After reading of the four year babysitting I think we need CFOTY awards. Who are your nominees?

OP posts:
Desmondo2016 · 21/12/2017 06:03

What about the dad of the counselling client who blocked the staff only toilet with a giant stinking shit every Tuesday 😂

SchoolMoney · 21/12/2017 06:21

Mipmipmip gluezilla was (in short, it was 4 threads of wonder)

OP got a save the date for a wedding of a friend of a friend but no invitation arrived. Turned out bride didn't want her as a guest, no no. Just to keep the date so OP could decorate the venue for free and then bugger off before the actual event. Bride couldn't see the problem as most people would be thrilled to help her have her spweshul pwincess day. If I recall correctly the theme for decorating was 'old Hollywood glamour'.

Threads are in classics but I can't link (haven't even been able to name change back after using this one for one question weeks ago...).
Someone suggested she reply to the bride's request with 'are you on glue?'.

GoJetterGirl · 21/12/2017 09:43

They are instead shortlisted for this year's Out and Out Bastard Award. A hard category (another strong contender are the PILs of a poster with a dying child that the current pregnancy was producing his "replacement". Nothing funny there).

This was my thread ^^ you've given me a great idea... they're getting a certificate through the post in the new year... Grin

KungFuPandaWorksOut16 · 21/12/2017 10:24

Laska She is! But they've changed the rules of how donations are made due too her, and apparently is on the "shit" bits for volunteering. Whatever that means.

Abouttoblow · 21/12/2017 10:33

LyinWitchIn Flexi-time CF was absolutely not a troll ....multi or otherwise.
I lived it, both threads.
Someone came in at the end if Thread 2 that caused me some concern but everything I said was true.

Aridane · 21/12/2017 15:44

I'm with maudlin, paxillin, milton, thecat and hodg in not liking the current spate of CF threads - they seem either to be made up or over embellished, go on for ages with posters cheering them on, and then become even more embellished. Bah hambug

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 21/12/2017 16:14

Me too, Aridane, it's like bear-baiting and because so many posters say they like CF threads, the place is just over-run with them. Stupid, embellished and goady.

DotForShort · 21/12/2017 16:20

My vote is for no awards. Most of the CF threads are either outright invention or embellished to within an inch of their lives. I can't stand them.

MiltonTheChristmasCockroach · 21/12/2017 16:31

Abouttoblow. Here's why I find your threads a bit 'out there'.

  1. CF workmate slacking off - believable, I'm sure we've all worked with one at some point
  2. CF workmate disciplined/sanctioned - believable, it's what should happen in a workplace
  3. CF workmate resigns that night and doesn't have to work notice or pay back the 5 days of work owed - now I'm getting a bit 'hmm' about it
  4. CF workmate asks you to falsify a reference for her even though you aren't friends - 'hmm's' getting louder ... why you?
  5. One of the 2 jobs she's applied for just happens to be with your BIL who you are very close to - bloody hell, there's a coincidence!
  6. CF workmate's mother recognises you in a cafe even though you've never met and you have no idea who she is - oooookaaaay
  7. CF workmate's mother then tips her coffee into your handbag - really?

That's why I think your threads were a tad embellished. Not calling you a troll at all, just someone who gilds the lily.

FitBitFanClub · 21/12/2017 17:25

Abouttoblow Was FTCF a Shakespeare buff in real life then?
If so, I can see why you'd be spooked.

chaucerstails · 21/12/2017 17:27

Every mumsnet troll hunter ever: m.youtube.com/watch?v=eKQOk5UlQSc

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 21/12/2017 17:28

I vote to ban the term 'cheeky fucker' or 'CF' instead. It's really tiresome now, as are the nicknames. Especially ones with zilla in them.

MiltonTheChristmasCockroach · 21/12/2017 17:44

That's quite a funny clip @chaucerstails Smile

As stated, I'm not claiming the CFTF (or whatever the acronym is) is a troll, just exaggerating somewhat.

Now, if I were MN troll hunting (which I'm not) I'd be a bit suspicious of someone who is either newly registered or namechanged 45 minutes ago, then posted here.

But that's none of my business ....

Abouttoblow · 21/12/2017 18:01

Milton I have no way of convincing anyone of what happened but I will respond to your points, for what it's worth.

  1. Yes, most of us will have worked with a slacker before but she was on a whole new level.
  2. Yes, discipline and sanctions should have been put in place and when she was advised of these she accepted them (?) but then decided she would rather leave.
  3. She did indeed resign that night. I have no idea if any organisation could force anyone to work notice or pay back the annual leave. There may indeed be ways to enforce it but I'm not aware of them.
  4. Excluding the boss, I'm the longest serving member of staff in the team that is qualified in our role. Others are qualified with less experience, others are still in their probationary periods. We had a civil, working relationship and were not friends but I understand why she would ask me rather than any other staff members.
  5. My BIL is qualified in the same role as I am. We worked together when we both qualified before he moved up the ladder. I met my husband through him.
  6. We live in a large town. Her mother had been in the office, not often though. She could have pointed me out in Tesco or the High Street. I have no idea.
  7. Yes she emptied her coffee into my handbag. You'd have to ask her why she chose to do that, other than being pissed off that is ruined her daughter's career.

No lillies were gilded in the either thread.

DotForShort · 21/12/2017 18:11

The issue with most CF threads is it didn't fucking happen.

Quoted for truth.

Abouttoblow · 21/12/2017 18:13

Fitbit No I'm sure they weren't but just freaked me out a bit Smile

MiltonTheChristmasCockroach · 21/12/2017 18:16

Okay Abouttoblow thanks for the explanation, though it doesn't fully address my points. I do, however, reserve the right to raise an eyebrow at the coincidences (BIL and the new job, CF's mother being in the same place at the same time and recognising you from Tesco/wherever).

Anyway I'm glad you socked it to the CF, poppet x

Abouttoblow · 21/12/2017 18:24

It is what it is Milton Smile

chaucerstails · 21/12/2017 18:32

I see what you did there Milton Grin

Some people blame Penis Beaker for the trollery, which may be true in part. But I blame the op of the Liftzilla thread some years ago for taking a relatively simple work problem and getting carried away by mumsnet fervour.

I always saw aibu as being a bit of entertainment. But if CF is moved to its own forum, I want all the trans stuff, cyclist / car bashing, Mil bashing threads moved too.

Otherwise I'll have to learn to use the Hide function.

PS: Whether you believe Abouttoblow or not, I want to know where that saga ends up.

I want to know where that saga ends up

This may be the only point on which we differ chaucers Smile

MyDarlingWhatIfYouFly · 21/12/2017 18:44

I loved the one where the antique gift was given to a friends father and the friend tried to eBay it. I didn't see the conclusion, but I really hope the op got it back!

MiltonTheChristmasCockroach · 21/12/2017 19:00

Perhaps her or Milton could start up a very interesting thread themselves discussing something they find riveting?

To be fair, riveting and Mumsnet don't really belong in the same sentence. Mildly amusing/frustrating would probably be closer to the mark for me.

MiltonTheChristmasCockroach · 21/12/2017 19:03

DISCLAIMER I was paraphrasing, I know you didn't specifically mention MN though that was the obvious implication (as we're posting on MN)
