is here for all the CF sharing and cheering on? Hmm

Aridane · 22/12/2017 10:09

It used to be the case that there were some threads where people were getting advice about how to deal with an outrageously difficult or entitled person. Or just generally to sounds off.Sometimes the entitlement / behaviour was breathtaking. And that was entertaining in itself.

But now - it's jumped the shark (or whatever the expression is). Competitive CF-ery threads with the fan girls cheering on the OP and breathlessly pressing for updates. I guess there is a demand for these threads - and clearly people like them - but it's now competitive one upmanship and embellishment on the CF threads.

Not sure it’s troll hunting when people are saying they’re just over egged Confused

LesDennishair · 22/12/2017 10:56

Agree with this. Many of the CF threads read as bad works of fiction. Many posters do seem to be aware but find them entertaining hence the ‘I don’t care if it’s real’ comments. I can’t be bothered with them, personally. Though I did like ‘gluezilla’ thread, please don’t tell me that wasn’t true. Grin
I think people have always exaggerated to an extent but lately it’s grown worse.

LesDennishair · 22/12/2017 11:16

I hadn’t read the OP! Where is the AIBU?

Aridane · 22/12/2017 11:26

OP - YABU to suggest a CFOTY award - MNHQ have already pinned a thread in Site Stuff asking for nominations under various categories, including CF-ery ones. I think if you nominate a CF thread and they MNHQ decide to go with it, you win the grand prize of a Mumsnet mug
