After reading of the four year babysitting I think we need CFOTY awards. Who are your nominees?

A few have mentioned my thread.

Nothing juicy to update I'm afraid.
Me & (ex)friend still do not talk.
She's disowned the other two friends for stabbing her in the back and not putting me in my place and I'm still a horrible human being according to her Hmm

TeaAndAMarmiteSandwhich · 20/12/2017 20:47

Of course the Trump (Donald Trump!)

MipMipMip · 20/12/2017 20:53

Wow Hampton, that thread is extraordinary. Poor OP.

That said, they are not cheeky fuckers. They are not trying to get something for free, or take advantage in some other way. Above all there is nothing anyone could find funny, an essential element of CFs.

They are instead shortlisted for this year's Out and Out Bastard Award. A hard category (another strong contender are the PILs of a poster with a dying child that the current pregnancy was producing his "replacement". Nothing funny there).

So sorry Hampton, your suggestion has been digregarded.

But thank you for sharing and occupying half my day.

I don't know if he counts as a CF but i liked the shitting man, closely followed by the coffee in the handbag. And yes, I hope watty is ok.

MiltonTheChristmasCockroach · 20/12/2017 21:02

I have to agree that most, if not all, of the CF threads seem exaggerated or embellished which puts me off. The Spangran/man from the corner shop one certainly seemed to be the figment of a rather fertile imagination.

These days if I see the phrase 'cheeky fucker' or CF in an OP I immediately click the back button.

MiltonTheChristmasCockroach · 20/12/2017 21:05

^ apart from on this occasion obviously!

But then this isn't actually a CF thread.

MipMipMip · 20/12/2017 21:06

Which was Gluezilla please? I recognise all the rest and clearly spend way too much time on here.

Here is the four year babysitter. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3117322-Babysitting-for-free-for-working-neighbour?pg=1

I gather the babysitting at her own birthday party for someone else’s kids has already been mentioned?

jammytoastinbed · 20/12/2017 21:09

I haven't read this thread yet but I am so excited to! CFs need to look out!

Laska5772 · 20/12/2017 21:18

Kung but is she still on the PTA?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 20/12/2017 21:19

Thanks bettytagetti, I must be mixing that poster up with another one. I'm trying to remember which? Sorry for taking Flexi poster's name in vain!

paxillin · 20/12/2017 21:44

I propose most of us like being on the right side.
Furthermore, the CF threads allow us to bully whilst agreeing with the victim.
We also want to belong, it is great to say cancel the cheque or Span Gran.

GreenTulips · 20/12/2017 21:57

Any link to the garden thread?

Loved the 6 weeks babysitting Workzilla
FTCF
Spangran

Need to read the others

dustarr73 · 20/12/2017 22:12

Mexican House Thief is the stuff of legends.

I do like a c.f. thread but when you get over invested and then it's deleted.Cause it's a troll, really annoys me.Not cause in most and dying to know what happened.oh no not me😀😀

paxillin · 20/12/2017 22:18

Cause it's a troll, really annoys me.Not cause in most and dying to know what happened

The issue with most CF threads is it didn't fucking happen. No baying of a mob changes that.

paxillin · 20/12/2017 22:49

And would any of the CF of the year still be that if they didn't happen? Because you know what, almost all of them didn't bloody happen. So let's all stop bullying an imaginary bad girl.

MipMipMip · 20/12/2017 22:57

I choose to believe them all, even when proven to be trolls.

CFs are real. .

OP posts:
paxillin · 20/12/2017 23:02

I can see that believing them all would be more comfortable. You have to accept there is a high rate of deletion, ie trollery. If they are fake (and I think that is a valid assumption), aren't all these CF threads just bullies ganging up?

wictional · 20/12/2017 23:13

My nominations are Watty’s CF story and the one where the hen smuggled her family into the bride’s room! I was Shock

MipMipMip · 21/12/2017 00:05

Its actually more comfortable to believe none are real, that there aren't really people like CFers in the world. Trouble is; I've seen enough to know these people exist. So yes, some are fake. But believing them all to be real means that in the, possibly rare, instances that they are real a poster gets support. It's annoying to find out I've wasted my time when it is fake but it is far far worse for someone not to get help because of people crying wolf.

OP posts:
thecatfromjapan · 21/12/2017 05:40

But that is the thing. Fantasy or real, they seem to draw out some really bleak emotions. Predominantly the ones where people seek revenge for past situations where they have felt powerless, out of control, humiliated by people who have contravened what they perceive as being universal moral codes that they have sacrificed their own desires to live by.

And, yes, then you get a 'Group of the Slighted', banding together to mete out some kind of on-line 'justice'. It does look an awful lot like what bullying would look like in RL. It would be terrifying if it were in RL. It's pretty unpleasant to see it virtually enacted on-screen. I guess, for me, it's just a slightly unpleasant reminder of what humans can be like.

I really think its the apotheosis of what I don't like about AIBU.

And, yes, I get that people think it's funny and a bit of a laugh and an entertainment on your phone whilst you're waiting in a queue or for a doctor's appointment that is running late (and feeling mildly irritated that your time is leaking away in pointlessness - which, I think, is something that contributes to the over-all 'feel' of these 'Cheeky Fucker' threads,) but I guess that 'It's only a joke. It's not real,' thing is part of what I hate about them. Because it's corralled safely into a 'It's not real' space, it permits an unleashing of quite bleak behaviour.

I honestly find them quite grim. And I think paxillian has really put her finger on why that is.

I'm a bit depressed that these threads seem to be being held up as the epitome of what MN is all about.

MN is obviously just a website where people post all kinds of stuff. But I'm afraid I reserve the right to be a bit bewildered by the absolute love for these threads above all others.

TheHodgeHeg · 21/12/2017 05:57

I'm sceptical of a few of the mentioned threads!

The CFN door into the private garden op started a different thread under a different name about not being able to find a cat poo or something which just didn't make sense because she was supposed to be staying at a friends house according to her CFN thread. She had a name change fail on the cat poo thread which is how they were linked. All a bit weird.

I didn't actually read the CFN thread and actually rarely bother with any CFN threads. I don't mind an embellished story but the CF ones tend to be boring and over-egged.

TheHodgeHeg · 21/12/2017 05:57

*rarely bother with any CF threads
